I actualy discovered Wardruna when waching Vikings episode 3 or 4 season 1, when they raid the monastary, and they start playinf Fehu.. I go like: What in the gods name is that musick... it just struck a vital corde in my "soulcore". Ive now been to 3 conserts/solo preformances and even spoke to Einar onse. I also did viking-reinactment for a time, but for me too it all started with the show👍. (wich now unfortunatly has become so crapifeid in the last seasons, that i dont even wach it anymore)
I actually listened to them before randomly bored old job seen Lagertha Vs White Hair clip about 4mnths later...and I was hooked to the show from there, also noticed snake pit poetry masterpiece I connected the two and was was awe struck like meant to be 😊
what I really like about the Vikings Show , is that they really try to recreate the language barrier, the characters speak in different languages, they even hired a Linguist to help them to recreate old English and old norse , look at the chapters when they first meet ( anglos and danish ) , and the back ground music in the season when Wardruna collaborated wow when i saw those videos i got goosebumps :P
I love Einar's dedication to this music and his comments about helping people be proud of their heritage, though it seems he has done it inadvertently. I have always felt a special connection to the Norway of my ancestors. As a british I absolutely have a bad obsession with vikings, however I have always been fascinated with the old world from Celtics, Norsemen, Romans to the Greeks and ancient Far East both religious and cultural view

The old gods don't exist any more than the new. Stories people told to comfort themselves until they became stories to control others. Norse is no different in that respect than animism or the abrahamic faiths.

What he says about the association of our ancient symbols with the NAZIs is very true. Although I'm personally proud of our cultural and ancestral symbols, I've certainly had a few comments and disapproving glares from strangers in the early spring when I've drawn/made, or been wearing a sun ring, because it looks very similar to a NAZI swastika design and I live in England where people have an obsession with world war 2 and the NAZIs and the people on the whole aren't very aware of the traditional use and nature of our old symbols.

In English Schools kids learn about all sorts of organised belief systems, including some that are prevalent in the Indian subcontinent. I think that coupled with a large, practicing Asian population and our education system, people have more of a sense of context and a general knowledge when they see the Swastika used in that way, whereas generally if people in this country see white Europeans endorsing the swastika then because of our 20th century history, and because there's no like for like context and education like there is for Asian belief systems, they'd very likely to make the assumption that that person is probably a NAZI. I'm hopeful that in time as our numbers continue to grow people will become more educated so we don't have do deal with this kind of prejudice, until then if anyone challenges me I must accept it and offer up an explanation.

Swastika comes from Hindu culture, one of the most ancient cultures along with Norse. Its a symbol of peace and Im not suprised its somewhat in Norse culture too, since both have even similar Gods even though they never met each other back then. Its fascinating. Hitler just misused the symbol

As much as I love Einar, Christianity wasn't 'ethno-centric', it's quite the opposite, it's a universal religion by nature. Nor was the pre-Christian faith of the Norse/Germanic universal, again opposite of what Einar said. In fact they were quite folkish or tribal since it never set out to spread any message to all the people of the known world. Maybe not ethno-centric as we see it today, but it wasn't far off. Despite this, I adore the man and continue to do so since his heart is in the right place and his work being outright incredible. I have a soft spot for Scandinavians, especially Norwegians even if I don't entirely agree with the beliefs commonly held by many of them.

It is only universal due to Christians who traveled to "spread the word of God". I've always thought of it as "recruiting". Norse tradition is more universal than most want to admit. Nature has been the basis of many different countries since before there were names for them.

Both christians and norsemen weren't fond of each other in that time period. Because of the education in that time (which was based a lot on ones own religion) they all had some sort of superiority complex about their faith. Christians didn't accept the norsemen and vice versa. Sometimes they tolerated each other (f.e. when trading), but most of the time they were to stubborn to see that they're basically the same
