in a corporate setting, min heejin is doing everything wrong. there are procedures and processes that you use to file a complaint or grievance. you don't plot to leave the company and bad mouth it in public. in the first place, you asked for a big company to invest in you. that big company has 80% ownership, and you and your directors only have 20%. the investor has every right to protect its investment, and is within its rights to request for an audit. if the audit shows that min heejin acted in bad faith, no major investor in their right mind would ever want to work with her in her future ventures. and from a legal standpoint, it looks like min heejin's claims on "plagiarism" won't stand in court. it's intended to drum up public opinion on her side. it also seems she's on a reckless course to burn bridges. typical course of action of someone who got caught doing something underhanded. knowing she'll lose in the boardroom and in court, she'd rather destroy everyone else. in which case, she just destroyed her career in the korean entertainment industry. who'd want to work with somebody like her?

She did go through protocol by messaging them directly she is the CEO of Ador. She contacted both Bang PD and Be Lift CEO who are directly involved with ILL’IT voiced her concerns and was not responded to and then she escalated to the HYBE CEO and Even Scooter Braun. Which still no response. I would think if one of your conglomerates were voicing concerns you would try to fan the flames… but instead you release an Audit to the public that’s just shady as fuck.

As a lawyer, I just want to highlight that at this point nothing we see from press releases, interviews, or news articles should be considered full & truthful account of what happened. Everyone should just take what they read or hear with a grain of salt. People need to understand that this could end up in a messy legal battle. No company will ever publicize everything they have against someone they are planning to sue because it will obviously jeopardize their case.
With that said, I agree that the priority should be the well being of the idols who got dragged in this mess. Those who have been defending MHJ should be ashamed of themselves because MHJ was the first to drop names & contrary to her claim about caring for NWJNS she was the one who threw them under the bus. That was just unforgivable. A full grown adult, hiding behind the protection of teens. Shameless of her.

    • @WillTheRealBishPleaseStandUp
      @WillTheRealBishPleaseStandUp 24 วันที่ผ่านมา +15

Forgot to mention that even the roles played by both MHJ & Bang Si-Hyuk are not clear on a legal perspective we should not be so quick to attribute fault to either… except for MHJ dragging her supposed children in the middle of the war & dragging other idols. (Yes i gotta say that again that was just deplorable)
      1) most of more detailed allegations come from unnamed “insiders”. None of them are verified. 2) assuming they are true, they mostly state that the actions were done by MHJ right hand man. In court, that’s not enough to prove that she ordered him to do it. 3) Bang Si-Hyuk is NOT the CEO of Hybe anymore. The role of a chairman of the board of directors vs a ceo are very different. Normally, chairman of the board is not involved in the day to day operations of the company.
Does this mean I personally think MHJ is innocent? Honestly, my gut says no based solely on how Hybe is acting, how careful they are in sharing details, and their reputation to take legal action with no nonsense. I think they have an impressive legal team. And they are ready to take her down legally.

the latter part is crazy childish for a lawyer cause it's obvious for people with a bit of a critical thinking mind to get that she is not aiming at idols but at the creative teams behind them, the people who create 80% of the content people consume. Min heejin left sm cause she was drained by that system and created ador with the admirable vision of reviving kpop and create an healthy working enviroment for people. She should be respected, now she is fighting for fairness in her field, for herself and her team. She cares about newjeans and she is doing what she think is best. Will she do everything in the best way? Probably not, but she is a person and people online like to dehumanize her cause it's easy to have a villain and play the role of a justice warrior, who cares about truth, for lazy people speculations are facts. From newjeans debut she has being defamed like crazy and it's surreal cause in kpop there has never been a ceo who created such a healthy environment for his team ( there are tons of interviews from people inside and outside ador). People are blinded by fanatism and cherry picking. I see only defaming words for her online and it's scary given how the majority of stuff online are speculations that many take as facts. She has my admiration, I followed her steps since 2014, I will be the first to step back if she proves to be a despicable person but until now she has being admirable. I'd like for more people to see it.

Bang PD created BTS but he never ever once claimed that he owns BTS, not like MHJ, overpraising herself - she doesn't own ADOR or New Jeans. I'm also thinking of the Kakao situation last year, when LSM wanted Kakao to buy SM's stock, and collaborated with Kakao to falsely inflate stock prices so HYBE would not be able to bid. There are people still in prison for that one.
Lying, cheating and hogging attention seems to be the basis of SM's playbook. It's no wonder some of the artists are declining to renew their contracts... like Taemin.

I’m not a mother, but I am a very protective auntie and I could not agree more about how MHJ used New Jeans and ILLIT to defend
herself and fan the flames of this now very public discourse. They’re too young and inexperienced to defend themselves. I especially feel for ILLIT because they’re so new and already have so much hate thrown at them by k-pop stans about their vocal ability, pre-debut brand deals, allegations of payola, and for simply debuting under HYBE. There’s plenty of adult idols who wouldn’t be able to handle all that scrutiny and hate, so I can’t imagine how this feels for kids and just-barely adults. They entrusted their careers and care to these people and deserve so much better.

My fear is the influence that she has on the girls. The problem with the whole Kpop system is that artists are literally and perhaps forcefully kept in bubbles and with limited exposure to viewpoints that oppose the company agenda. She's had years to butter up the girls and their families, ensuring loyalty and support, which, if all this plays out poorly, will negatively impact the girls. And it'll be hard to be disloyal to someone who they think helped their short rise to popularity.

For me, my point of view is BTS is the face of HYBE literally their face is on the front of the building, in posters. So they Min Heejin and the other adults in the room should have taken the high road that BTS always takes when dealing with these kinds of complaints. BTS was often blamed of taking this group or that group's concept, and they often said nothing. Like you pointed out later on they often had others actually use their Songs not even a concept (which is difficult not to copy), but actual Songs and yet they actually didn't say a word about it if it was such that legal had to get involved so be it neither BTS or Bang Shi Hyuk spoke about it openly.
Min HeeJin wants public sentiment to be with her and that even sits badly with me because as you pointed out these girls on both groups are so young and neither has autonomy of their group so why bring in these girls into it.
Even though we would like to believe that BTS has nothing to do with this BTS is HYBE and HYBE is BTS even though it is not structured that way that is how many people feel.

Imo, Jin (and therefore BTS) is coming back very soon... The industry is scared and antis are trying to bring Hybe down. There are many ways, but easiest way is from within. I think she's a planted mole and Hybe knows it.

The only time I've come across Min Hee Jin is in a boracity video and it didn't leave me with the best impression with her wanting to take the credit for their success. She did good with V's album and she seems to have the talent for it. But I have trauma from people who make everything about themselves, so it raises my hackles.
While I'm mainly here to see if it would impact BTS, the girls (New Jeans and ILLIT) really shouldn't be going through all this.

The thing about V's album is very interesting: Min Heejin is a former SM employee. She worked on V's 'Layover'. Taemin is (was) an SM idol. Taemin's recent release, 'Guilty', strongly resembled V's album. It's pure speculation at this point, but the possibility of MHJ passing information to SM to use for Taemin's album can't be dismissed; there are just too many similarities. Add to that the fact that Taemin has now left SM for Big Planet Made Entertainment, and things start to look very fishy indeed.

Nah she also tried to take credit for V’s album and she wasn’t a producer. She is a creative director. V had his album 3+ years in the making and she tried taking credit. When it comes to those things bts members took the lead for what they wanted to do. The mail album was V’s idea. And the artistic portions is mostly V’s ideas, his art etc and she made it good. But yeah, she got a flack for that from armys. I think that’s when Hybe might have decided to take a much closer look at her.

He said it’s already done but he’s agonizing over how to arrange the tracks. She wasn’t a producer, and V is quite quirky so of course yeotan was his idea. It’s personal to him. As a creative director she did a good job. And recently during her press conference, she again mentioned him and his passion etc but that’s not what the news came out with when he released his album. It was all about her and her work on his album. She attributed nothing to him. That left a bad taste. Also, the music industry is a business as you say and when they are churning out so many artists at once they are bound to share a resemblance in style. It does seem uncool of MHJ to take so much credit for New Jeans; it does undercut their efforts and Bang PD didn't do that to BTS. But then again, he's a man and he may not have to make a big fuss for people to give him credit for the role he played. It's not always the same for women in the workplace. You don't always automatically get credit for what you do unless you stand up and proclaim it loudly. And then you are accused of being a narcissist.
But in this case she's doing it at the expense of young women/girls when she could easily portray them as partners instead of puppets. It's really inexcusable (now that she's under fire) to use those same girls as cover by saying that she got their consent. No way girls between the ages of 16-20 fully understand the ramifications of what their agreeing to or how it could blow back on them if she mishandles the situation.

    Very thoughtful analysis, as ever.
Although he’s definitely not a child, I would also put Taehyung in the category of ‘people who should be protected from the fallout of this drama’. He’s currently serving his country and won’t be able to devote much time to protecting himself.
The reason I say that is because he has already had a working relationship with Min Hee-jin for Layover which was in itself successful, and he seems to get on well with New Jeans. If there was any suggestion that she was trying to ‘poach’ Tae, or had offered him some kind of haven should his relationship with BigHit sour, I would expect BH/HYBE to react strongly. That would be an existential threat to BTS and extremely damaging to HYBE. I don’t think it’s a secret that Tae’s relationship with the company hasn’t always been plain sailing.
None of what has come out so far indicates that was happening but whatever has happened can’t *just* be a squabble about concept copying.

As you say, he is rather close to New Jeans, so the way they're being treated by their CEO is going to earn his strong disapproval. The fact that she's dragging another HYBE group- ILLIT- through the mud isn't going to make things any better; he's had to live with too many assertions of copying and plagiarizing leveled against BTS to have any patience with that. There seems to be a two problems. One is the unsucessful negotiation of her contract to change the non compete clause. The other is the plagerism issue. Min Hee Jin has a definitive style that she has sucessfully introduced and reintroduced over her career. Hybe hired her because of that success in the past. However, if she feels that it can not only be duplicated, but duplicated with great sucess, it dilutes her worth as a creative in the marketplace. Why would an outside investor or future employer be interested in her if anyone can produce great results using the same formula? I understand this feeling and it should have been addressed and taken seriously by Hybe. The kind of friction that could and has occurred between labels has to be considered poor management. What matters is her intentions. Hybe has suggested that she wanted to part ways even before Illet's debut. That she was secretly working with others at Ador to find ways to make that happen including ruining the reputation of the company to gain the upper hand in negotiating her and New Jeans' departure. If that's true, and there is evidence to support that claim, then the situation is most likely beyond an inhouse negotiation and will need to be determined by a court of law. If it's not true, then Hybe has made a gross error escalating a situation that has cost many people, both inside and outside the agency, unnecessary heartbreak and loss. There has already been damage to reputations, financial losses and most importantly damage to the mental health of young people who put their trust in adults to protect and guide them and who have done the complete opposite.

Burning bridges, attacking right and left, running to the press with accusations rather than a legal team sounds reckless, unprofessional and a career stopper. Putting herself forward as the mastermind behind all successes isn't in line with the gentle humility Koreans favor. This is complete speculation on my part, so don't take it as anything but an attempt to put things together logically...
We know that Taemin's 'Guilty' album bore a very strong resemblance to V's 'Layover' album. We know that MHJ worked with V, and that she is a former SM employee. I speculate that HYBE was as interested in this 'coincidence' as everyone else was, and quietly did some investigating into the situation. And it's very likely that all the commentary about 'copying' and 'plagiarizing' put her on the defensive.
HYBE's investigation- and there was one, of some sort, because information has been collected and assembled- led to them requesting her to step down.
Going from that, I conclude that all this commotion is her effort to reverse the charge, so to speak; to insist that no, she didn't copy from one of HYBE's most beloved and popular artists: rather, HYBE (and others) are copying from her.
I think we're at the point now where she's made her lies too big and doesn't know when to stop doubling down. Last night (midday in Korea) there was new info on her claims. Now she's claiming that not only did ILLIT copy from New Jeans, the boy-group RIIZE did too. AND she's moved to a more outrageous claim: she's saying that Bang Sihyuk's success with BTS is because he copied one of HER debuted groups while she was still with SM.

Every boy and girl group out there is going to “copy” the same successful business model. That’s where better songs, better choreography, and innovation will let some rise to the top. It sounds like market value has gone flat when you claim someone is copying your idea. A marketing idea is hard to copyright. I agree she is just pulling in the young girls because they have some sense of loyalty towards her.

I sorry that she dragged Newjeans into this.
BUT if they are really calling up and crying everyday and complaining about being copied, they need personality development courses.
    Because on a contrast,
YG team Babymon was questioned about Illit and competition and they said they're supportive of them but see no competition among themselves but look fwd to own growth.
Similarly BLACKPINK too was asked about it several times.
Jisoo said that someone has to overtake for the world to move on, they won't be forever, and they're supportive of when it does
Lisa said that it's natural for someone else to take their place and they'll be happy if even one person is thinking of them and their music 50years later.
THAT should be the mindset. Idk why it's Newjeans particularly because Lsf doesn't seem to share such mindset.
Makes me think if Min Heejin has taught but all the wrong things.

When new jeans came on the scene they were a breath of fresh air. Their sound was different! They seem like authentic girls of their age...they were naturally beautiful and very talented. So they became the other group from Korea that I paid attention to. Loved seeing their interaction with BTS. I heard all these bad things about mhj but didn’t pay attention to them. I thought she did a great job at creating this group and has been treating them well. I was looking forward to their comeback!
What’s happening now is very sad for the girls. They don’t deserve this. But now I am starting to believe that MHJ is truly problematic for them because she is focusing on the wrong things. Let’s say she is making all this noise because of ILLIT...the best strategy for her is to just show a better product with their comeback. I checked out Illit’s video and I thought their sound was just like typical kpop gg...except with aesthetics that are similar to NJ. They didn’t wow me at all. MHJ having a hissy fit over this group tells me that she Is not confident about their comeback.
Her response is very suspect...I also hope that the girls will be kept out of this. But in the end I think this is the end for MHJ in the HYBE organization. The question is...what will NJ do? I think Sticking with HYBE is the best for them...Specially if all the supporting staff stays. Hoping for the best for them in this situation...

Knetz now started to realise Hybe and BSH are the one who plotted the plan to bully MHJ and separate her from NJ, but the details are twisted mostly due to misinterpreted info from lost in translations, cultural nuances, perhaps media play from the big corporation.
Bang persuaded MHJ to forget SM and create a MHJ girl group, promised it will be Hybe first girl group as well as freedom and independence in both creativity and operations. He then changed his mind and started to intervened, he recruited Sakura and Chaewon without informing MHJ while she has chosen the girls who are supposed to debut as NJ. If you were MHJ, how would you tell NJ parents that they can't debut just because of that? That's why she tries to create another label ADOR, Bang still disagree and do not allowed them to promote NJ, unless he could own 100% shares of ADOR. After few months, MHJ compromised and let him takes up all the shares just so NJ can be debuted, only after le sserafim has made it as the first girl group from Hybe. (NJ has no debut documentary, no debut showcase, no teaser, they just uploaded the MV) BTW, Hybe and Bang also disagreed on NJ songs like Attention and Hype Boy thinking it will not be a hit.
Although MHJ owns 20% of ADOR shares now, Hybe made it seems like a reward for NJ's success, but MHJ actually paid for those shares with her money, which turned into a trap and slave contract. When she was trying to talk about it in the press con, the lawyers had to stopp her to avoid lawsuit due to non-disclosure terms from Hybe. In fact, 5% of the given shares is restricted to sell without Hybe's permission, and tied to unfair non-compete terms which means she won't be able to work in similar industry in the future as long as she holds that 5% shares (even when she resigned or leave Hybe/ADOR) When she seeks clarification from Hybe, they put her off, so she was trying to seeks help from external experts, and HYBE accused her for violating the non-disclosures terms.
Mhj started off as a designer and it says alot when her concept and branding stands out among the competitive kpop market, and how her arts, visuals, concepts and branding values to her, but Bang purposely guided and participated in the debut of Illit, using the girls like a product/tool to beat/replace NJ, cause they are trying to get rid of MHJ.

bruhh I stan newjeans but if they sided with Min Heejin, they better go to school because no investor will trusts them after this. regardless if true or not, the fact that MHJ doesn't have a problem airing all that to media is a red flag to investors. just right now, investors are wary if giving freedom and independence to subsidiaries is the way to go so they want the parent to control all the subsidiaries all because of this.
