Why the hell wouldn’t he clean up? He had so much time. At minimum his sons room should have been ready and clean the dishes in the sink. I would be embarrassed.

He probably has depression/or was depressed. I get that way when I go through my depressed episodes.
I know right I can be messy I’m an artist and sometimes things get way out of control. My boyfriend is American and when he first came over I definitely spent a good two days cleaning and organising. I can’t imagine anyone would want to welcome somebody into a really messy flat.
He obviously loves them to bits and missed them no doubt, but when you can't even be bothered to clean up your place ready for their arrival and get your son's room nice for him that just speaks volumes and is not gonna go down well with any woman , not a great start!
I agree he's had 2 years to do that flat ,poor wife and son.
I think the guy has been suffering a bit with depression, I don;t want to judge him too much. Even so, I think he could have asked for help or made a bit more effort not to hide dirty plates in the cupboards. I think his partner is dealing with it considerably well, to be honest.
Even if his son's room was just a mattress on the floor with clean bedding, that would have been something. People GIVE stuff away in England you can find everything for free, it just takes a bit of effort.
That mess and my excusable no matter what

This is so selfish and insensitive. That really long flight and they can’t even relax because the home is filthy and there’s no food in the fridge! The dust is so unhealthy for a child as well. He had all the time in the world to clean up, get groceries and clean his son’s room and he did nothing at all!
I would've turned around & found a hotel for myself & my baby unless he thoroughly cleaned up 1st. I have multiple cleaning products in my house that I use to clean daily. Im self-proclaimed obsessive compulsive about cleaning. I doubt this guy even owned a mop & bucket and broom and dust pan, which are basic cleaning supplies. I saw no bleach, sponges, dish detergent, laundry detergent in his house. 😣😖

So he couldn't hire a cleaning service, painter & nip to the shop's in preparation. That would've cost about £180 - £300. I can't stand man children, if a man can't hygienically & respectfully host you then you need to block him & move on baby girl. He doesn't respect you.

I came from Colombia to the UK (Scotland) and thankfully my husband and his mum were very thoughtful and arranged the room for me giving me closet space etc. He worked full time and was a Pilates instructor so he was incredibly busy. Even to this day in our own flat we still share the house chores.
