Huge Gladius fan and ive been playing a few early builds of Zephon so I already know I like it. It'll be a day one buy for me, Proxy still racking up the wins
Zephon is an amazing game that really worked on stuff from gladius, I do wish a bit that each faction had more faction based units/tech just to make each faction feel unique like gladius was. But great game nontheless
You had me at cthulhu raptors. Just came across this game last night and you convinced me. This game is right up my alley for gameplay and theme. This Dev is worth supporting!
Yeah, I played this game's demo in 2 diferent waves, looks solid. I just don't know about longetivity, the map is kinda small and attrition is basically on every turn, but the unit design is really cool, I'd say even cooler than 40k.
Have my eye on this one. Currently Gal Civ IV and Sins of a Solar Empire 2 has my attention. I have Pandora: First Contact and Gladius from Proxy. They have been on a roll.....fun games!
Pandora is definitely dated now but I feel like it still holds up. I feel like it is never brought up. Also Sins 2 is top tier! Zephon is definitely going to have me put that on pause for a bit.
I slept on it for a while because I wasn't sure how I'd like it. But I got it on the christmas sale and holly shit it's amazing! Even just the writing and characters had me hooked, but the gameplay is super fun too.
Fantastic video, really appreciate the work you put in. One question, how did you find the system for controlling units? In Gladius, I found that units which had orders spanning over several turns would get deselected and I would lose track of them (I had to use the mouse to manually look for each). Also, the game only had the option to cycle between idle units. Units which had an order would not be shown in an automatic way, and I had to manually manage them, which was way more work than it should have been. Does this game have a proper system for managing units? (both idle and active, AND those with orders spanning over multiple turns?)
Zephon uses the same type of gameplay Proxy used for Gladius, which is a good thing, but what sells this game to me is the setting, the art style and theme. There are a few things that I think are lacking , but I wish the game as well as the Developers success.
Gladius rules, I really enjoyed my time with the Zephon demo, it felt like a true sequel in terms of gameplay upgrades and game feel. It was definitely enough for me to switch over from Gladius.
This game showed up on my recommend. Best purchase I've ever made. I loved the grim dark aspect of the world and it brought a refreshing new take on civ like games. #HumanityFirst!
@gameburn178 definitely, but that's up to the devs. And with the timespan they give us in the intro it leaves a lot of time to fit in side stories and expand on the lore between the invasion and then resurfacing of humanity to earth post destruction.
This one looks real good but I haven't even played Gladius yet, maybe it's time... Also, glad to see you continue TH-cam, I enjoy your videos so hope you don't quit!
Hi. Aside from the nice video, we really like your thumbnail art for it. It's creepy and pretty all at the same time. May I ask where it's from? Is it from the game itself, or from somewhere/something else? Thanks in advance!
Funny enough, I OWN all the other games this sudieo has made. The First I think was Pandora First Contact (kinda reminds me of Sid Miers Alpha Cestari), then they Made Warhammer 40,000 Gladius (I even managed to pick it up for free several years back). Now we have THIS GAME. Needless to say I am intrigued.
Many thanks Scarlet. I'm interested in a Gladius with WH40k extracted concept, especially with the ominous setting you describe here. Do you have an idea of what price point we're looking at, so I may budget this in?
I disagree about the story telling of dark souls, or that it is successful. I played every dark souls game and I have no idea what the story of those games is. Pretty sure many people feel like that. All factions being humans and sharing their research/unit poll really doesnt make it sound very interesting. To me it sounds more like a downgrade from gladius
I really didn't like the tiny icons and menu ui, on top of the tier list. I refunded after opening that tier list. I'll stick with the 40k gladius version.
the way I play crusader kings 3 it's only about war and expansion. Only play with religions with warmonger tenet so the more I invade other countries the happier my vassals and ppl are
@@nikolatasev4948 the random things that happen I never get bored, have to stop for 6 months or so sometimes, I hope there is a new eu with nicer graphics like ck3, would get into that a lot as well 😀
@@Woeboez I'd hope I get a response from The Scarlet Seeker himself. But since he knowgly uses the music without having the legal right to do so he probably just gonna delete this comment. But until then check out Chris Christodoulou the composer of this banger who deserves credit.
nah man, I gotta disagree Scarlet. elden ring storytelling is the worse. you'll have random characters talking to you about some kind of errrr tree(/sarcasm), or some unnamed sword, or pot, or grave, or w.e. its like playing dragon age vielguard, where sometimes the characters interactions with each other just doesn't make sense because one is talking about one thing, and the other npc is talking about another thing - leaving the players even more confused. elden ring, is similar were as. you talk to a npc, and the npc suddenly starts to talk in a riddle like rhythm with no context, making it feel like you are just passing by a conversation - in which i guess the devs wants you to piece that dialogue with a another dialogue being told from another npc, that probably has NO relations to that LAST npc that you talked too - AND if that sounded confusing, that's how i feel about fromsoft's storytelling mechanic, or lack thereof.

The I.P. has potential then.

Setting seems similar to Armageddon Empires. Also a game where story is told through unit descriptions and game events.

Thank you for this video. Gladius is so fun to play. I got this last night, and I am enjoying it as well. Thank you for this post.
damn, guess im the only one that remembers lucasarts gladius
As a Linux gamer, I really enjoyed playing Gladius natively. I came here to see if Zephon measures up. I'm looking forward to playing Zephon.
It sounds like Warhammer 40K smashed together with the Forever Winter.
Sounds like my cup of tea!
Not my kind of game, but the way you described the setting makes me want a book telling the story.
Cthulhu raptors! LOL sold!

It's a new I.P. I hear. Is there potential for more lore here. Novels, stories at least?
@gameburn178 definitely, but that's up to the devs. And with the timespan they give us in the intro it leaves a lot of time to fit in side stories and expand on the lore between the invasion and then resurfacing of humanity to earth post destruction.

Would play this, as both are very similar but this seems to be the upgrade.
This has a lot more features compared to Gladius, I'll be playing this one

I will never understand people who cry that it's a Gladius reskin despite the fact that it plays differently from Gladius in many ways.
is that music from risk of rain 2?

sorry mate no idea on price. devs are getting more cagey with telling me pre-release pricing and honestly it kinda gives me the shits...
I bought Gladius a good while back, but it is in the pile of shame. Better give it a go first. :D

Looks like mod for gladius. Why would i buy more of same thing when i can play gladius for free?
I really didn't like the tiny icons and menu ui, on top of the tier list. I refunded after opening that tier list. I'll stick with the 40k gladius version.
I would like the tier list more if it gave some better indication of their branches, maybe by colour

ZEPHON Review limited replayability, 3 factions isn't enough and they all share the same limited pool of units.
