  • I forgot to mention it in the video, but if you want to learn more about Welcome to Pooh Corner I highly recommend the Defunctland video that covers it. It's a much more in depth look at the series as a whole and is just all around a better video than this so be sure to check it out if you haven't already.
    • DefunctTV: The History...
If you were anything like me as a kid, you loved Winnie the Pooh. It was the theme of my nursery and ever since then it's been a super nostalgic thing for me. One iteration of Pooh Bear that I missed out on, however, was Welcome to Pooh Corner. It was made in the 1980s and was nothing short of terrifying. Disney live action has never been that popular I suppose, but this is just insane. So join me as I scar myself emotionally for the sake of content for this channel. You're welcome :)
I hope this video cheers you up a bit. Thank you for hanging out with me today. It means the world. Also, let's petition Disney Plus to release Welcome to Pooh Corner so that we can watch the rest of the episodes with the same level of concern as we've just watched this one. Have a great day everyone!

The number to subscribe in "Welcome to Pooh Corner" is because the Disney Channel was a pay channel, like HBO. This was recorded during a promo.

TH-cam randomly recommended me this video. I grew up with this show in re runs. And it was a bit un settling which is one of the reasons why I preferred and I still visit it from time to time the show Adventures In Wonderland. I still have some good memories watching this with my Grandma though so it's not all bad. There is some charm in this but then again I am obsessed with Retro stuff. I know this is a vid from 2020 but I love seeing videos from you whether it be from back in the day or anything current. Keep up the great work Avery

Another things (besides the unsettling character designs) that gives the show an uncanny quality for me is hearing Hal Smith do the voice of Pooh. He's this surreal in-between figure for me between Sterling Holloway and Jim Cummings (both much more famous in the role) - and I usually forget there was a period when he did the voice of Winnie the Pooh. But I believe he did Pooh's voice in the short A Day for Eeyore as well - and I have fond memories of that one. I don't mean to say his voice acting is weird or surreal or anything - just that everybody (myself included) seems to forget he ever did the voice until hearing him. It adds another layer of, "This feels... off" or "What was that weird childhood memory and why does it feel so off in my mind?" to the proceedings lol.

13:44 A little trivia and backstory I should give out... See, when I was younger I remember having a copy of "Sing a Song with Pooh Bear" where Pooh goes on the mission to find his own song to sing. (While archival footage of mostly "The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" would play while the Pooh cast dubbed over it, just to try to match the plot.) I used to think that this song, (as well as some others featured in the tape) was the original place for it. But then when I saw this very episode of "Welcome to Pooh Corner" for myself, I realized that "Try a Little Something New", and "Your the One and Only One" originally came from that very series, and would later be revived in "Sing a Song with Pooh Bear" with some lyric changes.

My favorite was always The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh which was the original movie made by Walt Disney. The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh was also a series that I really liked. The Book of Pooh is my all time favourite along with TNAOWTP as a kid, 'cause before The Christopher Robin movie, it was interesting to see Winnie the Pooh, outside 2D animation, In the UK, TBOP always used to come on Channel 5 every morning back in the early 2000s. I didn't notice Welcome to Pooh Corner until I found some episodes on TH-cam and I honestly didn't find it creppy, off key maybe. There are episodes I'd liked in this incarnation including the spaghetti episode. To be honest, I like any episode, involving Tigger, in any version of Winnie the Pooh.

Have you ever seen ‘The Book of Pooh’? If so what’s your opinion on it? I honestly think it’s a much better series than this. Mainly cause the visuals are much brighter (here they look so dull), the characters while being puppets actually look more like the cartoon versions (these look more knockoff birthday party costumes), and the voices are so much better since it’s Jim Cummings, John Fiedler, Peter Cullen and so on, i.e the cast that most people are familiar with and use to hearing.
