Hood References: Boyz N The Hood * Juice * Menace II Society * South Central * Dead Presidents * New Jack City * Higher Learning * Poetic Justice * and Jungle Fever
I'm loving these re reactions. This movie is not only one of the greatest parodies of all time but it did put an end to all those trauma filled hood movies. The joke with Ashtray's dad being a few years older than him is because Laurence Fishburne is only six years older than Cuba Gooding Jr. They were father & son in Boyz N The Hood. People said that Cuba Gooding Jr. looked older than Laurence Fishburne. The Grandma was played by the late Helen Martin. She appeared in a lot of movies & shows back in the day. Here are some fun facts: Omar Epps, Marlon Wayans & Mitch Marchand who told Grandma she had the Juice in the end all went to high school together. The driving instructor was also in South Central. He died in a car accident.
5:10 When the original movie Boys in the Hood came out, Lawrence Fisburne and Cuba Gooding, Jr. were "father and son". Gooding (Tre) is actually six years younger than Fishburne (Tre's dad). That's the joke in this part of the movie.
This had to be one of the most cahotic and funniest parodies made by the Wayne Brothers and it's crazy becuase i've recently rewatched this weeks ago! 😂👍
I watched this again and every time Shawn narrated & Damon came in saying ,”message!” they really was speaking some real shit 😮💨💯 they overlook that part
Thanks for taking me back with this movie! I remember watching the movie for the first time on VHS back in the day Can't wait for your next movie pick. Have a great day!
This might be the most outrageous comedy ever made🤣 the people gettin freaky on the dance floor, grandma being the biggest G in the movie😭 and LOC DAWG🤟🏽😂 might be in my top 5 fav comedy movie characters ever, ya better gimme some sucky sucky for $5😭🤣
"You bound to drizzown" Btw, the theory of jumping in new gang members is that if you can stand your own against a bunch of m'fers (enemies) jumping you, you can stand your own against like one or two m'fers that try to catch you slipping. Kinda moot though, when everyone in that lifestyle has burners 🔫🔫
So the dad being younger than Ashtray, I believe that's a reference to Cuba Gooding Jr and Laurence Fishbourne being close in age. Another parody makes fun of that same deal with Collin Farrell and Angelina Jolie being mother and son in Alexander.
I actually like this kind of rewatch. You're rewatching with fresh eyes after the knowledge you gained from those classic hood movies. It's kinda like watching Scream before watching all the movies it parodies, you won't get the humour or satire, but will def enjoy it more after watching all those classic horror movies. There's a certain scene in Coming to America that's similar. If you watched it before watching Trading Places, you won't understand the significance of a certain scene that links the 2 movies together. Then when you rewatch CTA again after watching Trading places, you immedietely see how both universes connect with no explanation needed. You'll also find yourself with a big smile on your face.
21:58 Yeah, I started noticing this hit list, too, as this is so wrong with the reference of Caine from Menace II Society, Radio Raheem from Do The Right Thing, and Ricky from Boyz N’ The Hood. 🤦🏾♂️💀😂😂😂
One of the main things that I love about this movie is how they brought back some of the people in the movies that they're parodying. The same lady from Ashtray's fantasy was in Boyz n the Hood. The Korean store owners return from Menace II Society. Omar Epps returns from Higher Learning. And of course, Samuel Monroe Jr returns from Menace II Society.
Loving your movie and show reaction brings a lot of joy and relaxation vibes thank you. All credit goes to you for your amazing content. Keep the good work work i know it's not easy proud of you ❤🎉😊❤
Thanks again for another video MJ. Also here’s a list of recommendations for future reactions, if you’re interested. - Jumper (2008) - Push (2009) - Race To Witch Mountain - Mr and Mrs Smith (2005) - The Cornetto Trilogy - 10,000 BC - The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003) - The One (2001) - The Medallion (2003) - Equilibrium (2002) - Bulletproof Monk - Limitless (2011) - Van Helsing (2004) - All 6 Terminator movies - All 7 live action Tranformers movies - All 6 live action Resident Evil movies - All 5 Underworld movies - GI Joe: Rise of Cobra/Retaliation - John Carter (2012) - Riddick trilogy (Director’s Cut) - Dark City (1998) - Knowing (2009) - Monsterverse movies in release order - Pacific Rim - Power Rangers (2017) - Speed Racer (2008) - Lucy (2014) - Edge of Tomorrow - Species (1995)
Oh hell yeah this is on my favorite comedy. This means a lot to me. I live in south central so everything about all the hood movies and this funny ahh parody literally hits home. Tbh I believe re reactions are better in a way. For example, you can add more conversation and just relive. Thank you for your hard work and dedication. You have yourself a magnificent day. Also when it said Janet was here it was referring to Janet Jackson's character in poetic justice 😭😂
Lol, this movie is basically a boyz n the hood parady scene for scene, just with some other references to other hood movies, kinda like the first scary movie, its just scream scene for scene, with references to other horror movies thrown in.
You should give *A Low Down Dirty Shame* from '94 a watch. One of two action movies that starred Keenen Ivory Wayans. The other being *Most Wanted* from '97 🙂
They explained why they do gay stuff as comedy once; it's because of where they're from in New York, The Village. they would interact and see them all the time. it's homage. and most of the music is east coast, ashtray even dressed like how we dressed back then in NY.
Omg yesss I would love to know more about you a Q and A would be great btw you have an adorable laugh and smile in every video can’t wait til scary movie 6 comes out anyway thank u so much Mj for everything that you do 🎞️🎥🌙🧸🦋🍁🧡🎃🌼🌻🦋🍁
Blood and Bone also I really hate that most reaction Channels Sleep on the best action Fight Movie they Should check out Michael Jai white movies ASAP 💯
The guy who play’s ashtray’s dad (Lahmard Tate) is the brother of O Dog (Larenz Tate ) from Menace to Society

“Five dollars buster” 😂😂😂😂 13:27
I say this line all the time 😂
“All the holes start to look the same?!” I fuck with you tough MJ but that’s wildest shit I’ve ever heard. Lol!
The “janet was here” is like a joke about janet jackson on poetic justice
Cuba Gooding Jr. and Laurence Fishburn were close in age when they starred in Boys N Tha Hood, hence the joke on their age differences 🤓
I did not know that. I thought it was a commentary on how young a lot of Black fathers are when they get the job.

The only a few years older joke is Laurence fishburn being a few years older than cuba jr in real life

The Driving Instructor was Ray Ray's buddy in South Central
He was also the one that gave Ricky his football back in Boyz n tha hood.
Man I wish you saw the directors cut so many scenes they removed that made certain parts funnier
I didn't know there was a director's cut. Now I gotta find it.
one of my favorite classic parody movie back in the day You Go MJ keep up the amazing work
The Baby Daddy in Jail is Guy Torry. He’s Joe Torry’s brother who played Chicago in Poetic Justice.
Ayo, shout-out to everyone who told you to re-react to this after the fact ✊🏾
“Janet Wuz Here” on the mail truck Was in reference to Janet Jackson in the Poetic Justice movie
This had to be one of the most cahotic and funniest parodies made by the Wayne Brothers and it's crazy becuase i've recently rewatched this weeks ago! 😂👍
i've lowkey been following your channel for a year now and i have to say that you really have grown as a person and as a creator, all the best to you!
First scene is a parody of Boyz N The Hood cause Laurence Fishburne and Cuba Gooding Jr are 7 years in real life and they played father and son
I watched this again and every time Shawn narrated & Damon came in saying ,”message!” they really was speaking some real shit 😮💨💯 they overlook that part
That's Keenan the one saying "message" not Damon
@@AndrewBurroughs-dt4uj my bad but you got the gist . Boys look damn near twins Keenan darker always confuse them two
Also the foreplay scene has Joe - All the Things in the background. Dashiki was the love interest in that real video.
