- Today we were having an engine hot AC off problem on our 2010 Chevy traverse basically the coolant temperature sensor was bad but this information will cover the 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 Chevy equinox 2008 GMC Acadia 2009 GMC Acadia 2010 GMC Acadia 2011 GMC Acadia 2012 GMC Acadia with the same problem and will also be the same situation on a 2008 Saturn Outlook 2009 Saturn Outlook with po 0118

Changed the coolant temperature sensor, the thermostat, and reset the computer myself. Still had the issue. I've taken it to 2 shops and all they recommend is a bunch of maintenance services, tune up, shocks, etc
Shocks?? RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN AWAY FROM THAT SHOP!!!
A guy told me if this doesn't work for me to check water pump or possibly need ecm module and mines like 500$
I'm actually sick of my 08 Chevy Equinox. I shouldn't be complaining . and Thank God I have a car. I noticed the ENGINE HOT/ TURN A/C OFF light on dash. I'm going to try to fix myself. Don't know what a shop will charge me. It looks pretty simple. Wish me luck. That you for all your help, videos and advice .
Never fear I am certain that you can do it if anyone else can do it I know you can do it to. Just be careful and take your time pay attention to what you’re doing it does not matter how long it takes you. I do wish you the best God bless have a great day
Check for frade wires at the temp sensor pig tail first!!! If ok then change thermostat !!! Do not change temp sensor waste of time!!!!!

I replaced the ECT sensor and still had the problem but sometimes you have to clear the code. I did that and all is good now

I'm on my gfs youtube right now, just wanted to let you know it also applies to 08 and 09 Pontiac torrent model. I had this problem and fixed I for 20 bucks and had to do it again because of a faulty new part. Also I just replaced the thermostat but my problem is the car is getting hot the engine is ticking and the needle fluctuates from hot to the middle position. I'm afraid I've got an expensive problem or maybe another bad thermostat.

More than likely it sounds like a wire could’ve gotten robbed and caused that problem sorry I haven’t made video of that scenario yet but I know it’s a definite possibility from the years that this video has been up and the different problems that people are talking about usually they say that it ultimately ended up being a rubbed wire it was broken down the line in the engine compartment sorry I wish I could be more specific than that

I buy and sell these for a living and do head gaskets on every single one if the car is saying a code for the sensor and putting a new sensor did not fix it you most likely need intake gaskets and while you’re there you might as well do head gaskets air gets trapped in the system from air getting sucked in at the intake and if it comes in at the intake it will not mix the oil with the coolant like when a head gasket goes
See I thought cause the temp gauge would stop that it was a coolant temp sensor I put a new one in still happens

Hey hey nice video I have a question I have a 2008 Chevy impala 3.9 and the issue I have is that over night battery goes completely dead new battery alternator is charging NOTHING in the inside left on no hidden bulbs but only at night the battery will die I’ll get a boost it’ll start right up and run all day no battery drainage no battery light on can you please direct me in the direction to solve this problem if you’ve ran into this issue thank you for your time....

Hey this just happen to me but I found out that there is a line holes that is busted? Off the back do you know any ideas which one it is ?
I’m really sorry I do not know there are about 5 to 7 hoses attached to that vehicle that could be any one of them.
And I can’t remember for certain but I believe there’s some smaller hoses that can break that carry coolant as well it’s extremely critical that you get a coolant leak fixed in one of these particular engines because they will overheat very quickly.
I guess most engines will overheat very quickly and it’s never good to overheat an engine. Sorry I wish I could help you pinpoint that problem

mark Scharwath yep sensor very unlikely to fail! First too off fluids, then check pigtail for frade wires if good replace thermostat!! Scanner will say its sensor!!! It’s not!! Thermostat is stuck open so pcm is confused!!

@@sharpcarco it doesn't look like it's overheating but the sensor light come on and the cooling fans also
If the fans run constantly then it needs a new coolant temperature sensor or there’s possibly a broken wire.
If I cannot reset the code will it still overheat
I replace my coolant sensor and it keeps burning the sensors up what could it be besides that ?

Maybe the plug? You probably need a new Connection wire.

Hello..my equinox got a flush done and it has a new thermostat and new coolant temperature sensor on. It was fine for one day and then the "engine hot a/off" light came on again.. is there anything else I should look for it replace? Thank you

I replaced my temp sensor a couple months ago and also had to replace the harness as the clip broke when removing off temp sensor.(*@*&$*) However, now I'm getting the P0119 code again. When I replaced the wires it was very hard to tell which was the ground/hot when I connected temp sensor back to the motor because the old wires were burnt. I cut wire back to non-burn area, but still hard to tell which wire was neutral/hot. I did read that if i put wires on backwards that the gauge would also read backwards, but what I read, having the wires backwards didn't seem to be an issue with regards to shorting the sensor out. The temp gauge reading looks normal around the 210 when starting and rises over time. Earlier, I did swap the relay out with a different relay in fuse box, but still have same issues. Any thoughts on this or what to try/test next? I dread thinking about having to reattach to temp sensor harness to the motor as the wires are very short before leading back into a larger harness just on top of motor.

Did that code keep the car from starting I have the same code my my Traverse it cranks but wont start and when it did start the fans did the same thing you described in your video the fans came on high and wouldn't turn off until I turned the car off but when I tried to start it up again but it just cranking but not starting
Hi DJ I honestly can’t remember and that was the last time I had to work on one of these with this problem I think there was a starting issue every once in a while and it did take care of that but I cannot say for certain I wish I could be of more help to you I apologize
@@sharpcarco it's no problem as soon as I put it in the car its started up right away no hesitation at all and hasn't had a starting issue since and i appreciate you getting back to me thank you very much

Enclave 2012,engine hot ac off and fnas on after turning it off. Happened once before and it was a sensor; radiator has water. What should I do or ask when take it to the shop? The ac hose was fixed in October and I had ac for 2 weeks and now is not working again
Disconnect the battery for 5 minutes. Reconnect and problem is gone. Chevy should be sued for the thousands spent for this error message. This catch-all message isn't appropriate. It triggers when the engine does not heat up fast enough. The last thing you want is to turn on your radiator fans??? This often happens in colder areas.
etc its not the problem !!!! ,,all mecanic says replace this,,replace thermostat,,check level,,,all falses !!! its need ecu reprograming..or a wire is damage and pull resistance...and gm sould do a recall for this !!!!

@@vtimou5772 I unplugged the battery it went off. Hopefully that will hold me until I get the thermostat put on or it rewired
Check evape cannister thermostat black gas box look like vcr near gas.engine coolant temp sensor camshaft position sensor or crank sensor could be wire harness.on the sensor connectors could need a radiator fuel pump gas cap new radiator fan either of them bottom line take it to a dealer or pep boys and get a real test.done to no the problem instead wasting money guessing on mechanics

I’m certain it’s pretty obvious that there’s something else wrong unfortunately I can’t give you a direction on where to go. Take it to the shop pay them $75 and they will tell you what’s wrong with it then you can take it home and fix it
