Next time, use a linden, birch or alder block instead of sticking ice cream sticks together. This soft wood is perfect for chisels, files and sandpaper. Do not use any more knife to cut paper and carpet. The sides should be glued to the side of the hull and then sanded evenly with sandpaper. if necessary, a lower hull can be made and then a 2-3 mm slightly narrower part is glued. It will make a nice protrusion to which the bulwark sticks. Instead of painting and drawing the deck planks, print them on a piece of paper and stick them on. Much better effect. And the flag on the mast should be flying in the direction of the sails, i.e. towards the bow. Plus, modeling is fun and educational. I wish you successes. 👍 🙂
I tried it once. The paint wore off and the sail got wet ( i spent 4 hours tying the tishue paper with a thin needle & string ) and instantly regret it. Now its kinda my hobby.
This was really good and I loved it, not to mention I liked the sails. I have a few questions and I'm not trying to be rude, but I also I tried this myself. But mine have the ridges from the popsicle sticks along the sides and they show as wooden boards when I painted them. Why didn't your's have the same effect? Did you not use popsicle sticks all the way through? or did you just cover the four sides with the sticks and have some sort of other wood for the insides? Just wondering, because I'm not seeing any ridges where the stick were glued together and you were able to carve it so smoothly without any of the sticks popping off oddly because they are popsicle sticks and that what they do, not matter how good at carving a person is. If you used a different type of wood, I'd like to know what type it was so I can follow along, because honestly I don't think it was popsicle sticks all the way through. Again I'm not trying to be rude here. It's still a wonderful ship and I'm glad I found it (even if I hadn't seen it before I built mine) Nice work.
I used popsicle sticks in this video. I think you need to use nice and straight popsicle sticks so that when glue he has no space. You also need to use a clamp In this video i have shown how i glue popsicle sticks 1. I glue the popsicles on top of each other. then I use sandpaper on the edges to make it flat (this step is not in the video) 2. then I put more popsicle sticks on the side to cover the line of popsicle sticks. To get a flat surface I use a mini grinder and also sandpaper I am not very good at english but i hope this helps
