The state of Taekwondo today is so sad. The attacking kicks are slow and precision counter kicks are far and few. The Korean player had some minor flashes of old school with punching and round house kicks to the body. The stamina of these two players is laughable for a fight only 2 minutes long (It used to be 3 min/rd). It also seems like they have no conviction in the fight. The majority of the fight is quiet... Where are the loud shouts after unleashing "power kicks" ? The answer is there are no power kicks. They are content with just touching each other. I guess that is to be expected when the sport has deteriorated to foot fencing for the sensors. Compared to the late 90s and early 2000s this fight is in slow motion. I want the "cut kick" banned. It is ugly, boring and cheap. I am ok with electronic scoring but remove this stupid excuse for a "kick" from competition and I am sure we will see the speed come back as "proper", fast and powerful execution are required, not some lazy foot fencing. Exactly. And that Korean guy is supposed to be the world No. 1 too SMH. The sensors ruined a once spectacular sport and martial art. Casuals watching now would be laughing their ass off at the foot fencing
As a blackbelt, I must say that I am too disappointed to see such a "fight". I spare from time to time with a friend and I am 100 % sure that it is more interesting to watch than this fight. Can somebody explain me how it turned this way?

I am a karateka, not tae kwon do , however any sensei who specializes in kumite will agree , quality of the fighters on olympic level currently sucks, they too hung up on points instead of the battle, the way of the warrior, i dont see warriors there, GMO martial art.
Cuz it's not supposed to be a "battle fight" for goods.. this isn't street fighting wich the goals is to take down the enemies.. this is sports.. know the difference..🤡

This is WT Taekwondo, or Olympic style Taekwondo. Its become a sport like foot fencing. But the real martial art still exists as ITF Taekwondo, and is very effective when used for actual full contact fights.

Not really the government s fault. Old school WTF tkd is too hardcore with too many KOs to be considered an Olympic sport. They wanted tkd to be an Olympic sport and this was the compromise they had to come to
