Spain's Joel Gonzalez Bonilla defeats Korea's Lee Daehoon to win the gold medal in the men's taekwondo -58kg event at the London 2012 Olympic Games (8 August).
Taekwondo is a traditional Korean martial art, which means "the way of kicking and punching". In taekwondo, hands and feet can be used to overcome an opponent, but the trademark of the sport is its combination of kick movements. Taekwondo is one of the two Asian martial arts included on the Olympic programme. Taekwondo made its debut as a demonstration Olympic sport at the 1988 Seoul Games, and became an official medal sport at the 2000 Sydney Games.

12:43 what a kick!
I agree an bit to the face
Wow, cool
Tu opinión, es justamente eso. Importante pero irrelevante. Lao Tse
Can't believe the judges missed that first head shot by Bonilla as the impact of the kick caused Daehoon to spin around like a frisbee.
12:45 I still remember the scream I had when Joel landed that. I knew the fight was over and that he had clinched the gold 90% with that spinning kick to the head!
Eres un crack Joel🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸
It was a good fight.
Qué paliza le metió. Memorable, vamos.
Amazed how lee daehoon is so much better now.
To be honest, this is a good fight
Yeah, people who don't practice TKD will think i'ts boring but they're pretty good, but you would expect them to be a bit faster
thats true
Menudo combate.......
Muchas felicidades ..........
Te puesto un like👍🏻.

u just made my day
In speed, Joel Gonzalez slower than Lee Dae Hoon a bit but he's very good in technical and calm. Lee Dae Hoon After being eaten by 3 points in the face at first, then he is began to keep out of temper, constant attacks continuity and get loopholes makes Joel Gonzalez had a chance to counter-attack. => I appreciate Joel Gonzalez. Speed is not everything.
I love Judo and Taekwondo
It definitely is a face full of foot :-) You englishmen have some divine expressions.
Spain!

good match
after this fight lee dae hoon become unstoppable
I love you LEE DAE HOON
wonderful joel
Does Gonzalez have any advantage because he's taller? His legs are so long!
Well yeah..
Yes but no at the same time
It all depends on how good the shorter fighter is at closing the gap, versus how well the tall fighter keeps the distance
Yes. A very common move in TKD is pushing your opponent's torso with your leg to keep distance but it's no guaranteed win
Vamos España!!!
The hang kicks started here. And from this fight taekwondo is change..
Thank you so mac wandarful iloveu
the reason olympic fights looks different than normal sparring is because the combatants are afraid to take risks. I'm sure they're talented fighters
Because a punch awards only one point and is used more commonly to just push someone off balance. Not only that, a punch has shorter range and nowadays they tend to split the players as soon as they even come into a clinch so there is almost no time to deliver a punch. It is usually better to opt for a high section crescent kick when they're in close quarters for 3 points instead of a measly punch for 1 point.
Great fight 💪💪💪💪🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nothing like the 90's and 2000
what is the name of the song in the final part ?
Enhorabuena yo también hago taekwondo
Totally agree dude. Korea at the end was giving up already. He was bending down they are suppose to be able to have the best endurance in the whole tkd system.
It's the OLYMPICS! They got where they are because they're the best in the world at what they do. Are you seriously going to criticize their footwork?
basketball (every category) football handball formula 1 tennis moto gp and many martial arts
I find taekwondo more interesting then the other events in the Olympics
This guy gets it too.
C'mon guys don't hate. Try to fight this guys and see for yourself. They made it to the olympics that means they have skills.
Como no se puede votar, digo:

This guy gets it.
Now, punches that knock the whole body back are considered as points.
Referee's head shines brighter than my future
Dropped school, became martial artist.
Yes school adds stress cc
I was being sarcastic about spanish student reality. :/
Jano School isn't that easy on Spain, you should not think the students fail because people in Spain are just dumb. As a person who has experienced the educational system of three countries(Lithuania, Spain and recently UK), I find myself pretty sure of what I say while telling you now that school in Spain is tough. There are a lot of contents, especially on secondary school and college, and usually lack of time. Furthermore, it should be taken into account how easy, in comparison with other countries, it is to become a teacher, and how some of them aren't dropped no matter how many parents complain just because they had good results at an exam of maybe twenty years ago.
Ugh.
I live in a third world country. Is worse than Spain. I'm not saying that spaniards are dumb. Just weak or lazy.
Jano topics everywhere!
Goodd 👍
i like the way they kick
¡españa!
Ciao a tutti
I'm new to this but is the spain guy allowed to block all the kicks with his arms and hands?
And how can one get an orange or red flag?

Because it's easier to combo with roundhouses than back kicks and axe kicks and spinning hook kicks. plus if they wanted to win, they had to have been very patient, remember, this isn't a mere tournament, it's far more important.
Sain's right leg is really good. Korea panicked too much!
Are punches allowed at points or is it just kicking
Cung Le has used successfully TKD in MMA.
Do you remember Cro Cop?
Upset city I thought the Korean would win but Joel pulled it through it shows us that the new style of just doing push kicks and head aren't going to work every time and that if done right even using simple techniques can win you a fight
Tinnie Tempa - Written in the Stars. Espero que te sirva y sigas vivo
Que makina eres
Even an "only fists" round could be added.
If we want to force fighters to use more techniques, there are means to reach that goal.
I had no clue there was a country called Uruba. Now I know =).
Don't forget Field Hockey cycling and Waterpolo as well.
Me acabo de examinar de cinturon negro y e aprovado!!
+Navarro Miguel Angel Enhorabuena!!!
Dude it's the finals...this match is to decide whether or not you get gold. If they do all this fancy stuff you're talking about there is a chance that the opponent can use a counterattack, hence lossing. 90% of the kicks ARE round kicks because its safe and there is a possiblity to do combinations after a round kick, where as if you do a hook kick you're done for. If you miss the opponent kick.
Roundhouse kicks could be forbidden in the second round, to force fighters to enhance their technical background
you're right and every time they get in the flour they loose martial spirit and goal... a new kind of taekwondo fights must be create !
Whats that spray their spraying
ice hot
that's right :DD and petanque!
no doubt.i agree wth u..i dont have any hstory in taekwondo cmpettion but i know the rules..the changes of rule in taekwondo cmpttion and the advancement of tools made the sparring looks very akward especially for the point on the head and the electronic vest.but anyway thats the mdrnztion meant to be.
what is that spray they keep getting the players with?
its like icy hot
i dont know, not the best moment to tag anything bruh
Cloruro de etilo
is there no punches ?
Korean boy so so so handsome
The korean loves the reflex smell. And the ground too..
I wonder if karate players can fight in the taekwondo. How is it different from karate? Is it possible for a karate player to switch to taekwondo to fight on Olympic games?
i saw alot of sidekicks and back kicks.
16:20 que significa omega?
Es una marca de relojes xD
mola
WOW. You must be so much better than them. So how many gold or silver medals do you have?
Am I the only one who thought that he was toreador on the thumbnail.
Mark marquez bisa juga tekwondo
hey guys i think your comments are much valuer than these fights.take your hands up for commento
.....
Anyone who wants to participate can - they have to compete within the rules, but if they have the right skills, they can. It's like asking if a Hockey player could compete in Lacrosse... sure, but he'd have to work his way up like everyone else. Chuck Norris was really a Taekwondo (Tang soo do) artist, but a Karate champion, for example.
what is taekwondo
an destruido un deporte hermoso
por esto ya en muchos lugares
ni se practica
The thing is its all about scoring. I absolutely agree with you but... welcome to olympic sparring...
