It did get stupid hard towards the end tho.......then I checked some videogame magazine and they had cheats!!! I tried my damndest to play without the cheats, I nearly had a stroke. It just became cheap towards the end, especially at Sosa's estate, I loved this game though. Just beat it again recently after acquiring a copy off of Ebay, with no scratches......imagine my surprise😁👍
you can purchase a modded xbox with j-tag/or rgh exploits and install a hacked emulator that makes all games backwards compatible, but some games are a hit and miss cause i cant get my controller inputs to work with time splitters 2 lol
This game was one of my childhood favorites. (For reference, I was given Grand Theft Auto 3 when I was four years old in 2003.) This game and The Godfather game I think are the two best games based off of movies that I've ever played.
Daniel Gibson The name has nothing to do with guns actually. gurrenlagann.wikia.com/wiki/Gunman But I disagree. I actually learned a lot from violent games, I daresay I've learned more useful things from video games as a kid than from most of high school.
Profane Gunman I was born in 2001 and I remember playing Grand Theft Auto 3 in San Andreas when I was 4 also. I didn't know anything about the game all I knew was that you could drive around and run people over which I thought was fun and fly airplanes. When this game came out naturally my brother had to buy it who was many years older than I was and I had a blast playing this game in particular. I remember me and my sister who is a year older than me would play a little mini game where we would swim out to sea and see how long we dared stay in the ocean before we would swim back because the shark away is terrified us. This game is the reason I want to get a PS2 again.
No Daniel, you should play kid games. Grownup world is too damn harsh for you obviously. Also, go cry in your safe space and fuck right fucking off you snowflake piece of shit.
It's pretty interesting how some of the mechanics in this were done in GTA IV , mainly the way you lose cops and such, the cellphone stuff, and heck, even more, Chinatown Wars is basically this game minus a few things.
I was able to get it and play it on PC, and it ran horribly in certain areas and perfectly in others, but was always bad while driving. How did I get it? Well... Yar har fiddle dee dee~
robensate The port is awesome apart from some incompatibilities with modern OS, which can be easily solved. It has the best graphics of all the ports, particularly the water effects. I even have gameplay of it running on Windows 7 64-bit. Google Scarface PCGamingWiki. Have fun! :)
Thank you so much for reviewing old and lesser known games like this. I would have never heard of this game without this review. It looks fun so I might actually get this
@@johngough6084 It never received the attention it deserved. There was loads of great games out around the same time that over shadowed it like The Godfather that seemed better marketed. Even loads of my mate that were huge Scarface fans missed this release.
I’d love to see another Scarface game or a remaster. Never got a chance to play this game back in the day and only recently watched Scarface, and it was great.
I remember I preordered it for ps2 and got a rad poster of Tony with the sling on sitting at the table pointing the gun, and if you looked closely you can see its made of the movie script!
You have slowly become my favorite reviewer on YT & I watch a lot of them, you seem to have a similar perspective to my own, especially with many older games that you see the fun & immersion with like myself. I quite enjoyed your profile of "Scarface" here, a real gem on the old Xbox. I ironically just found a mint copy of the Xbox game & the strategy guide as I am just about to delve into it on my newly modded oriiginal Xbox soon. A spot on review man!
Gaming Pastime Just had one of my three clean working Xbox consoles modded with a new Samsung DVD drive, new clock capacitor, 500 GB HDD & a NASA quality cleaning & thermal paste, it also has Coin Ops 8 installed. "Scarface" will be my first Xbox game installed & played on it.
Not every video game has to have an amazing story and dialogue. Sometimes it’s nice to have a game where you just shoot shit up. This was that game for me.
The funny thing about the 80's is, that according to my parents, it felt largely the same as nower days does....not the same but not like it was a mystery wonder land either. So a game set in the 80's that doesn't oversell the thing to the point of cliche...is quite nice, despite it being an aesthetic I do like from time to time. But yeah, I really enjoyed this game back when, so much fun.
i like the art of the game. it sucks that back then we had low grade technology but talented people to make the games. now it switched. we have good graphics technology but not they add restrictions and a boring game for dlc multiplayer these days
this is the best review i've seen on the internet and i've been on the internet for 20 odd years. It has background info which is crucial to any review........
Been thinking of getting this for a while now but I didn't know about the gang territory & empire building aspects of it, all it reminds me of is the Saint Row series so I'm imagining they were influenced somewhat by this game.
Hadn't it occurred to you the reason why Tony never kills any civilians is because that's part of his character? Even Tony said it himself in the film: "No kids!"
My now wife bought this for me when it came out years ago. Eb games had a deal at the time where you got the dvd and game guide when you pre ordered the game. Looking at the, now as we speak, I am now 35 years old. This review showed up on my recommended list, glad it did because it introduced me to your channel. Excellent review! Spot on. Subscribed. This was the first video I watched of your guys, and I haven't been here long, but you went from 5k to almost 12k since I've been here, and that's crazy to me.
Personally in my opinion it’s a very very informative and detailed review man! I’m a big Scarface fan. I mean the movie and this game. You explained so many things about its gameplay, it’s a cool idea to talk about this game’s best sides. I think you deserve more attention cause you are doing a great job! The xbox version looks so good, I think a bit better than the PC one. Keep it up, I subbed to your channel! And do reviews on good old gold games :)
This game is very similar to the 'Godfather' games with the open world design and the empire building, but those games actually loosely follow the movies by putting you on the spot of many scenes from the movies ('The Godfather' takes place in 'The Godfather: Part I' and 'The Godfather 2' takes place in The 'Godfather: Part II', obviously). So if you liked this game, you should gvie those two a shot as well.
Finally getting the attention you deserve, I see! BTW, I was subscribed to your channel but TH-cam blocked my for copyright infringements, so this is my new channel. Subbed!

Great review - I love this review of an older forgotten game. We use to come home after school and head over to my friends house and play this for hours. My only note is I’d like to see the pacing of information slowed down a bit. Often points in the video I felt like I was being blasted by numbers, information etc. Take a second. Breathe. Be a little more natural. Cheers
Great review. Very in-depth. I wonder if this will come to backward compatibility on Xbox One. That would be great. I read that it's BC on 360 but I don't have one of those anymore and am running out of excuses to buy one considering most of the games I want to play again are BC on Xbox One. This and The Simpsons: Hit & Run, also from Radical Entertainment, would be great additions.
I know I'm a bit late but you should consider visiting PC Gaming Wiki and apply some of the fixes listed there. I am now able to play the game on a modern Windows 10 PC without problems and with steady 60 FPS.
Wow awesome review man you actually went ahead and did in an depth review of the game rather then do summaries like most reviewers nowadays do pretty awesome stuff man you just earned a sub,
If you like this game's empire building, you might like Godfather 2's (2009 game). The story is bad according to people, but you can tell your henchmen to attack enemy's spot while you do other things etc.
I loved Scarface. In my opinion, it's one of the best movies of the 1980's (the '30s version was good, too) and I liked the game that inspired it, GTA: Vice City. And I absolutely loved playing The World is Yours.
Wow, what a deep and detailed review. Honestly didn’t know this game was a base builder fused with GTA. I assumed it was more of a full blown GTA clone.
I know that when you level up a new letter highlights in the underlined is the progress bar but it took me the longest time to realize that his suit changes every time also
I enjoyed all your twisted metal reviews and after seeing your GTA ones I wondered if you ever played Scarface and sure enough you even reviewed it. This game was great, it’s a shame it isn’t really talked about.
I need to give this game a try again. A few years ago I made it all the way to South Beach but that damn drug buying/selling mini game got brutal. Also goddamn did this game have great music. Iggy Pop, Ministry, Run DMC, Billy Ocean, Suicidal Tendencies and so many other bangers. I honestly think the soundtrack stacks up with some of the GTA games
I think game got caught being released at a time when graphics were really changing and people were justified of being everything low resolution and it's a shame because it's a seriously well crafted game!!
I have the wii version. Its pretty much good and its only motion control you have to put up is just pointing at the screen and shoot for the most part.
This game is pure wish fulfillment. I feel like it only barely touches on heavy themes and instead indulges in the simple pleasures of being one of film's greatest mobsters.
You ever play the godfather games? I remember playing the first one as a kid many years ago, then years later I saw the movie and then again I played the game years after seeing the movie and I was stunned how accurately they followed the movie.
strategywiki.org/wiki/The_Godfather:_The_Game/Moneybags In free roam you can find one south from Al Neri contracts in Midtown (in that park), just follow Corleone man, sometimes it doesnt spawns, than one in far north-east part of trainyard in Hells Kitchen, guarded by Straccis man if i remeber, and one in Hells Kitchen industrial, in sewers, again guarded by some people.
Theres a way to pee in comand when your ball meter is full. I haven't figured it out. Runs smooth in the xbox. Definitely a must have game. When you have beaten it about 8 times that sayes it all.
I bought this game a while back for the PlayStation 2, and while I do respect your opinion on this game, I truthfully have to disagree with you on calling this game excellent. For me, it was between average and mediocre. On the one hand, it was _Scarface_ . Who wouldn't want to play a game based on one of the best crime films from the 1980s? But on the other hand, there was so much that brought it down for me. As you said in the video, the plot was just terrible. It was a crummy revenge story that also focused on Tony rebuilding his empire. There was no character development, which made me not care a lot for the characters. Then there were the circle QTEs, which were overused and usually ended in disaster for me. It was a chore to go around Miami, collecting cash from all the business assets while also dealing with hostile gang members either chasing you down or attacking one of your businesses when you're way on the other side of the map. It was also too easy to die, and every time you restarted at a checkpoint during a mission you lost all the cash and drugs that you acquired in the first few parts of said mission. And lastly, like you said, the game just didn't have that retro-1980s feel that _GTA: Vice City_ had, and I know why: the soundtrack. Sure, the game included all the iconic songs from the film as well as different songs from the era like Billy Ocean's _Caribbean Queen_ and Shannon's _Let The Music Play_ , but those were the only two categories that one could register under 1980s music. Everything else in the game sounded like either 1990s or 2000s music, which begs the question as to why Radical Entertainment would add them in considering that the game is set in 1983. They should have taken a note from both _Vice City_ and _Vice City Stories_ ' soundtrack and made an amazing collection of 1980s music, but no we were left with....well, whatever mess that was in the game. Again, I respect your opinion, but I have to disagree on calling it excellent. Compared to other open-world games that came out during that year like _Vice City Stories_ , _Saints Row_ , and even that of _Bully_ , this game pales in comparison as those games at least had good stories, great open-worlds, amazing in-depth characters, good gameplay that wasn't complicated, and also soundtracks that fit the respective games so well. This game just left a bad taste in my mouth even until the end, and it probably didn't help either that the copy I bought was rather messed up, so I had to restart my console whenever the game went into a softlock. That's it. That's all I have to say about this game. EDIT: Sorry for the long comment by the way. I just couldn't express my opinion in just a few short sentences.
I really enjoyed the combat and empire stuff. It is a little tedious driving around collecting cash but there's something addictive about raking in all that money at once. Some of the empire stuff should have been automated in my opinion. You do acquire more health as you progress and "meet" women. I do agree about the checkpoint system. I agree the soundtrack was pretty bad but that's subjective anyway. But I don't know if the music is the sole reason VC was as 80s as it was. When I was a kid, I would only listen to VCPR. Then I discovered Slayer and the rest is history. But I think it's the way the city is designed itself, the pedestrians, the colors, etc. And that's in addition to the superb soundtrack. Scarface just doesn't have that spark.
Imo, Scarface had a better soundtrack than both Vice City and Stories (which soundtracks I always found horribly overrated anyway, as well as Vice City as a game in general). But most importantly, it had really good gameplay, making Vice City look like a cheap indie game in that department. The gunplay was easily the best in open world gaming, better than any of the GTAs provided you free aim, where weapons have actual recoil that doesn't reset itself for you.
@ Gaming Pastime - You know what? You could be right about that. The layout of the city, the colors, and pedestrians also contributed to the 80's feel of _Vice City_ . Again, I wish _Scarface: The World Is Yours_ did have that 1980's nostalgia that both _Vice City_ games had, but I already spoke my piece on that.
@ DBawg - Personally, I feel _San Andreas_ is the horribly overrated game in the series. A weak plot that goes on too long, annoying characters, average soundtrack, and an open-world that felt more like a backdrop than a great setting. It doesn't also help that if you speak ill of it then the tons of fanboys come flocking to you just to insult you. For me, _Vice City_ is the perfect game in the series just because everything was better. The story (even if it was _Scarface: Rockstar Edition_ lol), characters, soundtrack, and while the map was small it was still rather detailed. Even the many activities in the game didn't bore me as much as what _San Andreas_ had to offer. As for _The World Is Yours_ , it's cool that you could enjoy it. The sad thing is that I really wanted to like it, but was rather disappointed in it's execution. I love the movie, but I just can't get into this game. Truthfully, I never cared about gunplay in an open-world game. I just want the ability to aim a gun and shoot if you know what I mean.
I never knew this game existed until i walked into a game shop today and I had to get it for my og xbox cause it's my fav movie of all time best 25 dollars I've ever spent
If you couldn't get the PC version running well, try the Wii version. Yeah, it had more technical issues than the other console versions, but, it's *like* playing with a mouse and keyboard (albeit harder) and just so much fun. Also groin shots anyone? Idk why they're so entertaining...
The developers of this game saw this as a joke/parody of the movie with a what if premise, it still tried to retain all things scarface and when i see it in that perspective that kinda explains a few things and why alot of it is wacky nonsense, forced and contrived throughout. I feel it suffers because it focused on that a little bit more than making it authentic enough to believe especially with character building. Gta vc was literally that and executed that very well
I think GTA VI should take notes from the empire building in this game and improve on the mechanics. Especially if it's going to be located in Vice City again. Just the fact that it's titled Project Americas is giving me hope that they actually are lol.
I really like this game but the Gang Heat is annoying, it builds up very fast by just doing what you have to do in the game, and it's way to expensive to pay off all the time if you want to progress in the game, and letting it stay high is not really an option either. That's why I always use the lower gang heat cheat to eliminate that problem
First time I played this i remember being fucking amazed by the sound effects of the guns and the music in the game. The last mission was way to hard though couldn't beat it without cheats
They seriously need to remaster this, and add to it too of course. This game was great!
Totally agree, Imagine the graphics and the new things you can buy 😍

I enjoyed all your twisted metal reviews and after seeing your GTA ones I wondered if you ever played Scarface and sure enough you even reviewed it. This game was great, it’s a shame it isn’t really talked about.
Scarface is not a GTA cone it been out since ‘83
one of the best game i ever played.
ima need a modern remaster with a decent pc port of this
7:35 Wilhelm scream?
I need to give this game a try again. A few years ago I made it all the way to South Beach but that damn drug buying/selling mini game got brutal.
Also goddamn did this game have great music. Iggy Pop, Ministry, Run DMC, Billy Ocean, Suicidal Tendencies and so many other bangers. I honestly think the soundtrack stacks up with some of the GTA games
I played this game as a kid and I love it
I think game got caught being released at a time when graphics were really changing and people were justified of being everything low resolution and it's a shame because it's a seriously well crafted game!!
You wanna play rough?! Okay!!
*SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!*
**BOOM!!**
Whos world is this?
I have the wii version. Its pretty much good and its only motion control you have to put up is just pointing at the screen and shoot for the most part.
Back then i would play this for hours. It was sooo fun. I would play it on my xbox
It's only game i really cared for this year's e3
This game is pure wish fulfillment. I feel like it only barely touches on heavy themes and instead indulges in the simple pleasures of being one of film's greatest mobsters.
7:35 No Effin way!! The Wilhelm Scream?? I must play this game now lol.
You ever play the godfather games? I remember playing the first one as a kid many years ago, then years later I saw the movie and then again I played the game years after seeing the movie and I was stunned how accurately they followed the movie.
Found all mission money bags?
Nah man. I did find the reels.

In free roam you can find one south from Al Neri contracts in Midtown (in that park), just follow Corleone man, sometimes it doesnt spawns, than one in far north-east part of trainyard in Hells Kitchen, guarded by Straccis man if i remeber, and one in Hells Kitchen industrial, in sewers, again guarded by some people.
They need to make this backwards compatible for the Xbox one God I can't wait
Clayton Luce This game really was excellent and the soundtrack was good too. You must be 12 years old.
Man wow this looks like a gem of a game that I never new existed
They really should've just ADR'ed that whole intro up to where you take control.
Tony being eaten by a shark > drowning because your leather jacket weighed you down
I never knew this game existed until i walked into a game shop today and I had to get it for my og xbox cause it's my fav movie of all time best 25 dollars I've ever spent
this game was awesome
You should review the psp Scarface: Money, Power, Respect game.
nah, man. you're crazy.
I haven’t played this game and I would love too, I loved the movie, and I gotta say the graphics in game are very good for the time
Dude you are fucking awesome I love your review style
I really like this game but the Gang Heat is annoying, it builds up very fast by just doing what you have to do in the game, and it's way to expensive to pay off all the time if you want to progress in the game, and letting it stay high is not really an option either. That's why I always use the lower gang heat cheat to eliminate that problem
First time I played this i remember being fucking amazed by the sound effects of the guns and the music in the game. The last mission was way to hard though couldn't beat it without cheats
I enjoyed both the game and the movie. It was nice seeing Al Pacino not playing himself like he's basically been doing for the past 2 decades or more.
