Hi Kayla. I am new stay at home mom with a 2 months old baby now. I live very far from my family ( like half the planet far) and right now relating to you through your videos is what keeps me going. You are keeping it real and I just wanted to thank you for that soooo much!! Also, you really glow when you are with your parents and siblings. I hope soon things will calm down and the visits can become more frequent. I know how lonely it is for close families to be separated like this (again, half the planet...) Anyway, thank you again.

You are so calm in spite of a huge to do list. I would be having such a hard time handling everything that is on your plate. You’re seriously a rock star.

I have a baby girl who's 5 1/2 months old. We moved her to her bedroom and started teaching her to sleep on her own. There were a few nights when she cried for a few minutes (we entered the room after 3 to 5 minutes, calmed her down in the crib, without holding her, and left the room). And now she's sleeping all night!! 12 hours! (I'm breastfeeding her). Plus having our room back is so good. To be able to speak to my partner is great and move without tiptoeing is great. I'm sure the sleep training will turn out great!! Kisses from Argentina.

That state map is such a great idea! Don’t feel bad, I remember that lesson in geography and still don’t know where any of the states are! Anything along the coast I’m pretty good but once you get to the middle of the country, I have no idea.

you can cut/peel off 1/2 the avocado skin so when he picks it up he's holding it by the peel but can get a better bite. the hapa family youtube channel has a great BLW video where she shows a lot of tips like this.

You can use that popsicle mold to make little frozen objects for little miss too. Stick in plastic figurines or Pom poms and add water and freeze then let her play

Great BLW finds! I also really like that stroller fan. For the popsicle molds, every time I make a smoothie I pour the leftovers into the mold and freeze it to make a smoothie pop! my daughter loves them and they have all sorts of nutritious goodies!

I don't know if you've read this is any of your BLW books, but don't be afraid to add some seasonings to Jackson's food so he can really experience new flavors. Just obviously watch how much salt, etc you do put.

It's super common to be fussy when they're learning to crawl. It's the frustration of the process for them. Help him to master it and it should help ease it faster.

I cannot wait for the baby led weaning videos!! Both Jacskon and Riley are getting soooo big :-(
We loooove sweet potatoes, but we swapped for avocado oil as it is more suitable and also healthier for higher temperature cooking and baking than olive oil - olive oil can change from a monounsaturated (good fat) to a trans-fat (very bad fat) while frying or baking with it. I love the Chosen food brand! Hope you don't mind my tip, love you

  • @philippapay4352

That cutie pie is going to crawl any day now! Just don't leave a loose blanket under his playmat or anything that will not allow him solid purchase with his hands and knees on the floor that he is depending upon for security and balance. No throw rugs, etc. He's a munchkin man with a plan. He wants to get to things to get into. It's so funny: for us, not for you I'm sure. You will be the one running around after two tykes who can locomote. Leave a floor-level cabinet or drawer in the kitchen with Tupperware or miscellaneous pots and pans so he can open it and play with them. He will want to imitate seeing you and Joe work with kitchen things, so that won't hurt anything. And it will be one drawer or cabinet that you won't have to lock. He will be able to mess with that stuff on the floor near you while you are working in the kitchen. Riley is getting to the age where she will soon be able to put her plates, utensils in the sink and soon thereafter rinse them for the dishwasher. That's along with doing the fun stuff, like mixing ingredients to make cookies or her favorite pancakes and such. And always licking the spoon thereafter. Was that mountain home near Boone, NC? It was so beautiful. That is near both the eastern and western parts of NC, so instead of Hawaiian pizza you could have had great barbecue in either famous style from that region. Their barbecue differs in both areas from TX, GA, TN, and other parts of the deep south or southwest. It's delicious and gives you a real experience of the region in addition to great times with family and the magnificent nature to explore. Even the rain in a place like that feels cleansing, calming, doesn't it? And it is particularly delightful when you can be on the porch and not get wet or near the fireplace inside to stay warm, if it makes you feel chilled. I could die of envy! Riley's hair is so curly that even in a ponytail atop her head it is curling almost to the point of looking like a bun. It is so pretty. I want curly hair! Jackson will just have to take one extra nap, if he's moving up his awakening time a whole sleep cycle earlier than usual. I do have to laugh. And I'm not promoting the Snoo. But you said you all were not huge fans of it, but then it must be said that your son is not a huge fan of sleep. LOL. Riley will go by memory for those puzzles, but also by her ever-developing knowledge of what animals and fish and insects look like, so where do their heads and legs usually go. She will be using accumulated knowledge. That's good for her. And if she asks for your help, you can ask her where would the legs be most useful for this creature or where would the head with eyes in it need to be to help them navigate the world. So she will begin answering her dilemma of where to put a piece just by answering your question without your doing it for her. Jackson will not suffocate with a toy or pacifier in the Pack'n'Play with him. He has nothing in there with him to help him to self-soothe or keep him from grumbling when he awakens. Of course, he's going to grumble like that if he has no toy, no mirror, no mobile, no lovey, no teething ring, nothing to keep him occupied happily or to allow him to get himself back to sleep or off to sleep for the first time during that nap period. There is room for one of his pacifiers and one of his cube toys in there and they won't hurt him. He can roll now to get away from them. You can give him the pacifier and place the cube in one corner. You say they keep him occupied. It could be his teething disturbing his sleep. Teething has got to hurt. He is cuter than the Amazon haul anyway. Good that you got Riley a map of her own country. You can show her how far it is to drive to NC or to FL. Jackson can have some fun in the saucer thingy on his own with you all nearby. His back isn't quite ready yet, but he loves sitting, rolling that ball with Riley. He will be doing it on his own soon enough. If his first words are "can I crawl there?," you will know that he got someone long distance on your phone and is trying to figure out how to get to them because they invited him over. LOL. He may have trouble with avocado just plain because it is so hard, due to being slippery, for them to hold onto at this stage of BLW. So they get frustrated and give up. He may love it on toast because the toast is easier to grasp for now. He'll get better at it later. He'll get good at getting bananas into his mouth and belly without squishing them all over the kitchen, too. He may not like the taste or texture of the skin, but he should figure out that it's the pulp inside that is sweet and goes into his mouth pretty easily. Either that or you'll have to give up on the skin. It's always a good idea with fruits and veggies, but so many times the skins are a bit tart or sour and so they don't find the innards fast enough before they give up. You can put some of the avocado on a spoon and feed it to him when he's done playing with it, so you don't feel like you are wasting it. He will see you scraping it off the skin and maybe get the idea of that. He will learn a lot from playing with it and smelling it and he got some of the pulp in his mouth and seemed to enjoy it. Avocado is actually good for him. So a start. No sale to Riley, though.
