Energy weapons being more effective at damaging armor has been a design brief for a long time. The idea was shields protect against energy weapons and armor against ballistic.
AL is forever young!
Solo player. Really excited for resource networks and engineering. I don't fly large ships (though I have one or two) and have deliberately reshuffled my fleet around the Zeus and smaller. And yes, I'm excited for what may await my Terrapin.
The days of run and gun are gone. If you're not prepared for whatever the verse throws at you, you won't make it! Love it!!
This is one of the most exciting episodes I've seen. It is really bringing a lot of what CIG has said together. What is shown seems to demonstrate how having friends will be vital to play this game effectively - when it comes to large ships. I predict that the medium class ships will be the most popular in-game. At least I can walk out of my outpost's home and stare at my BMM even if I prob won't be flying it....
I'm so excited for all of this. I'm a solo player with big and small ships and the fact that I can make each ship feel like my ship is super exciting. Its gonna be so cool actually tinkering with components and repairing components/armor out in the verse. The immersion is going to be such a game changer for me
Yes! Thank you! I've been saying they need to spread out the components on the MSR since day one!
I knew this was their ultimate goal for multi crew and having all the major components in one spot makes it super easy for a decent pilot to completely disable the MSR. They have a mirrored compartment on the starboard side of the cargo bay and they have all that stupid crawl space. (I love the crawl space, it's just stupid they don't use it)
Live support will provide oxygen
They were talking about filter replacement
I'd love for them to add maintenance hatches and subcomponents to the main engines. Right now you don't actually do anything to the engines themselves. I'd love to Eva to one of the nacelles on my Connie to swap out relays and other parts to get the engine working again. The repair beam should be for structural things only.
Interestingly when we researched the crucible for the ship scrutiny we found that at that stage of development the crucible engines did have access points. Will those access points survive the design process, is yet to be seen.
When it comes to weapon types (energy, ballistic, explosive) and defensives (shield, armor, hull) it wouldn't be a shame to look into the Stellaris system. It's rock, paper, scissors model is easy to understand and makes sense.
Jared shaved so his face could be added into the game. He mentioned it in last ISC I think
10:53 Algared sparks on fire 🔥 and stays that way for almost 5 min without any help, then just puts it out by using only his stare and his pure will 15:48 . Super chad as always ❤. o7
15:59 Now we now how he doesn't care about the misfires on his ship. Holy F. So based.
I'm fine with this as a placeholder for repair, but the beams need to go. It would also be nice for a skill and experience based repair system so you have to assess the problem and base your fix (not just swapping out the component) on that assessment.
This alone will make top ace pilots powerful in battle. Avoiding enemy fire at a high level means your ships will win many fights.
So, critical power plant failure = warp core breach
Exactly my thoughts. We need a power plant eject function tbh, at least in the smallest single-seat ships, so if it goes critical we can eject it and survive the impending boom
@@thenecroleptsomething I was thinking. Also dumping a power core which you use as a mine…. Kaboom
clearly @@algared6131 has seen star trek lower decks.
@@thenecrolept unable to elect power plant, secondary command processors are offline.
Having this ISC would have been valuable before the news of planned changes to ships such as the Redeemer broke...
CIG should move some components in the MSR into the vents so they (the vents) have more reason to exist and they (the components) will be more spread out.
Edit: I wrote this just before you said it Exe 😂.
Something we've said for ages now.
One thing I'm a bit worried about is being hit by a bullet of a ship which passed through your ship. Imagine fighting an intense battle and it's suddenly over because you got obliterated through your hull.
Maybe they should either change it so that energy weapons go through shields and damage them as well as armor and bullets get stopped by shields, but can still pass through armor, or the other way around, so that the shields have to be down first before there is any chance of getting insta killed by one bullet
And they didn't even talk about tuning individual components 😮
people say this is too complicated, but honestly, im disapointed at the lack of depth.
I was hoping for more minute control of things, the ability to choose between different types of cooling liquids, the ability to choose different types of armour coatings, and automation presets.
What I want to know is are we going to lose our atmospheric shields? It looks like at least with some hatches we might. I can’t see CIG getting rid of them completely because we all know they have to be used in the Idris’s hanger bay. But I can see some hatches and doors like the Taurus’s cargo elevator not having it. Maybe we will be able to turn off the atmospheric shields so as to vent the air of the ship.
Sounds like ballistics will be primarily for smaller ships they can penetrate or weakening armor if the ballistic is big enough. Energy takes down the shields and probably slowly heats up the armor degrading it where small bullets would just bounce off.
What I'm gathering anyhow.
Small balistics would probably be able to damage weak points on ships, cockpits, engines ect.
Big balistics would rip off small parts just by the mass of the round.
But we will see.
Engineering makes the Reliant fighters more valuable with 2 people.
Ballistics are Penetrating the armor. The Energy weapons are actually Melting it away. Thats my understanding is what is being said.
I'd still rather have a size 3 shield generator, because if they are on their way to take it out you're already dead and need to start running, you have to kill shields and guns and pray to that armor and engine gods you'll make it out alive.
For ships like the redeemer, unless they tear out the 4 seat area and make it a cargo bay for components you'll only ever have room for sub components on the ship since your resource caped.
Energy weapons melt the armor, and ballistics pierce the weakened armor?
I wonder how hard it would be to get an error log for the engineer terminal. Something that lists misfires and component failures chronologically so the player can look back and see if they missed something.
That’s in the video. They do that. Top right corner.
With this, every ship will have a "Maintenance Ratio". Real live Airbus A320 has up to 1:20. 1 hour flight time 20 hours maintenance. Let's see how this will impact the game.
So multiple ship owners may have some sort of advantage if they can take out a maintained ship while the one they were flying is going through the maintenance cycle. That could be nice or frustrating.
Got fuel tanks in the carrack. Reinforced fuel tanks for wxploration
Scared or excited? Excited.
I wonder if CIG will offer an engineer pack "WD40, duct tape and a hammer?
That's the Drake package only.
Eighty bucks, or sixty nine warbond
I think the power triangle/square or whatever shape it has to be since it can do +- redistribution in under a second rather than tap tap tap on the bars.
They had to move away from that since power is now distributed to more items than three. Weapons, Shields, Engines, Radar, Life Support, and gravity generators. Scanning arrays and computers eventually.
I personally don't care as long as modules don't burst into fire every single run.
I don't do combat and I got rid of all ships larger than an MSR.
Everyone who does combat or flies large ships solo will be kinda f*cked. XD
Can't wait to read spectrum when it releases and everyone complaints. lol
AI Crew will be the game changer
I think people that have been soloing larger ships will stay busy. I want the feeling that if I see a large ship I'm 99% sure there are multiple personnel on board than what we have now lol. What do you guys think of that aspect?
Solo in a larger ship with something worthwhile to do during QT will be a good thing, IMO.
@@First_Chapter QT yes, combat is a different story 😂
I believe with the new radar systems you can check how many people are on board so if you see a Polaris with 1 person you know what to do!
This game is amazing and getting more complicated all the time - just wonder how possible it will be to pull together a team for the time sink this game may be
most of the ships doesn't have doorways to get components inside like carrrack!
Size 3’s won’t be able to be replaced on board I don’t think so I don’t know how useful that is
More time sink. Who could have guessed?
NPC engineering crew especially when we get Capital ships
Question: They showed an engineering frame of the connie, I could only make out 2 relay points in total, fore and aft. Could the unannounced ships be gold standards?
Freelancer asn Connie?
i am excited to
Look to hear a show predicted what is beyone 4.0 for citizencon, and have a bingo card ready to see how many you get right.
Lol funny af they think space ships need "oxygen tanks" 😭😂 thats not even how our space ships or planes work
Do u think we will be able to buy extra armor plates or shield upgrades at all or is that too far fetched? o7!🤙🏽
Unlikely with armour plates as cig has a complicated job enough as they’re going to have to do weight calculations for every ships flight characteristics with weight coming in, let alone do we rly think the art teams gna do work on all ships at varying levels of additional armour added? I doubt it.
ah so you say not only will i die every 2h from thirst now every 5 minutes some compenent in my ship will missfire and catch fire explode my ship? oh how fun. f
5 minutes more like 5 hrs lmao
GET OVER IT OR DRAW 25!

Perseus is going to be a B to take out!
I know bro, my Ironclad too got it's buff. 🎉 Armor for the win 🎉.
@@Thearmiktzbut ironclad is Drake. They are known for less armour
I think you’ll indeed run into solos in a big ship less often. There will still be some but I’ll just view them as an idiot or someone in a desperate situation like the crew died
@@jde-jj1lu Congrats on the Ironclad, fantastic ship! I have a CCU to convert my C2 to one, but need the funding to finish the chain.
Much more time sink. Solo players can go to hell I guess.
Exec is always so trigger happy with the pause button, so many times the answer to all hes in-moment speculation is just a few seconds away
Several pauses were also because I wanted a pause. We take the pause as break in the conversation where we interject and then see what is said.
I meant it as a general observation since i usually watch the official videos first and then the Inforunners take on them after, so i know when theres speculation when the answer is just behind the resume button
They often present things like a headline and then an explanation that follows it often with a bit of footage nowdays inbetween, and a lot of the time the videos are paused before the explanation comes to speculate about what they meant by the headline and what it implies.
I just though the videos might become more focused on what's presented in the videos and a bit less speculative if you were made aware of the pattern, otherwise pauses to point out details & easy-to-miss things are interesting
@@Shaderox if we were watching the videos before hand that would likely be true. However, as I said the pauses are initiated by both of us. Sometimes to comment of something we notice or how it ties in with something we’ve seen heard in the past. Like I said it’s more a conversation with us interacting with the video rather than a reaction video. Thanks for the thoughts and feedback.
Yeah no thanks turning into to much of a time sink. Fix the retaliator, it's a paperweight now, we dont need the cash grab
same thing starfield uses
