in my opinion Green Wing is arguably the best comedy series ever made. Everyone in it plays their part wonderfully.

Hey Taffe, Green Wing just gets better and better. It IS very unique. Oh, and as a Hospital worker, I can tell you that at times, the silly stuff the staff were getting up to here is not a million miles away from reality. ;)

There are many scenes in this show in which you can see characters laughing in the background because they literally couldn't hold it together. The producers decided just to leave it in and not reshoot the scene which was a masterstroke in my opinion.

It gets better and better as well once you get to know the characters. There is a continual story, although pretty loose -- enough to warrant watching in order though.

As an American who discovered this show a few months ago through my extreme love of Michelle Gomez, I am so excited this video exists! Green Wing is the funniest show of all time. I love it so much. A couple outdated jokes are a bit offensive, but other then that it's the perfect show! I cried laughing the whole time I binged it. None of my friends found it funny though so I was dying alone

    • @nixonagnewreviews7206

As a greek It's not offensive at all. It's a comedy. It's a British comedy. Either you like it or you don't. You obviously don't. I do and I've watched lots of them. I've never laughed so much in any American show or movie.

    • @LusciousTwinkle

Don’t know if anyone has ever mentioned a bbc comedy called Bluestone 42? It is really funny, and at times quite dramatic. It’s set in Afghanistan when troops were stationed over there fighting the taliban. It follows a bomb disposal unit called Blustone 42. It was held in high regard by ACTUAL troops that were stationed out in Afghanistan, some of the stuff that happens in the show, actually happened for real, especially games and stuff they do in their down time, as well as being pretty accurate in the technical stuff. Give it look, I think you will like it! Love your reactions by the way!

I loved just about everyone in this show! Heap/Statham is a legend, Michelle Gomez was mad as a box of frogs, Coleman suffered well, Pippa Haywood was great and I loved Tamsin Grieg as Caroline Todd. When Olivia Coleman mentioned her husband '-during Frost' she was referring to 'A Touch of Frost'-a police thing starring David Jason. To spoof this, Charlie Brooker wrote, 'A Touch of Cloth' with John Hannah as Jack Cloth as opposed to Jason's Jack Frost. The title is also a play on 'Touching Cloth', a desperation-for-the-toilet euphemism.

I remember watching green wing when it first came out and thinking it was totally weird. But remember loving the Music and how well it went with the situations. It reminds me of trigger happy tv. That had moments of nonsense but accompanied by music that went so well.
Green wing paved the way for 90's abstract comedy.

There's another real gem called The Smoking Room from BBC2.
From a narrow period in time when smokers were segregated from non-smokers, but not yet forced outside.
It was a bit of a cult show, that most people missed completely.
It starred Robert Webb from Peep Show.

Here's a copy-paste from my comment you hearted back in May of last year..
Dude, I'd love to see you react to to cult British comedy show "Jam".
Blue Jam was a radio show later adapted to TV as Jam.
It was written and directed by Chris Morris, responsible for the classic Brass Eye and the movie 4 Lions (If you get into movie reactions, this could be interesting too).
    Fun factoids:
Jam was the first entertainment show to run on Channel 4 without an ad break, as Morris didn't want the feel of the show tainted.
Many of the scenes are the original radio actors miming to the radio sketches.
There was also a turned-up-to-11 remix version of the show called Jaaaaam which aired late at night and required large amounts of drugs to truly appreciate.
Only 6 episodes were ever made
Go into it with nothing more than the info I've provided, don't read the description and see what you think of a truly divisive piece of British comedy history.
    Here's episode 1: watch?v=Qpn7C6r-WEM

Hi Noah, I loved that thanks but hadn't seen it before. I was a staff nurse for 37 years and at the start of my career we did have fun playing practical jokes, silly things like syringe water fights but as time went on we were less well staffed. The job got so pressurised, the paper work became bloody ridiculous and any sense of fun was gone which was a shame because we were happy at work which the patients sensed. Was so glad to retire early! Loved seeing the funny side of hospital life in this although it's way over the top, hope you do more x

One of those comedies which you're disappointed to end. Sue White (Michelle Gomez [Missy from Dr Who]) has dedicated clip videos made for her. Also that was John Oliver selling cars. Did you notice Oscar winner Olivia Coleman too? The one with the Eye Patch was in "Not going out" and the one in charge was Mrs Brittas in "The Brittas Empire".

@@ChloeClements34 And wasn't she in something about a demon headmaster? It was a bit after my time. But Americans do love learning which actors are British that they assumed were American, so I thought I'd throw that in, because she plays an American in the new sabrina I think.

Great to see this being reviewed, havent watched it for such a long time. It was really great to watch you enjoying it. You must review more as it gets even better with every episode.
Stephen Mangan and Tamsin Greig were in a show called Episodes with Matt Le Blanc which was very good.
Karl Theobald and Olivia Coleman did 2012 about the build up to the London Olympics with Hugh Bonneville and Jessica Hynes which is also worth a watch.

It's actually a realistic portrayal of life for the staff in a 1990's U.K. hospital. I doubt if it would've changed much since then.
