This was the episode where HIGNFY stopped being HIGNFY and became The Brian Blessed Show and it’s still one of the greatest episodes of any panel show ever
In 2011, the Univerity of York student union held a vote to rename the 'New Building Study Space' as the 'Brian Blessed Centre for Quiet Study'.
Have I Got News For You is one of the greatest shows from the UK, been watching for years. Ian Hislop is a genius, and Paul Merton is a comedy great. Miss the Angus scandal, but the changing of hosts gives it a new dynamic. Brian Blessed episodes are regarded as by far the most hilarious episodes!
God bless Brian Blessed. The man is a national treasure.

This was my favourite episode of all time, and I'm pleased the whole show is now available again. Brian is a national institution, or indeed should be in one lol.
I remember him as one of the regular police constables in Z Cars - a long-running series in the 1960s
I love the story about Brian punching a polar bear.
My earliest memories of Brian Blessed is from listening to cassette tapes of Tolkien's Tales from the Perilous Realm, where he voiced Farmer Giles of Ham. So many long roadtrips as a kid listening to his voice.
How can anyone not like Brian Blessed?
Believe it or not brian blessed was the original actor suggested to replace William Hartnell on doctor who and become the second doctor, while he didn't become the doctor he did eventually appear on the show in the 80's in the 14 episode series long adventure the trial of a timelord.
Good thing too, he would have shouted the daleks all the way back to Skaro!
He was also supposed to be on Doctor Who as part of a Christmas crossover episode in 1965 as his Z Cars character Fancy Smith, in the end they just used generic policemen
Livia had him under her thumb.
The World will be a lot quieter and less fun when enevitably Brian Blessed shuffles off his mortal coil..

Toms episode is the only one which can hold a candle to the Brain Blessed episode IMO.

This is probably the funniest ever episode, Brian Blessed is Hysterical
I forgot Marcus Brigstock copped for both Brucie and Blessed. Absolutely brilliant! Aside from all his other pursuits, Brian has dedicated his private life to rescue work. He shares his home with hundreds of stray and abused animals from chickens to horses. Saw him live before Covid. The weather was horrendous and the start of the show had to be delayed due to severe flooding on the roads. Brian was obviously much later than everyone else, due to the distance he had to travel. He literally stepped out of the car and straight onto the stage, with rainwater dripping off him! He’d have been about 82 at the time and he never missed a beat. I’d also recommend the Jack Dee episode of HIGNFY. All I’m saying is Pot Noodles ;)
He lives just down the road from me, I used to regularly see him and his wife Hildegarde while out walking. Incidently he sells eggs from the house :)
He was also on the Trevor McDonald episode too!
Oh god! This episode of HIGNFY had me in stitches from beginning to end! And the fact that Paul Merton completely lost it throughout the show made it even funnier! Love your reactions too lad! You should do the one with Trevor McDonald next!

Another thing you ought to know about Brian Blessed, Noah, is that he's been voicing Grampy Rabbit in Peppa Pig since he was first introduced, who is just as enjoyable with his shouting as he his!
Brian has over a thousand Pets at his home. He is a real animal lover.

Brian's amazing, just light the blue touch paper and stand well back. I remember an episode of the sixties spy show 'The Avengers' in which he played a villain. 'The Morning After' it was called.
Another unusual episode you might like to react to is from way back: episode 1 of series 11 -- the series that Paul took off to concentrate on another project. Eddie Izzard stood in on this episode, alongside Janet Street Porter and was unusual for another reason that I won't spoil. If that is you can find a copy as all I can see on TH-cam is a short clip.
Brian Blessed I think did at least one other episode, and Tom Baker, AKA Doctor Who no.4 also did one, he is also very larger than life and immensely entertaining

Plus (according to the Wiki) Brian Blessed has hosted twice, and Boris Johnson hosted four times, so you could always return to them in the future...

Marcus Brigstocke starred in a CBBC comedy series called Stupid, which I watched frequently as a kid. I'd recommend you react to the series if you get the chance; you can find all the episodes on TH-cam.
It would be great if you did an Angus episode. I know you said you might be doing the 1st episode but just suggesting something from series 3 onwards so you get a feel for what the show was like for a long time and what made it successful.

Love Brian Blessed, GORDONS ALIVE?! is a classic quote from the 80’s Flash Gordon film Noah if you’ve not seen it you should for the 2nd channel! How about Jeremy Clarkson for another episode? Particularly like the one that aired not long after he got sacked from Top Gear!
Clarkson was good in the 1980s but he's just a moaning old prick these days.
