It is totally possible just due to the age of these hoses I would be concerned/careful as it may pinch the line too hard and cause a leak/weak point. With newer hoses or if they look in better shape you could certainly use non abrasive pliers and clamp it off. Clamped or unclamped there will be fuel in the filter!
Alot more work on the front end but you can still do it! there’s about three to four inches of travel on the drop brackets for the gas tank and you should be able to drop it about 2-3 inches. Slide a plywood board between the floorboard and tank, Pull the carpet in your rear and cut an access panel with a Grindr. Buy a piece of metal from your local supplies store and some door jam sealer, use whatever fasteners you want. Put everything back how it was! maintenance will be WAY easier for any and all future work you have to do.
I'm having an issue with the new filter still leaking or should I say pouring out gas I even replaces the rubber hose with a hose I had... maybe the hose I had is a little bigger than the old one but it shouldn't matter if the clamp is tight should it... it's only where the rubber hose meets the filter is where it's leaking
Yeah I know it feels like it shouldn’t matter but the interior diameter of the hose needs to be exact or very close. If it’s too big when you clamp it down it will create a wavey surface and allow leaks. I would check the interior diameter to the old hose, if you still have it, to the new and decide if getting closer hose is the issue. If it’s not that the issue check the new filter for cracks around the nipple if you got a plastic one I can’t imagine a metal filter would have cracked brand new. Good luck!!
I got the fenders off of Amazon back in 2017 and Have tried looking to see what knock off they are and sadly havent. I believe the best similar style is by NapierFlatFenders nowadays
It’s a real cheap spectre yeah it’s 3 inch and the CCV hose is a 3/4 inch interior diameter I believe. I just threw that all away cause I’m building a cold air intake rn (video should be out next Monday)!
You’re welcome and thank you!! I actually really enjoy making them. My dad actually taught me that, it’s just a quarter inch thick aluminum stock bar, I think I bought 48 inches and cut a few inches off and bent the edges to shape. I’ve since redone my headliner and gotten rid of them but they worked great years!!
Is it possible to pinch the hose on both sides to stop the fuel? 2 pairs of vise grips maybe?

My 98 xj 4.0 is in the tank. Have to drop it to get to it..

Any luck with DIY on this? Looking at the same thing and hard to know if the whole assembly has to be changed out
@@SomeGuyOutside Why do all that cutting? Why not just drop the entire tank? My 2000 xj 4.o is inside and I'm about to do it.....
This is the fuel filter, not the fuel pump.
My Jeep is spitting under load and skipping at idle
Im gonna replace plugs wires fuel filter and run some sea foam thru and hope it fixes it up
Certainly a good place to start! I'd place my bet on the fuel pump if that does not clear up the issue.

@@SomeGuyOutside I got it... the new filter had a small Crack on the neck where the rubber hose goes
@@shaunmoeller3288 glad to hear it!
What size is that small rubber fuel hose?
It’s half inch outer diameter with 1/8th inch wall!
Where did you get the custom fenders?

Your air intake is it 3 inch what about the breather for the head cover

@@SomeGuyOutside ok cool thanks man !
What kind of seats have you installed on ur xj?
Im not totally sure, I believe it is a base model/se but I dont actually know.
Thank you for making these videos. A quick question, where did you get the aluminum bars to support the headliner?

@@SomeGuyOutside Awesome. Thank you!
Mine did not come with end caps. 🤢
Shraeder valve
Not to be confused with shredder valves, which are half pipes that tony hawk and his friends use
@@SomeGuyOutside lol
Sorry. You lost me at gasoline in your eyes is not fun.
It would be a good way to wake yourself up in the morning but I cant say its fun at all
