In this video I show how to make a 80's synthwave track! After a deep research in the 80's culture, I think i've found a way of remake the classical sound that we all love... and combining it with a new remix!
Enjoy!

Synthwave is actually how 80s people imagine the music of the future. But it's actually how we imagine the people of the 80s imagined the music of the future.
6:41
Actually modern pop music is like as they imagined.
And the average preadolescent pimple can only guess how the 80's must have been like.
But because we hear this retro future music today, and because today is the future of the past, they were right: it is the music of the future.
Flufflet epic comment!

There's something special about the 80s. And I love it!!🔥🔥
Synthwave❤️❤️🔥
Not here
80's is when music was at its peak
This is amazing!
Is it on itunes tho?

@@platypusmusic8843 Oh Wow!
What bullshit lmao
any credits to the vocals?
"random" lootbox
It's just me or any else, by listening to vories chords takes me to nostalgia.
Exactly!
Harmonic scales bro.
listen to a desert star song bro you’d like him
@@rohanthakuri4549 ?
It started off as synthwave, but then it turned into synth pop. Good track non the less
What’s the difference? They both use the same synths...right?
No he just had to share his fat as knowledge you know
Synthwave is generally quite slower with little vocals. With a large emphasis on bass and drums and often not a noticeable melody
@@mija494 Checkout Electronic Gems channel.. and u will hear the difference
@@mija494 xD
Wow it’s crazy how those vocals just fit like that! What a coincidence
This is absolutely amazing. Normal problem with normal synthwave is it’s missing the whole verse /chorus / verse / bridge /chorus structure. This adds life and has hooks. Nice job
Pro:
That bassline was catchy!
The final product.
Cons:
That darn cowbell 😂
nah, I like the cowbells
Ok zoomer
Needs more cowbell
Needs less cowbell
Remove cowbell!!!
Really dope record man. Well done!
Didn’t think I’d see you here

Dope? Actually, pretty smart.
It's insane I came across this video when I BARLEY knew anything about music. I legit struggled to understand, not your fault I just had little knowledge of music at the time. A year later, I understand literally everything, even your chords.
isnt 40s x 2s = 80s²?
Mathematically, you just demonstrated that 80s never die.
alge*bruh*
Well considering its exactly 40 years after the 80s began, the equation checks out.
Yup and 80s = 40 x 2s = 40s x 2 :)
I'm not the only one who notice it
very good but the vocal ruined the 80's tone, singers didnt sounded like this back then..... anyway i like it
Yea that and the cowbell bascaillu ruined the whole thing
If you were actually listening and watching to what he was saying.. he said we was putting a modern twist on it. Which he did
definately agree
@@queenpurple8433 the cowbell is an iconic 80s sound go listen to i wanna dance with somebody by whitney houston and you will hear that cowbell its in many other songs (its from the roland tr 808 machine) and i think its fits in perfecly. but its your opinion
@@queenpurple8433 cowbell was used a lot
6:55 sounds like Windows opening
and 7:55 sounds like the drums from take on me hahahahaha
I LOVE IT
Lol yeah you're right 😂
6:55 for me it sounds similar to Big in Japan
It doesn’t sound enough like take on me to specify take on me. It’s basically just 80s drum machine sounds at an 80s pop tempo
To me 6:55 sounds like the opening from Everybody Wants To Rule The World.
I love how you add these informative things about Saturation and all! They're amazing! You're a legend Vories and I owe you a lot in teaching me how to music.
There should be a thing like Synthology
change my mind
It's ur mind u change it
sound design. it is called sound design
Yes it's called synthesis
No. I agree.
No Synthology needs to be merch! ... I'd also buy a Sausage Fatener T-Shirt... do they have that ? Nope. There you go @EmberDrops if you make a million on it help me out a little (please).
I love how you kept the elements from the 80s but thrown your own style into it. You forgot the classic 80s gated reverb on the drums tho ;)
Too fast to use effectively.
This does not sound like 80's Synthwave, but more modern synth pop. Liked the video though. Good job
Sounds nothing like the 80's.
Having some 80's sounding synths doesn't make it 80's music.
@@darrenhirst9900 try to tell that to the morons who'll never accept that as fact because they're too busy thinking they know what 1980s pop actually sounds like
@@commentspae True. Usually millennial gits.
Well first off, I pretty sure Synthwave isn't from the 80s so it is "Modern Synth Pop" do an extent. And it's not trying to copy the pop music of the 80s, but to capture a feeling of that decade through the lens of movies and shows. Throwing synths in is one of the best and easiest ways of doing it as Synths became popular during the 80s and therefore gives the feeling of the old Roland's and Moog's. This track kinda loses the feeling with the vocals and the effects.
He also said in the video that its ''with a modern touch''
After hearing that atmosphere I immediately got a copy of the sample pack :D
Awesome Video!🔥❤️
Especially those samples😉
Always love your videos! And now you're doing Synthwave? 🤩🤩
I like how you included the heavenly type of arps and synths used in the 80s. Sometimes I'm amazed at 80s tracks because they move in and out of intense ambience that would bring even a tear to Brian Eno's eye.
bro the editing are so effortful... i pay respect by pressing F to you bro YOU JUST GOT ANOTHER SUBSCRIBER love it from philipp.
It's like synthwave and indie dance merged in one song. Love it!
this is the greatest fl workflow video that i have seen on youtube... especially for those of us that want to begin making “synth pop”. this was absolute 🔥 and deserves an instant sub. enjoyed every second. ty ty ty!!!
I wonder who is this....."friend"?
Dang it,we need the FULL REMIX!
Agreed. This needs to be in my ears constantly
ASAP..
Who else is in the comments specificly to find this track

You ain't wrong about that
For real you are the most talented musicproducer I learn so much from you, you are a big inspiration!
I LOVE THE OVERWATCH LOOT BOX SOUNDS FOR THE LOOT BOXES OPENING YESSSS
That 80's sound. One of my favourite. I always enjoy producing the 80's sound
Wauw haha, these feelings! Love this synth
Great tune. Congrats you made every euro electro dance pop song ever.
so sick man! definitely captured the 80's feel
This bops and I really liked some of your instrumentation techniques
0:08 win+R, cmd, color a, tree
Thanks lmao, I actually doubted "color a" & "tree" to be commands.
@@MilezAwxy color a is a real command, but I don't know about the tree....

FM-84 - Running In The Night
Your editing just keeps getting better and better
NEED TO BUY THIS TRACK!
I hope you release this. Such a bop
I really like this, man - except for the cowbells (which I have never heard sounding good in any song). Don't know what it is but the sound of a cowbell is the musical equivalent of the word "cheapo". Anyways, it's still a great track. And I love the chords, very nostalgic.
That is the purpose of putting in the cowbells, to get that nostalgic 80s feel and that "cheap" feeling
Personally I loved the cowbells in Madonna's "Express Yourself" on the intro when she says the part "C'mon girls, do you believe in love ? 'cos I've got something to say about it and it goes something like this". :)

Blue Oyster Cult , someone ?
Gui V I’m surprised no one referenced SNL skit
Planet Rock by Afrika Bambaataa and The Soulsonic Force??
this is awesome but the transitioning chords for the big text effects threw me off a bit lmao. dope remix, and dope tutorial! love your stuff man :)
Weekend “Blinding Lights” inspiration, I guess. 😊
haha ! I was thinking the same =D
Well, "Blinding Lights" takes its inspiration definitely from Synthwave.
Blinding Lights is a synth wave (which exists from the 80's, so if anyone got inspired it was The Weeknd), while this was an attempt of synth-pop
@@KulibobCZ Both Blinding Lights and this song on the video are not remotely close to synthpop or synthwave, both would be considered popwave which derived from synthwave but uses modern sounds from 2010s pop. There is a lot of misunderstanding when it comes to many synth genres, synth pop sounds extremely different and is nowhere near close to sounding like this. Same with Synthwave, I'd highly reccomend you listen to Mitch Murders song Prime Operator, that's what pure synthwave sounds like from when it was just starting out.
@@mirai9669 What would you consider a synthpop song
This man right here is doing everything right, he will go far mark my words
Hi vories I love you
Woo! Love this!
Congrats with your sponsor btw 😂😂
10:03 "when he says it fits perfectly"

Mehar Upadhyay for some reason I considered that a rap god reference thus it’s interesting to read that in the comment section under a 80’s synth wave video ahahah
@@gonesoren When I was writing it I thought the same too!.haha🤣🤣
"just a feeling that I got"

Hey Vories. Make a video on. How you started making music. How taught u ? Who is your inspiration? Your upcoming plans? And message for beginners like me to build a career in music industry
When is this track going live, is the real question?????? This track is amazing!!!!

eventually, Vories will be the numer one producer in every genre
WOW!
So catchy!!
we need a full version plz.....
There too many coincidence ಠ_ಠ

Oh wait
ITS A MIRACLE!!!!
if you were wondering at 0:08 the way he did that was by going into the program cmd and using the tree command
cool track sounds nothing like the 80's...
Søren Markov it does have synthwave elements
@@mayamikotutu7514 It sounds like pop from ~2010-ish, but with cowbells and a synth in the background.
That’s the only problem I have with this video tbh. It took the idea of a synthwave track but made it way more modern and poppy. Thus not really making it a synthwave track.
Exactly.... I listen to alot of synthwave and they don't sound like this lol
Agreed.
wow synthwave is definitely the future music genre
I’m smelling a new track coming out.
I need this type of music to be revived, that would be AMAZING!!! Also, I love the fact that there are Alone Pt. II samples in this track that end up going along with it. This is just outstanding.
Full song starts at 10:10
So sick
This better be released!! Its sick!🔥🔥
oh they fit what a coincidence!!! editing is amazing and your knowledge on the programm too good job man
2:29 - the swing actually sounds great..
Woa This Guy Is Amazing !

So many coincidences😂🔥
the mixing on the main melody lead could be a bit better but damn i feel nostalgia
this doesn't sound 80's even remotely. And there's no such thing as "80's Synthwave", Synthwave is a 2000's genre inspired by 80's.
alexwestconsulting right. The genre is called “80s Synthwave”. Because Synthwave was created in the 21st century to emphasis synth-dominant music from the 70s-90s. 80s is the specificity of subgenre. Nice try though.
@@keelanesquivel3854 No, the genre is Synthwave. Nice try though.
Ok cool guy
Can we just appreciate the video editing ... damn you’re the goodest editor ever
*Where is full version???!!!*
you really should upload more on spotify!
i could listen to this stuff all day long!
absolute amazing
Now make DARKSYNTH like Carpenter Brut, Perturbator, Magic Sword, Daniel Deluxe etc. Good luck.
As a child of the 80’s I love modern music with an emotional 80’s flare. I feel like this song would be played endlessly on Chicane’s Sunsets podcast.... and I’d be Shazamming the sh!t out of it until it’s mine! I’d buy this track and play on repeat. Thankful my hubs just showed me this!
This sounds more like a wierd twist on future bass
Insane,really insane,Please finish it,nice remix bro,excited for this one
Hey. Just wanted to say that this is more likely considered as Outrun than Synthwave. Synthwave is chill with bpm ranging from 60-90. Outrun is like Eurobeat - fast paced and lively (120+ bpm) I made a lot of synthwave before. Here's my awarded by DJtechs track I made a while ago. th-cam.com/video/QtPD_vXzDPg/w-d-xo.html
Edit: I know that you did the track in 88 bpm but the drums and arps are making it feel twice as fast. I do not want to hate though. I love the final product.
Wait didnt he say that 120 was slow?
I've been watching these kind of tutorials for weeks but this is the most entertaining, inspiring and funny I've ever seen so far! Very good job man!!!!
"The Weekend" liked this video.
Vories you are among my favourite producers / artists as of now it is just amazing how much fire content you create! Never stop dude!
40s x 2s should be 80s².
(me, the commenter with sponge bob voice)
It is if you close your eyes and think really hard about it.
Nothing is impossible.
I cried watching this video! I learned a lot! AMAZING!
@1:50 I thought he was playing the icarly theme song 😂😂
I'm dead you r so right
😅😅
it's amazing that simply by explaining what you're doing im actually learning something through the medium of videoform shitposts.
60000: Your BPM = The perfect reverb/delay.
Thank me l8er guys
Works for compressor release times too if you divide the final result by 4. What a coincidence!
Can you give an example with a result number ? This is in ms ?
@@stnkr_5508 Yes ms, so e.g. 60 000 / 120 divided by 4 (or just divide by 120*4) gives you a quarter-note release time of 125 ms, which tends to work well. Other time divisions might work better in some situations, but you usually want something related to the tempo to make the comp pump in time with the beat :)
8:51 i love how the cutoff and resonance are smooth
Hmm, drops in the 80's?
Vories is a legend
Like " dans l'espace " by gambi and heuss l'enfoiré
i love how clean that arrangement looks
Great work on FL Studio but this doesn't sound remotely 80's having lived though the entire decade.
Such a simple drum beat that i've heard in so many songs, but it just sounds so nice. Awesome
1:18 Actually that chords are fake, they doesn't sound like that
lol wut? no they aren't, i put them into fl studio piano roll with the rhodes and it sounded exactly the same
And also the, iconic 80s tom fills.
Fun synthwave tune, but letsbehonest in no way 80's
Your videos are just creative as f*** and just a joy to watch honestly
How I accidentally remixed Alan Walker Alone part 2😂👍🏻🔥❤️
