  • Mr. Kennedy was once tipped to be a future WWE main event heel. Kennedy came so close to winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and being revealed as the long lost son of Vince McMahon, but then it all slipped away. Mr. Kennedy was prone to injury, got involved in a scandal, and allegedly injured two of WWE's top superstars, including a botch during a match with Randy Orton, leading to his eventual release.

Idk about Raw, cuz l didnt have cable at the time, but SD in 2005 was godawful. I had pretty much stopped watching wwe at that point, till l was flipping through the channels, landed on the CW and heard " MRRRRRRRRRR KENNEDY......KENNEDY..." lol l had no clue who dude was, but l was hooked. I watched every week just to see him. When he went to Raw, l stopped watching wwe again until the pipebomb in 2011.

I really liked Kennedy's work: moving him to Raw, having him lose the briefcase to Edge, injuries, politics & him speaking well of Benoit all hurt. Kennedy got in trouble too for getting tips from Austin & incorporating it hurt him too. Why would WWE/Vince be against Austin, one of the biggest names ever, giving advice. The Smackdown roster guys really liked him too especially the big names

When Kennedy lost the briefcase to Edge, I thought they were going to turn Kennedy face.
They had the perfect case for a feud between them since Edge went to Smackdown and Kennedy was a SD talent.
Instead? The drafted Kennedy to RAW like a week or so later and doesn’t even try to get revenge on Edge.
Even worse? Edge gets injured a month later, which would have been the perfect time to give the WHC to Kennedy in the Battle Royale. Instead they gave it to The Great Khali!
People argued that they couldn’t because Kennedy was on RAW. A moot argument because Khali was on RAW when he went into that BR! Edge was also on RAW when he stole Kennedy’s case.
That was the real beginning of the end for Mr. Kennedy.

Cena & Orton made sure Kennedy never threated their top spots

    • @BlossomField91
      @BlossomField91 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

Nah, there is only a limited extent to where politics from top guys (or nepotism) can work and business becomes the only priority.
If Kennedy was drawing, Vince would've told Orton and Cena to fuck right off. There were people who didn't like The Rock and tried to bury his career as it was rising (HBK and of course HHH lol), but there was simply no stopping his star from rising.
Vince (for all his faults) has never fallen into the same trap that helped destroy/ruin promotions like WCW and TNA (during their brief boom), and we have witnessed in AEW, which is letting egocentric top guys rule the roost. Hulk Hogan ran riot in WCW/TNA but knew his place in WWE when he returned. Sure, he got the big money and some creative control, but not "let me do whatever the fuck I want."
Cena was told no multiple times when he wanted to do heel runs, and that was as #1 guy.
Kennedy was simply a bust, unfortunately. The fact he was fired (not punished by being demoted down the card, suspended, etc, but losing his job completely) and has never been given another chance in the company shows they just had enough of him.

@@BlossomField91 The funny thing is HBK wasn't a draw at the time either, so for him to have that kind of power at the time was ridiculous. The guy who didn't draw any money was making the decisions, including trying to destroy the career of someone who did eventually draw more money and ratings than he ever did. As a matter of fact the whole Kliq, despite them being considered some of the greatest superstars in wrestling really never drew a dime and yet they had the most power. It's insane.

I still think about him sometimes and I really get angry at how dirty they did him. He was such an authentic heel.
He wasn't reckless in the ring. E.g. Goldberg is, he is ending legendary careers in a split of a second and still randomly returns and squash world champions.
The reasons why he was released were just made up. Someone clearly wanted him out. You can't tell me that someone get released for ordering steriods. Triple H, Batista and Cena were undeniably taking some crazy shit back then. Mr.Kennedys "misdiagnosis" seems also extremly sus to me. Even WWE doctors can not be thaaat incompetent.
My guts say that Cena was the driving force behind the backstage politics. And here his mask slipped, that he is deep down just another disgusting jealous Hogan. This is the incident, from which I understood that Cena is an NPC - complete fabricated character to push as much product as possible.
Mr. Kennedy was so good. He really didn't deserve this.

Right after Benoit did what he did and all the questions surrounding whether steroids may have contributed to it, there was gonna be a zero tolerance policy for the wwe to try and save face and whatever PR they could salvage. Orton was one of their biggest stars at the time and he got popped too so they weren’t cutting anybody any amount of slack. The injuries didn’t help but I feel like he may of been able to get by those bc he seemed to hold up ok in TNA so who knows what could of been. 🤷‍♂️
