    I'm thankful for the early adopters for going through the hassle of scrambling for a charger and waiting time to charge.
    I can see everyone switching to EV when there is an abundance of chargers everywhere.

    I’m still waiting for Tesla Compact car. And withholding myself from getting other BNB new ice car. Hopefully Tesla compact car will see similar pricing to ICE BNB.
    Really can’t bring myself to pay over 200k along with the ridiculous road tax and insurance for a model 3 as much as I really like to have one.

    Informative episode. I’m aghast at how unfriendly the SG government is towards EV adopters. Prohibitive import duties, COE and road taxes. Very sad indeed

      Thanks Allan! We understand why car prices are high in Singapore (intentional government policy). We only ask that EVs don't get taxed more than ICE, and that taxation reflects the nation's sustainability goals (Bike/Walking -> Public Transport -> EVs -> ICE).

      @@DarenYoong hi Daren, you’re a good Singaporean. To us outsiders (formerly residing in Singapore 5 years) there is an element of thinking you’ve all drank the cool aid as it is frankly NUTS to pay $118k for COE and then excise and import duties and road tax. But incomes are also high and you don’t really have any choice, do you… :)

    200kSGD for a car is really insane. I'm just glad I work/live in a large country where you don't have to sell a kidney to afford the COE...
    Yes I get why Singapore has to do it, but it's still a hit on the quality of life.

      Public transport and taxi is good enough. Does not need a car in Singapore, save up on carbon footprint by ditching the car and take taxi instead to support our local taxi driver livinghood.

    Where do Tesla owners pump their car tyres? In petrol kiosk where they are no longer customers? Perhaps, charging stations should also come with Tyre pump for a seamless experience.

    • @DarenYoong
      @DarenYoong  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Many Tesla owners I meet around the world still do it at petrol stations! They are usually also customers to the retail shops there to get snacks. In addition, more petrol stations are now building EV chargers (especially common in Thailand and UK).
      Agree that larger Supercharger Stations (8+ stalls) should come with tyre pumps. All the Supercharger Stations in Singapore are currently 3 stalls only, so hopefully we see larger ones in the future!

      Not so “paiseh” if we go to a petrol station that has EV charging stall, to pump the Tesla car tyres.
      We’re not customers for their petrol top up, but we can still show support (and courtesy for using their equipment) by swinging by their convenience store to buy something. Hope this helps!

    Okay the Singapore Govt. really needs to look at their tax structure! Why would a ICE car (Ferrari) be cheaper than an EV? If they want this transition to happen why not increase the costs of having an ICE and lower the COE for existing owners who are close to having to renew to have them go into an EV over and ICE. There are many sensible things that the govt. can support and do that will support transportation change over to EV's.

    I always baffled by this govt rebate. ( 45k in this case as per her mentioned) So after that rebate, she still paid 196k. Isn't that price the market rate for an EV car in that category range?? So what rebate? I bet if even the rebate is 80k, the car price after all deduction will still be around 196k.. 😅😅
