I saw this today (decided to give it a chance despite the title and knowing very little about it) and I loved it. I was thinking it was maybe my best movie-going experience this year after Challengers. I was wondering why y'all hadn't talked about it yet so I'm very happy to see this review. I will say, I was in the theater with one other woman and she walked out about 45 minutes into the movie and did not return and I think it was the only walkout I've seen this year and I've been to the cinema over 100 times (thanks AMC A-List).
Those are two very different movies! Glad you gave this a shot and loved it so much.
@@BreakfastAllDay I contain multitudes!
I’ll co-sign wholeheartedly on “Challengers”
Alonso and I apparently like LL Bean flannel shirts. We have more than a couple 2-3 in common.
Hey guys. Looking amazing. I can't wait to come to another event in the future. 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤Keep it up!😂
Thanks Steve!
This film sounds absolutely wonderful!🎄
It is, hope you’ll check it out!
You sold it to me when you mentioned Fanny and Alexander
Saw this on Saturday night here in San Diego (and am hoping to see it a second time tomorrow). I was the only one in the theater but I loved nearly every second of it. Some really funny moments and real moments of truth throughout. Not to mention it felt like the holiday get togethers I had with my extended family when I was growing up. And the soundtrack was refreshing, especially since it goes for great ‘60s tunes that I grew up with and doesn’t just stick to Christmas songs only. My only quibble is that the ending felt a little flat for me (The other reason I want to see it again as I want to see if I resonate it with the ending more than I initially did). Still, I hope more people check this out. Especially since it seems that all theaters that are playing it are only playing it through either tomorrow or Thursday.
So glad you caught it! It does tap into some deep memories from childhood.
Sounds interesting. Hopeful it will stream somewhere so I can see it.
Just got out of this in a basically empty theater which made me sad because I loved this. Just moved recently from Staten Island to Florida so the wave of nostalgia for a NY milennial Italian Christmas hit like a ton of bricks especially the small moments like the Piano or the lost present. I hope this finds an audience streaming
Aww man! Glad you saw it, though.
I like these types of movies; they don't try to be too much and rely on the writing and acting. I will watch when it streams.
Zero hook in the beginning, zero plot. Movie was super-contrived, mostly poor acting. The super-weird homosexual thing between the 2 cops, should’ve been edited out, so super-poor editing. This is movie with a lot of (probably unpaid), cast, to try and make up for the lack of, well everything that makes a movie even decent. The 2 cops, (they don’t appear anything like cops), wear strange, Ill-fitting uniforms with nypd emblems, but the movie states it takes place in Long Island, makes no sense. I could go on, but it’s really pointless, and lacks redemption. Might be a decent movie for tweens and teens, but definitely not adults. I give it a 3/10.
Heard a really scathing review of this from Mark Kermode the other day. Like really, super, ultra, hatefully negative. So this is interesting to hear.
Alonso, the Christmas movie master!
He knows ALL.
When I first saw the title, I thought it was a Hallmark movie.
That’s the thing, is that it sounds like your typical Hallmark movie, and it’s anything but. Thanks for watching!
I love "nothing happens" movies
Well then you are in for a treat!
In the thumbnail brain read Francesca Scorcese as Francesca Eastwood and wondered when she put on the extra weight.
Ha, she's too busy being the victim in Juror #2!
Wish you got to this sooner, cus it's already gone. It didn't even make it to Thursday.
We tried 🤷♀️
Spielberg, Scorsese. Come on.
Spielberg & Scorsese's offspring and they're both gorgeous (I had a look on IMDb because the movie sounds interesting)
@@cl759neither of them is even remotely gorgeous. They look like regular people.
How many people are gonna watch this thinking it's a silly Hallmark Christmas movie? Lol.
Exactly, it sounds like that kind of cozy, wholesome content.
@@BreakfastAllDay I might actually watch!
Nobody slides merch into frame like Christy. I want to do an art house film about a podcaster who talks about the arts, but actually she is desperate to push merch. 😂😂😂
The mug isn’t even merch! That’s a radio show that doesn’t exist anymore.
Nobody is better at product segues than Christy.
I agree.😂
Absolutely loved this movie. Really surreal and weird but never tipped too far over the edge where it became silly to me. so funny, great ensemble. glad I caught it at that shoebox in Burbank lol. What a delight!
So glad you saw it (even in that tiny theater).
Uh-oh. Nothing happens and confusing. Critics gold 😉
Great! Sounds like one for the grown-ups!
@@thefilmseeker Modern adults watch children's movies. Maybe you mean pretentious adults that pretend they're geniuses by being able to appreciate confusing movies where nothing happens 😉
I'm going to easily pass.
