Explosions In The Sky performing Only Moment We Were Alone live at Metro Theatre in Sydney on 11 December 2011
Explosions in the Sky is an American post-rock band from Texas. The band has garnered popularity beyond the post-rock scene for their elaborately developed guitar work, narratively styled instrumentals, what they refer to as "cathartic mini-symphonies," and their enthusiastic and emotional live shows. They primarily play with three electric guitars and a drum kit, although band member Michael James will at times exchange his electric guitar for a bass guitar.

Have you ever just listened to one song. And it completely expresses how you feel deeply inside. A song that has no lyrics but sounds of beautiful melodies. It's like the song is just the background music of the moment you are at in life. Things you are dealing with. It has its lower calm parts in the song and then it has its higher past parts in the song. Just like the ups and downs in life. This song is that song for me. It's so soothing to my soul and it tells a story if anyone can see it. It's like I'm floating and I feel nothing. It's like I'm free from all chaos. Simply beautiful. I can't wait to see them live one day

I love listening to their albums from front to back, just laying on the floor in my room, with the lights off… as the music enfolds my mind with a story. I haven’t done that in so long, it’s so therapeutic.
Seeing them in a few weeks for the first time!!! Been wanting to for at least 15 years…It’s going to be overwhelmingly beautiful, just thinking of it gives me goosebumps.

Not much else can compare to the three guitar magic suspenseful build-ups Explosions in the Sky serenades us with.

i discovered these dudes in high school, over a decade ago and i've heard this song specifically probly over 150-200 times haha, got sick of it and hadn't heard in years. then i pulled this up and jesus, it all comes rushing back. i've seen them live a couple times and they are on point, which is hard to do especially when there are no vocals and the tiniest mistake(even just missing one fret) can ruin the entire vibe haha, idk how these guys do it so damn well

I love post-rock but I'm really struggling to get into these guys after hearing good things about them. Can anyone recommend a good place to start with them?
Introductory songs: 'Your Hand In Mine', 'First Breath After Coma', 'Last Known Surroundings', 'The Birth and Death of the Day', 'Postcard From 1952'.
Introductory album: 'The Earth is not a Cold Dead Place', or/and 'Take Care Take Care Take Care'.
