This is the perfect song for any occasion. Life, death, morning, night, spring, winter, happy, depression, doubt, hope. On and on and on. On my top 5 list for best songs of all time.
I play this all the time when I am walking in the morning or doing some light jog. It really clears up your mind and give you that sense of calmness. It makes me appreciate my surroundings every time.
for a funeral and a wedding for remembering the good and the bad for the past the present and future for life this song is all of that without a word being spoken
this song reminds me of life...takes my stress and anxiety away. takes me to seeing my two beautiful girls playing in the yard, my wife working on a project in the garage. a cold beer in my hand...the face of my best friend who left to soon, a year ago tomorrow. embrace life you guys. love and life is to short...
Your hand in mine. I still remember the first time I held your hand in mine. That beautiful soft angel’s hand. It was spring, in the evening and everything was blooming. We walked side by side. Headed nowhere. Just us, cold wind, and dimmed city lights in the background. You talked so loud because there were so many cars passed by. You talked and talked and I just mesmerized by you. I asked god how the hell that he managed to create a creature as beautiful as you. Then you smiled. Your goddamned smiled could easily solve the mystery of the universe. The sky slowly bled into night. It was in that brief moment, the moment where the pinky sky melted into the darker shades of blue; coexist. I looked into your eyes, that beautiful sad pale blue eyes; I saw paradise. I realized you were the one I’ve been waiting for my whole life so I bowed down and asked you to marry me. Today, 30th anniversary of our wedding, I hold your hand in mine, but something feels odd, your hands cold and you’re not talking anymore. Years passing by, I’m old and alone in my bed, I can slowly feel the pain of my sickness that I’ve failed to battle for years, I close my eyes, Remembering the thought of holding your hand, in the spring, in the twilight, in that busy road. I’m no longer feel the pain. As I open my eyes, I can see you clearly, full of light, smiling. There’s a strange warm feeling in my hand. That’s when I realise.. Your hand in mine.
Manga DBZ they made it for Friday night lights, a series about highschool. I think they made it to bring back that nostalgia, I think they might be geniuses 😂
Anyone else grow up in West Texas and just fall in love with this band because of Friday Night Lights? I know I did. The movie theater in my town in Texas had that movie playing for like 3 months. This song on that final drive. Chills.
My wife walked down the aisle to this song. Earlier this year we got to seem them live, and experience it from the crowd. So profoundly beautiful and haunting.
I saw them live at the Paradiso, and got to meet them randomly at the street the day before. I asked them to play a couple of my favs (Moon is Down, Only Moment, and this one, your hand in mine) and they played them in that order at the show . I’ll cherish that show forever.
What is awesome is how successful this song was and how iconic it ended up being in Friday Night Lights. It honestly makes that movie what it is. However, usually when a band has a song go big in a movie, it is always tied to that movie. Except with this song though, I think it is still bigger than the movie.
This song is so painful for me to listen to. It reminds me of so much, so many times in my life, and it hits so hard. I rarely can get past the first few seconds. After just the first few notes, nostalgia, sadness, and incomplete thoughts just destroy me... ...and I love it so much. Just like others have said, this is the one song I want playing if I ever get married, and at my funeral. This song is a part of me.
Sometimes when we're feeling down, and least expect it, something random happens. Out of no where people come along, and share golden tracks like this. This track was more than needed tonight. Many thanks.
Found this song during a bad breakup and it was the anthem of heartbreak and depression. That was 13 years ago. Now happily married with a 5 month old son. This is now an anthem of growth happiness and love. I will forever be grateful to this band for getting me through so much
F*ck lad, this was some of the stuff that really was a match being lit in a hurricane to re-ignite my love of music and life. Hope your son is doing well and you too 🙂
Ditto for me too. But for a few years I couldn't listen to it because of the pain of nostalgia it would bring me. But a few years back I noticed I could happily listen to this and another of their classic songs (memorial) again without evoking pain. That's a sure sign of having moved on. Which in the end is a great feeling.
I have this CD. It was playing loud when I I found my sick dog dead one morning, I carried her big body to the back, the garden where I dig her grave, a very hard work as it had to be big. At the final moment, when all was covered with earth, I could listen to the song again as the whole CD had been playing over and over. Felt like the end, like part of my life was gone forever. One day, I left a note on a local "pet adoption" web, announcing I was able to adopt a big dog, with not much hope. Several months later, I received a phone call, a couple leaving the country looking for a home for their dog, unable to migrate with their pet. They sent photos, I said yes. Few days later they brought the dog to my house. When I opened the door, they were still in their car, as the dog was really afraid. To my amazement, this song was playing in their car. After we managed to get the dog safe inside my garden, before they left, I asked about the music, they said it was just an "alternative rock radio program" , nothing special. And we waived good bye. And I stood still, wondering if just a casualty, or ... is it , no matter how sad, life will give you back what you lost, in any other form....

You'd think that in a band with three lead guitars the drums would become an afterthought but Hrasky has found a way to make his sound just as iconic as any other aspect of their music.
I had never heard of this band until about a decade ago. When I saw them live in Utopia Texas at Utopia Fest - which is a weekend long festival usually starting Thursday and ending Sunday, where you set up tents (or RV’s but we did tents) to sleep in Friday and Saturday night. They were the last band of the night to play, taking the stage at like midnight and finished their set around 1am I believe. I remember hearing this song SO vividly. I only briefly actually watched them on stage. But Utopia Fest is set up in an area surrounded by hills on all sides, so it is literally a natural amphitheater, so wherever you are on the campgrounds of the festival, you can hear the bands playing perfectly. I have such a fresh memory as if it was only yesterday of sitting around a campfire with my friends, drinking and looking up at the stars - in a place in the middle of the Texas Hill Country with such little light pollution that you could see all the stars in the sky and the Milky Way so clearly. Just listening to this song playing.. Not speaking a word, just enjoying the company and being immersed completely by the music and the beauty of the amazing night sky. Such a strong core memory.. A memory I hope I’ll never lose as long as I live.
That little piece on the guitar at 2:42 repeated until 5:25 is just so amazingly beautiful. Reminds me of the riff from Romeo and Juliet - Dire Straits
Heard thos song and I say to myself where hVe I heard it before......my son loved this band and I knew I would finally see it and this band name is bigger than life and it was as if it revealed itself to me on this website and I was like this is it its gotta be it........just an incredible experience to hear your music...... very wonderful and I have never forgotten it.......heard this on a movie LOVE HAPPENS (2009)
This is so beautiful but I can't tell you how much this guitar sound reminds me of the late great Stuart Adamson from Big Country. He was an especially gifted monster of a guitarist who has been criminally underappreciated.
The first time I heard this song was when I was in my toughest of times, the only times I felt I only had my guitar , and My guitar teacher showed me this song and I fell in love because of how it changed my mood in a second , years passed and I lost the song , i lost myself a lot and now I’m here and we’ll my husband bought me a new one cause the last one I had my dad bought it for me but broke but I never wanted to throw it away and I found this song , again and I’m happy and crying because I found it !!
Samuel Sara you not the only one bro def made me tear and I had no idea why and at the point I realized cause it was great music simplistic and amazing
I listened to this while driving up to the mountains ...... parked on the side, highered the music.. closed my eyes for a bit and after I watched the sunset alone . Alone time is sometimes what I need . Totally recommend it .
I went to their concert two days ago (believe it or not, I found out a day before they were coming in my city so I immediately bought the ticket) and I specifically remember when they were playing this song I was watching around me seeing all these people gathered here by a common thing: our love for them. People were lightly moving their heads to the rhythm of this song and I thought “I am here and I’m alive and I’m listening to one of the songs that I always used to listen during one of the worst times of my life live” and I almost started crying because I did it, I overcame it even though I thought I wasn’t able to. Now, I think about those times almost melancholically, I was so fragile back then and I felt terribly miserable; like nothing would have changed, but it did and I survived and I am here and I’m so glad to be alive so that I can experience pain, joy, love, grief again and again and learn from them. A huge thank you for explosions in the sky and for making my heart so warm and my head so light
This song is beautifully composed. It speaks more to me than most songs that have lyrics. You could be at your worst and this brings the best out of you. Music that makes you feel something is good music
Is it odd that I want this played at both my wedding and my funeral?

Now, I think about those times almost melancholically, I was so fragile back then and I felt terribly miserable; like nothing would have changed, but it did and I survived and I am here and I’m so glad to be alive so that I can experience pain, joy, love, grief again and again and learn from them.

This song is beautifully composed. It speaks more to me than most songs that have lyrics. You could be at your worst and this brings the best out of you. Music that makes you feel something is good music
I cry at this every time I hear it
MELVIEE B i do too, but i still want to listen. so i cry.
I love the way dude just shakes head like hes in disbelief of how damn beautiful this song is. KUDOS MATE!!
