      Here’s the link for the brushes www.kleen-ritecorp.com/p-43735-ametek-33492-1-carbon-vacuum-motor-brush-119539-00.aspx#description
      Sparks can be caused by the brushes being worn down to the casing.

      If the brushes wear down to the point where the metal casing starts to contact the rotating part of the motor it will spark.

    I didn't understand...Was this motor faulty because brushes were worn out, because they don't look that bad? Or you are regularly changing the brushes? I am trying to diagnose the problem with my motor which doesn't power up. I inspected the brushes and they look similar to the conditions of yours...So would you advise to change them or the problem could be within the motor? Unfortunately I don't have multimeter to be precise with diagnostics.

      Thanks for your comment. I do change them regularly, but in this video I may have used newer ones. The brushes don’t cost very much.

    Thanks for your video and expertise. Did you mention what vacuum brand that motor belong to? My vacuum's motor hums but it does not work after a starting switch repair during warranty period and my own cleaning maintenance and new belt job after watching the smoke coming out. It is hardly used! I enjoy dusting thorougly the filter and then washing it and drying it for days before using it again. I see pieces of rubber in plastic area that surrounds shaft. i also see that that plastic surface area around the shaft has been "corroded" and messed up some mm. by the belt rubbing against.... I wonder if i should pay to have it repaired? Mine is an Eureka Model AS1000 Type A (?) I have to continue my search to learn more. Many thanks again. Regards from Florida.

      Thanks Kil Hefner for watching and commenting on the video. The motor is from a Carwash vacuum that attaches to top of the canister. No belts involved.

      The coils in the windings may be broken, or it may be overheating due to many different issues. It maybe best to start looking at the simple things first. Is it under too much load, are the bearings turning freely? It also could be a problem with the current / voltage. I hope you find the problem so it will work again. Best wishes.

    I am new to the industry and im trying to repair vacuum cleaners, and the motors always fail. How do i fix the motors I dont want to replace them, one doesnt spin, one burnt, one was sparking, and the other one is working but it sounds like something is being dragged.

    • @flymanff
      @flymanff  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question, try checking the connectors, the bearings, and the brushes on the motor. If you can replace parts like these it could keep them running a while longer. It is sometimes better to replace the motor. I hope you the best.
      And thanks for watching my videos.

    If the plastic housing is brittle and breaks, what do you do?

    • @flymanff
      @flymanff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question, I might try to repair the break or cracks by glue or epoxy and if the damage is too severe, the motor probably needs to be replaced. Search the internet for a replacement. Best wishes to you.

    How do you repair the lower part of the blower (big silver part)?

    • @flymanff
      @flymanff  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If it’s bad, the bearings and shaft are probably worn too bad to be fixed. Might be a good idea to just replace the whole thing.

    My vaccum is about 7-8 years old it operates both dry and wet modes and makes very loud noise which wasnt earlier and lately its also having a little burnt smell coming when turned on with noise, also after the motor come to complete stop we can hear impeller stoping sound (metal scrapping on one another) not too much loud though but a little scrap sound at stopping what must be the problem??

    • @flymanff
      @flymanff  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like it may be the bearing are worn, or maybe the fan has slipped on the shaft. If it is 7-8 years old and been used often it’s a good bet that it is worn out and needs replaced.

    Where do i know wheres is the positive and the negative side on the motor and on the wore? I dont see any - or+ mark

    • @flymanff
      @flymanff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comment. The connectors for the electricity need to be connected back the same way they were disconnected. If you’re not sure which side it was, and happened to connect it backwards it will run backwards. Then you can just switch the leads so that it runs the correct way. Please be cautious and turn off the power source before you do this to avoid electric shock.

    Lo que me interesa es saber cómo cambiar las turbinas y ver cómo es el órden de acomodo

    • @flymanff
      @flymanff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The turbine fans are held on by tabs that slide on to the shaft so with a little pressure should slide off.
