i think if you have long femur to low leg ratio higher knee is less efficient in sprinting but you need strong hamstring to strike the ground without braking force.
Extremely informative. Thank you for sharing this valuable scientific analysis on high knees in sprinting. For too long there has been a blanket approach to this aspect of sprint mechanics. I'm working with a new 15 yr old sprinter who is 6' 3" and as you highlighted, the training is a combination of force production, quick leg under the hip, tall relaxed posture and smooth full range arm movement. As we work to get his knees higher, I believe that will all come together as we continue to develop strength, form and flexibility. Anything else to fast track his development?
+Ray A besides doing top speed sprinting, yes. But lifting and top speed are a long way from each other, so lifting has to be used correctly. See my series on strength training adaptations.
May the force be with you sprinters

nice, well said
Thank you very much you helped me a lot

uhh hard to give advice with little knowledge, but watch part 7 of this series. Any specific questions email daniel@jump-science.com
What is the best way to improve acceleration to top speed and improve top end speed?
Is lifting the best way to increase force? Including for top end speed?

400 m "It's not an all out sprint" .. Wayde Van Niekerk didn't get the memo.
Haha even Wayde has to pace. 10.7 first 100m in that world record. PB is 9.94.
But how to improve the force? Lets say.. more force during 0.1s? tough one!!
that's what speed science 7 was about
Interesting 🤔
The same mechanic look different at. Different speed
