It is revealing what can be deduced from the characters by seeing how they are dressed. Seeing Vicky's dress, we realize Jake's jealous personality. Vickie's clothes are not flashy, but loose so that she does not mark her body, the skirt almost reaches her ankles, almost like a nun's.

In my opinion. And all due respect to some great movies like Goodfellas Wolf of Wall Street and King of Comedy. But IMO Scorsese can never top this. Acting is absolutely phenomenal. A timeless classic.
This movie literally entails the story of a emotionally troubled man who like all of us did a few mistakes and fucked up things to cost his career. Beautiful character study and a beautifully tragic film.
