Hi thatsmethistime. I know your's is an old comment, but never mind! Yes, there has been a lot of Netherlands influence here over the centuries. Always trade across the see. In 1500s many Netherlanders had settled here, mainly to escape religious persecution and also flooding. Dutch engineers showed how to drain marshes with windmill pumps. Also built the harbour entrance at Gt Yarmouth which still stands. Many houses here have what we call Dutch gable ends, the curved walls at the ends of house roofs. By the way Dylan, the Roman castle is pronounce Burrer Castle, and most of the railway bridges will open if you just sail up and down near. A board slides out by the Bridge Will Open sign, telling you how long you must wait. Some even have digital displays of the same info, and little pontoons you can tie up to while you wait for a train to pass.

Interesting, that roman fort. The tiles must be what we call the 'tegula and imbrix' i think. And it's there allmost like here in the Netherlands, you have wind mills too. Are these a inheritance from the dutch?

hello... @ 8:25 you mention "amphibious Saxons"... but you were talking about the Roman era in Britain... there were no Saxons in Britain at that time, they were British, not Saxons.... the Anglo-Saxon stuff happened after the Romans left.... Even though I was born in England, I am British, not English
EDIT, and at 9:25 you say "... there are times when it's good to be English"... but you were talking about the Roman period.... when England didn't exist.... perhaps you meant "British"... but the English are not British, they are Germans, English is not a Brythonic language.
You are a clever chap and I respect you, I am going through ALL your playlists so a lot more to go yet, and I am 100% in agreement with your lifestyle and opinions (I think you call them mobo's, or the ignorant English motor cruisers in their pirate costumes), so please don't take what I say to strongly, I'm only trying to get you to think about things.
