    Absolutnie poruszające do głębi, wstrząsające wykonanie!

    BEAUTIFUL l!!! Great violinist, - a wonderful performance of this fascinating, beautiful and melancholy concerto, in places so utterly sad and heartbreaking. This concerto was written for David Oistrakh, it was meant for his 60th birthday, but Shostakovich wrote it by mistake one year too early. He felt he wanted to celebrate David Oistrakh's birthdays, so a year later he wrote concerto No. 2 for the King of Violinists, in my opinion the greatest of the greats of all times.

    Georgia seems to produce so many amazing musicians! Although, I gather she grew up in Turkey so dual nationality in this case. Her way of playing reminds me of Ginette Neveu somehow (who pipped Oistrakh to the post in this very competition!).

    After a muscular Beethoven from David Lin, and a sentimental rendering of the Wieniawski this was the strongest emotion of the evening. A valiant and heartfelt performance braving indifferent horns and a tired and under-rehearsed orchestra.

    I loved the performance. And yes the cadenza starting at minute 29 was wonderful. She started the cadenza slow and then built it up masterfully and ended with passion. The music flowed out of her. She is a worthy winner - hard to vote against others, but she was indeed great! ... Google translate into polish ... Zaczęła kadencji powolne, a następnie zbudowano go po mistrzowsku, a zakończył z pasją.

      I generally stay away from comparing, as each musician expresses musicality in his/her unique manner. I regret your mentioning "Asian" in a derogatory manner. It's one thing to say Bomsori the violinist lacks originality but you make it sound like Asians in general lack originality. Oh by the way, currently (September 2023), Bomsori is not doing too bad as a solo violinist, and from what I can see, she carries herself with class and humility.@@asalj4014

      Why would you smile when you are about to play this piece. Completely inappropriate. Instead her expression struck me as someone who means business. Did you by any chance read what Rostropovitch said to Vengerov when he was a young man, about what this music is saying? It's mentioned in the Strad this month funnily enough.

      Veriko had clear intentions about what she wanted to do with every piece including the Shostakovich concerto, she was the one with most character, from the start the audience had the impression that she was cold and ruthless and she showed that best with the Shostakovich violin concerto, as for the other participants including Bomsori Kim, Bomsori played like in every other competition I have listened to her, with no character, really faintly and she showed just a failed attempt of what a built musician should look and sound like. Veriko had some intonation problems but from the whole performance thats the last thing that we as an audience should pay attention to.

    • @hugooliveira4817
      @hugooliveira4817 7 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      The difference between Veriko and Bomsori is that Veriko is making music and Bomsori is playing the violin, which she does very well, but those are two very different things.

    • @chrisbanyan3564
      @chrisbanyan3564 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      +hugo oliveira
      I beg to disagree. Veriko sees the concert as a romantic orgasm and uses a lot of doubtful pseudo - romantic manierisms to transfer this interpretation (which makes it audible difficult for the orchestra to follow) while Bomsoro Kim brings out the dramatic and often desparate (especially in the cadenza) mood which is one of the main characterictics of Schostakowichs works (and life).
      But that's only my personal taste. I disagree but I don't disrespect :)
