- A lioness and male lion who were flirting around got too flirty when the lioness got too rowdy and pushed the big male into a hole.

Out too late (past sunset and in darkness) on a dirt track in Chobe N.P., my jeep driver made a hard left...and we smacked right into a mating pair. Because of the hard left, our headlights didn't illuminate the lions until we were right on them. We were going appropriately slow and just bumped them, but it kinda broke the mood and they separated. The look the male gave me as we passed and kept going.... Same look you would give someone if they accidentally walked in on you and your lady doing the act. I tried not to anthropomorphosize that look, but....
To this day I still find myself apologizing to that lion (and yes, his lady, too).
Watching lions, male & female, interact is so funny! They’re so much like us Humans in many ways. We don’t like for someone to flirt and come on too strong or it’s a turn off … just like them. And when we’re feeling someone, we too, try to show signs that we’re interested … just like them as well.

I think the lion was being nice to the females, to win their favour. They also seemed unworried, so they probably dont have cubs to worry about. They'll probably become a pride, soon.
