I'm 26, graduated with a dual-bachelor's in management, as well as marketing, received 3 nonprofit certifications, a google digital marketing certification, and a hubspot digital marketing certification, and really looking into the life of a social media specialist. Seeing these types of videos really helps with the day-to-day of a DMS, and helps with the anxiety i have over putting myself out there on doing it!

Hey there! I really love your energy and it gives me hope. :D I work as a Digital Marketing Specialist for 4 months now. The thing is, I never did marketing before, I have a BA in Graphic Design and I had to start from zero with all the information and the habits I need to keep up with the work.
I have a question for you: where is it cool to start with? KPI notions, theory and stuff like that? Or practicing until it gets better? (This is what I'm doing right now lol)
I sometimes feel like a fraud, I'm also shy and when I have to talk to the Copywriter, it's complicated for me. Teach me, master!! 😆😆
Hey Eva! Congrats on the marketing role, it seems like you've decided to step into growth. I'm excited to see what the future holds for you.
I'd recommend you practice until you get better. On top of that, research while you do. For example, in your job you might be asked to create a landing page, but instead of simply creating one off the top of your head, research what makes a really good landing page and spend about an hour doing so before actually creating one.
This will do two things:
- You'll learn the theory but practically apply it so you don't forget
- You'll be able to keep up with the slang and knowledge of other reputable marketers
This is something I'm still doing now to this day and it's been helping me a lot.
So again, research while you do.

As a Digital…Marketing… Specialist as you say it, I envy your video editing.
Not many people understand the subconscious level of attraction and interaction your splices causes for the viewers. It creates a “dead air, rambling feel” to a cut to the chase feel.
I’m one year into my position here in So Cal, Bakersfield and am doing my first day in the life and I’m nervous. I’m my own worst enemy but I can give one heck of a pep talk or uplift elevator speech to someone.

A big part of what you'll be doing is writing. So I'd recommend you learn a bit of writing - you don't need to be the best writer just be good enough and you should be ok!

It's a good start but not enough. I'd recommend you learn practical digital marketing skills via free work, freelancing, or creating your own projects. From there, create a portfolio and show it to employers. This will make you much more employable.

I broke into marketing, never having studied marketing in school. What's helped me has been:
- Learning practical marketing skills through my side business
- Creating a portfolio of work that showed employers I knew my stuff

Does a digital marketing specialist college certification combined with a UX design Google certificate help you land a good job in UX Design?
Hey there, as long as the program gives you practical hands on experience that you can add into a portfolio, there will be a high chance of employers will see your technical skills and hire you. But if you solely rely on a degree or certification to get a job, that's not going to be effective.
For example, for me, I broke into digital marketing without ever having done any certifications, educational requirements etc. But I was able to do it because I had practical copywriting experience.
Do I, as an e-marketing specialist, use music in my work and what are the works in which I can't use music?
Are you talking about copywright claim? Honestly this is outside my area of expertise. What are you trying to do, make videos? If so, I've used Artlist in the past, it's great for copyright free music.
I am a marketing management student and i want to pursue digital marketing as a career. I'm very passionate to but I noticed that marketing management course here in my country doesn't teach us about seo, google analytics and the over all digital marketing, so I have to take shourt courses separately to learn the require skills to be able to pursue this career. Hopefully i took the right path in this degree and this will led me to my dream career.

No, I start my marketing specialist position Monday. BUT you need to have experience and be able to convey that to a company. Self learning would be good as well. I’ve invested in courses over the years (social media tips, SEO, running ads, etc.). Good luck with everything!

Hi man, what advice would you give me im currently doing my apprenticeship on digital marketing, I wanted to ask you if you got any tips for me starting and is it good to have a lot of certificates for a job interview or not? Because I have 20 focused on digital marketing.
What I'll tell you is prioritize real life experience and keep track of all those projects in a portfolio. Then use that portfolio during job interviews to sell yourself. That's more likely to get you a job than collecting certifications.

Back when I was working in this role (this was one of the first marketing roles I’ve ever had) I as getting paid $45,000 Cad \ year working 40 hours a week.
Ok, so… you have to do a lot of design things like photoshop and editing. And also you have to be copywriter. Is it better to know design to be better at digital marketing?
You don't have to know design, but if you do, you're 10 steps ahead compared to everyone else. It'll give you a boost for sure.

Are you saying from my job? It all depends on where you work. If you work at an agency, you'll die lol. If you work in a big company as an inhouse marketer you'll have a lot more free time :)

Well, this really depends on the company. Not necessary if you work in digital marketing.
In my current job, I do have quotas, but in previous jobs, I didn't. So it really depends.

Hey Mic, the rule of thumb I like to go by is:
Practical experience is always better to have than just textbook knowledge. During interviews, if they ask you "have you ever done XYZ" and all you can reply back with is "well, I studied this in school"

You're only a slow learner because you say you are. If you think that going into the role, you will struggle.
Instead, maybe re-frame it as, "I take my time learning because I'm very thorough, and this will help me with the job"

Great question, just keep in mind brand management and digital marketing are like brothers and sisters. With brand management you're managing the brand and this can relate to billboards products ads commercials etc. With digital marketing it's more about the online marketing aspects of the marketing side and this can Branch into brand management.
It all depends on what you really like at the end.

Are you asking about how many hours per week I work? It depends, there were times I work 30 hours, other times 60 hours, it all depends on where you work.
Agencies = long work hours
Big companies = short work hours
Running your own business = really long work hours

It depends where you work and how you work.
Some places they burn you out. Some places they love worklife balance, some place you'll be bored out of your mind.
Again, it's not about the work itself that dictates worklife balance, but the place you work.
