Journey behind a thumping ALCO in 2024 sounds like the stuff of dreams, with Indian Railways and its very questionable policies ensuring that these reliable beasts are being removed from service even if they are fairly new.
Shot in August 2024, here is one such short journey that still somehow exists in Karnataka, the little 5-coach Mangalore Central - Subrahmanya Road Passenger. This being a very lightweight consist, the WDM3D didn't need to put in much effort, but just its sheer presence was enough to make the long drive to Mangalore and this journey in the sweltering coastal heat totally worth it.
Note that this is NOT a vlog. This was recorded just for the fun of it, and to share the many sounds of classic diesel power.

Thanks, but this is not the ghat section. This is Mangalore - Subrahmanya Road section which is a normal route. The Bisle ghat section starts from Subrahmanya Road and ends at Sakleshpur.
