HOW I INTEND TO LIVE CHEAPLY IN SOUTH EAST ASIA

- You hear different figures on how much it costs to live in Thailand or the neighbouring countries. Some give you a modest sum, others say twice as much. I have my own ideas.
If you like this video give it a thumbs up, subscribe if you haven't already (a big thanks to those who already have) and remember to press that all important notification bell for latest uploads. Cheers.
Eddie as having severe alcohol problems myself.
Please do not go into this one month drinking, one month off.
It is a recipe for disaster.
Most of my adult life I have battled to deal with my addiction, trying all sorts.
I was even dry for 7 years, but eventually started drinking again.
Back to Square 1.
Go to Thailand, stay in England, the problem is still ingrained.
Hopefully, you can find a safe resolution.
Remember, AA exists in Thailand if needed.
Forget about your budget and health if you start drinking heavily again.
Good luck, mate, only you can control your future.
@paulmillward7009 I couldn't agree more. Was addicted to alcohol for 12 years, managed to quit after numerous attempts, I tried having dry periods like eddie suggests but without fail I always ended up in a worst state than before drinking even more heavily to make up for the time I'd been sober. The good news is the cravings go away after a while. I've been 8 years sober now and drinking never even crosses my mind now.
@jackhusbands8462 well done, mate.
The alcohol is a nightmare to beat.
It's probably the same as me
trying to beat up Mike Tyson.
Stay safe, and sober.
Best wishes.
Thanks for your opinion
My impression is that Ed is a habitual drinker - not an alcoholic. Big difference. In terms of the body's capacity to heal itself, I'm sure one month on / one month off makes sense.
@mareduddaprheinallt4923 please f off if you do not have a drink problem.
You will never understand.
Thank you for your comment
Eddy's strategy in a nutshell:
Month 1: Beers, diiiiirty diiiiirty soapy massages, sandwiches, fried chicken with BBQ sauce...
Month 2: Ginger Ale, Netflix, livestreams, walks...
😉
You got it!
Lamo. Kind of complicated.
Reading books or listening to them on audible is also a great distraction.
Lmao
Eddie, a couple of obvious points as someone who has lived in SE Asia for a long time. Living somewhere is very different to visiting. You make close friends become part of a community especially here.. Don't write off long term relationships(I have been married to a cambodian for 20 years) as so long as you set clear rules and respect each others differences it can be a source of happiness. On night life i think the golden rule is if the night is not happening, and it often is not, go home and don't waste money. If it is go for it and cherish the memory! I am sure you will find your own way and i wish you every happiness.
Thanks, mate
Beers on a friday or saturday night only. Month on/off will be disastrous.
totally agree. much easier to do
I think Eddie is drinking thinking .
Exactly
If you live on one of the islands in a less touristy part and all you want is to zen out, chill on the beach, swim, walk get the occasional 200 baht massage and can live in a basic 5000 baht a month place and don’t pay all the expensive insurance policies, ride a bicycle to get around you can live in Thailand comfortably for way less than a $1000 a month ( if nothing goes wrong medically etc) . If you want to live in the heart of Pattaya or Bangkok, eat out, go partying, run a motorcycle or a car, have a girlfriend, have insurance cover then it starts at $3000 upwards very rapidly. Everyone has different needs but for sure you can live in Thailand cheaply living a simple and quiet life.
I agree with you buddy, you can have a much better life on $1000 in Thailand than sunny England
Indeed most Thai people get by fine on less than $1000 per month.
I've been living in Chiang Rai for over 7 years now and on average live on a budget of under 1,000GBP. I live in a very rural area where the temptations of bars are a long way away! However, 2-3 times a year I head off to the coast for a couple of weeks at a time to get my fill of sea air and some entertainment. I'm an exercise junkie and drink very little so, my money goes a lot further. I live very comfortably and enjoy the quiet life for most of the year and treat my trips to the coast as a holiday. If people are going to come here and live the high life in the likes of Phuket and Pattaya then they are going to end up skint very quickly. It's all about discipline and common sense. Enjoy your travels Eddie.
Thanks for your info
Excellent advice, if you live in the tourist beach places, it stops being special after a while, by living in a relatively boring rural area, those places stay special, but are only a short journey away
@@MrWho007 agreed. Spent a year on Phuket got very boring.
Thanks for the video Eddie and great to see that you are keenly awaiting the big day. I'm doing the same next May, flight and hotel in Pattaya booked, I wish you all the best for your plans. As you say things will work themselves out when you get there as you get used to living mode as opposed to holiday mode.
The main way of getting your budget down is getting a monthly rate on accommodation and staying their for a few months. You get settled and learn of all the local places that you enjoy and are good value. Also when you are settled somewhere it’s much easier to stay in a few nights a week I am in Jomtien now found a really good place for 9000 baht (£205) a month inc electricity and water it’s perfect 1 minute from the promenade and beach.
I stayed in Na Kluea this year, 5500 baht, inkluding water electricity and wifi. Big room with kitchen and terace in a nice garden. Bought a bicykle. Used the bike every day all around Pattaya.
Would be great if you made a video dedicated to financial arrangements alone that you've put in place to make this happen, what sort of income sources, how much, will you still need to work, do you still keep anything here, what are contingency plans etc etc, would be greatly useful to many.
The ramblings of an absolute madman LoL.
Great video, Eddie, I personally would not be doing one month on one month off I would be doing Monday through Friday living like a nun and then Saturday and Sunday you go out wild and have fun. Two days a week on the weekend of something to look forward to. A full month of debauchery is just to much.
Great to hear the enthusiasm in your voice
Well done, Eddie. It's good to focus on your plan moving forward , hopefully, we can meet up for a lemonade or coffee . Anything is doable with adaption as we have found this year
Lovely Eddy. Your plan is doable. May your travels continue to be awesome.
Ciao from Sanremo.
Many thanks!
Thanks for update Edward 👍
When I travelled for many months, I found that two things were key : my level of enthusiasm to see new things/ have an adventure/ enjoy the local nightlife, and my energy to do these things. I was lucky that 95% of the time, they were in synch. But both went up and down. So you know how these things work for you, and I guess 4 weeks seems to work. And for me, to enjoy the nightlife etc. I had to be away for it for a time, otherwise it became routine. And Asia ( including up into China has such a range of prices that as you say, if you plan around your average spend, you can go over or under for a period to stay on track. 10 week countdown to your trip. We are all envious !
Good to hear from you
I'm sure with the experience you have, you'll soon settle into a groove, all the best Eddie. Hope to enjoy a glass of something with you soon.
And get eaten to death by inflation and looters...but for the England rented house..
Good luck to you Eddie what a great adventure hopefully see you in January in Pattaya chon keaw
Good luck to you mate. You'll work it out to suit yourself.
Good luck Eddie, l like your 1 month spend, 1 month save idea , sounds good to me
Great stuff Uncle Eddy! 👏
Thank you kindly
Sounds like you have a plan (that’s the needed part of retirement), Good luck with your future plans, I look forward to seeing your future pan out, keep vlogging, stay healthy my friend.
Good luck eddie, take up some hobbies like learning to read and write thai & some excercise like cycling or even walking. Join a club like the British club in Bangkok, or rotary club loads of things to do there. Look forward to your adventures
Or just learning how to read and write , or maybe collecting bottles . 😁
@@weementaldavy5987 Haahah you are so unkind !! But really ol' Ed has a screw loose with this expat idea.
Hi Eddie, that budget is very realistic. I'm currently travelling around south east asia, I spend 1 month in a given location then move on. I've visited Pattaya, Phuket and Da Nang in Vietnam so far. My expenditure for the months spent in Pattaya and Phuket was between £1000-£1100 and I'm on track to spend around £850 this month in Da Nang. Living on £1000 a month in this region of the world is relatively easy.
That's good to hear. Well done.
Having lived in SE Asia I can tell you that it is possible to stay here on IOO0 dollars per month, lots do it. The average wage in Thailand is close to 400 dollars per month. I waould say you can have a good time on 1200 dollars. The thing it doesn't mater if you have 1000 per month ot 10,000 life will be better in this part of the world than the West

True words mate
I wish you all the best, Ed. I know you can make it work if you set your mind to it. I`ve strongly considered retiring in SE Asia (I`m in the States) myself. I probably won`t ever do it just because I`m so used to certain things here in the good ol` US and, frankly, I don`t think I could adjust to living there on a permanent basis. So, just occasional visits for me. All the best! Look forward to updates!
I totally agree with your thoughts, Eddy. Just like alcohol, everything in moderation. Personally, I could probably do 1 month on, 2 months off, especially from nightlife. If I go hard for a whole month, 2 months recovery would be easily do-able, provided you could still enjoy things like massages and the odd (non-girlie) bar trip. The trick is finding something to occupy your time for the month(s) off.
Great idea/concept; one on, one off.
Eddie, I live on £1300 a month and I own my condo so do not pay rent. If you pay rent add £200 to £300 on top. I live very well, go out every day for a few beers- nothing heavy, and really do not go out at night. I am not here for the nightlife but I can stay here comfortably and enjoy almost everything I want. I have learned to cut back on alcohol as I used to drink far more than I do now and a few beers a day gets me out and about and provides the opportunity to mingle. Hope this helps and good luck.
Thanks for your info
We are all different eddie, one month "on" seems a long time to me...twice a week sounds good...good luck with your new venture...
Hope ya live ya best life there and have a great time mate, wishin ya all the best 👍
Thanks mate
Hi Eddie one life live it, wishing you all the best on your journey. Respect
Hey, thanks
Look forward to seeing you Eddie.
You, too, mate. Hope all's well
Your concept of one month on (amid the action) -one month off (quiet existence) resonates with me. I think it's a wonderful idea.
Hey eddie ,i have been to many places in thailand but my favourite place is pattaya ,many people are a bit snobby about pattaya but you know what your getting ,i just feel so at home there and hopefully will be retiring soon as well and moving to thailand
Steady Eddie............Indefinitely..........Excellent choice:) You are the best. Peace.
Ed, You'll be fine Mate! Have a blow out for a couple of weeks and then get yourself in to a routine. You've got a good head on your shoulders with plenty of experience in South East Asia..
Enjoy the rest of your weekend Pal
Cheers, mate
Eddie your a experienced traveler and you know your life after a few weeks you will calm down Then get yourself in to a routine best of luck to you and have the best time in the sunny climate of South east Asia
Thanks, Jannie
An alcoholic going to pattaya. What could be wrong with that. People who are living on a 1000 a month usually are staying in one spot for at least a year, so they can bargain for the best rental rate. So you are go to be living in some shitty apartments to keep rent costs down. Even if you aren’t drinking. Food and regular drinks add up. Probably 250 to 300 baht a day minimum which is 9000 bht a month. You need health insurance and at your age it won’t be cheap. Minimum 100 to 120 dollars a month. Because you don’t have your own transportation. That will double your transportation costs. Phone and home wifi. Electricity costs are very expensive. Especially if the month you stay home you don’t go out will mean that air conditioning will be working overtime.
As for partying one month and taking it easy the other. Big no no. I’m in the medical field. Doing that at your age will make your heart take a beating and will cause you to get diabetes. Ed, I really think you need to rethink what you are doing. This is definitely not a good plan. What about horizontal refreshments you’re undoubtably going to partake in? The girls are not getting cheaper. The grass may not be greener on the other side at your age. I really feel if you have to count your pennies or pence at your age, you shouldn’t be doing it. Anyway, you’re a grown man and I leave in your hands. Good luck.
Well said
Another alternative Eddy is alternate days, drink and party for example Monday, Wednesday and Friday, then stay in Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday . Following week alternate , some people might find one full month a little bit of a long stretch going dry.
I like your planning Eddy 👍
Thanks 👍
Hi Eddy, l am also off Retiring in The Philippines thanks to you inspiring me to visit Southeast asia.
My flight is booked, my plans made and a lady waiting. I really enjoy watching your videos and listen to your advice.
I have lived and worked in Spain, Dubai for 20 years
Best of luck, mate
HI Jeffrey Where in the Philippines do you plan on settling ? I'm thinking doing something similar !!
@@roderick2105 HI l am thinking of Dumagete or Bohol
Another pervert lol
Stay out of the city and go to a place a short flight from Manila where it’s cheaper (and safer)
You can buy a Condo as a foreigner which is better than renting
Eddie's plan: one month on/off drinking. One month on/off for budget. This is perhaps the worst plan I have ever heard. I wish you well, Eddie but this seems like a Kamikaze plan. I hope I'm wrong. Stay safe and keep us updated.
@billscars > Mate: Mr Sweeney is just adding click bait to all his videos to keep the traffic up hence the $$ to fund his travels.
Looking forward to some epic Steady Eddy Asia videos.
Good to hear from you, mate
Hi Eddie, I don’t think the month on month off thing is a good idea, you will probably drink too much the month on it and the month off it could be long and boring, surely drinking maybe 3 or 4 days a week would be better and easier to stick too, that way you are only drinking 12 days a month which over 2 months works out less than you would drink on your plan. That’s what I plan to do anyway. I wish you luck and look forward to your updates. 😎🍺
agree absolutely. a far more laid back approach
Agree 1 month drinking, 1 month not drinking will never never work, bad idea
Your right Eddy, living somewhere as opposed to going on holiday is totally different. Just like anywhere you live you find a balance in the way you live. I retired here to Thailand 5 weeks ago and you soon adapt a different mind set. Not sure about having a month on the beer and a month off ..just spread it out and have a few quiet days each week and dont drink at home. Good luck
I agree that sounds a far better idea with not too much extreme contrast
I would do the same...each to there own tho.
Your plan of a month on and a month off is a great idea. Regarding your budget, you have the added bonus of TH-cam earnings that will more than adequately cover a large percentage of your costs. Your channel will skyrocket if you manage it correctly and by living in Thailand the content and time to record it all will be unlimited. All the best and good luck to a happy future Eddie
Thanks, mate
Love it - a good plan - who would have thought - live within your means. Loving the content! 🍺 in Vietnam $0.80 a can 👌
I’ve been living in Thailand for about 3 years now. The guys that last here all have hobbies that keep them out of the bars
I'll be there around the same time. Will keep my eyes peeled and say gday if I see ya. I normally stay in the LK area. Not long to go now.
All my accommodation is already paid for and I've been getting by daily on 2300 baht.
Staying away from walking street & soi 6 has helped my budget along.
Nice one Eddie you will be ok you have seen most of it all before good luck 🤞
Thanks, Keith
I’ve always traveled this way Eddie . Home stays trekking village life eating local for 2 weeks . Then bars fancy accommodation girls for two weeks . It’s the difference that makes me appreciate each for what it is and the change the keeps it interesting. A month of bars or a month of village life left me unhappy.
Good stuff!
You ought to find a monthly condo in Pattaya, plenty advertised online. Will be much cheaper then 2 weeks in a hotel room. Decent condo on the darkside for around 6000 baht per month
When I get settled in Pattaya I'll be sorting all that out. I will check out your recommendations.
Hopefully our paths will cross, I will be in Pattaya from 22nd feb lets sit on the steps of some 7/11 and sup a ginger ale together, only 16 baht a can (no just kidding!!!)
Stedi edi, love it:)
Good luck Ed, can't blame you for leaving the UK, I envy you. I do the the same tomorrow if I had the money to live my life out in Pattaya,
Awesome Eddie, great advice and the costs involved in living in Thailand and your do fine ,Mate, I wish I could retire I'm only 55 😊🙏👍
You can do it!
Hi Eddie, very nice video clip full of sound advice and common sense. I wish you the best of luck living in Thailand and hope to cross paths with you someday in the future. Stay well and all the best!
I understand the comments about the chances of you slipping back to your old ways. I hope you will stay off the booze for good. You have admitted yourself that you feel so much better and healthier. You look better. Don't throw it all away 😢
He looks gaunt and much older since he stopped drinking

Hello Ed. I’m in Phnom Penh and I think $1000 is pretty doable. I am renting a 1 bedroom apartment for $250 a month. Food is cheap. Sometimes I cook and sometimes I eat out. I don’t pay for sex, because I’m not here on holiday, and I don’t drink excessively. I do much more than just exist, and there is a wonderful life to be had here. Good luck to you sir.
You don't get any sx either I bet
Friday Saturday Sunday on it Eddie.....chill through the week fk that month on month off mate
Alternate night life months sounds like a pretty good plan. I'm currently living in Malate at about $1800 a month and I'm going to apply that financial plan to my situation. I feel like my current financial existence is an adequate amount of cash for a single person but a bit meager for two (so I'm thinking the $1k USD is too little and the $2k is about right). Keep on fighting the good fight my man!
Good to hear from you
You have gotten this far in Life successfully doing what you want…if you want to drink ,drink,so what, squeezing out a few more years when you’re 87 really won’t matter if you didn’t enjoy the journey getting there.
Nicely said
Good man I hope one day to meet up with you in Pattaya I be there when you roll up your doing the right thing at the right time and that's right now happy days a
There is a saying in AA, If your controling the boose,It's out of control. I have been drink free since May 1986.
Live the dream, let the journey take you where it does, god will provide you with all you need
I've been living in Pattaya for eight years now. Highly recommended. It can be as cheap as you want to be. If you eat only Thai food and don't do much drinking, you can live very cheaply. My income is about 34 thousand USD a year. I live very well.
R u a monger
One brass a week and you’re golden 👍
Agreed 💯 😅
Does that include polishing the knobs!!
Hi Ed,,, I think its great and fantastic what your doing and good luck to to you and for having the balls to do it,,, Your looking great and healthy at the moment, and I hope you stay that way,,, Im not as convinced tho with your theory of a month on and then a month off,,, You know once you get the taste your theory will go out the window and your health will deteriorate to what it was before. Its the same scenario as saying six months on and six months off,,, ( will that mean you will only be half as healthy ) I know you've got the experience to live there and still enjoy your life,,, but that doesn't include drinking like you was before,,, Anyway Ed I've been watching your channel since you first started and I hope to see much more of you on your travels so good luck with whatever you decide and go. Best wishes
Good to hear from you
Best of luck Eddie! It's going to be fun watching this next chapter in your life unfold
One way to comfortably live in Thailand is to have a home in an area that’s not in a tourist area. Then you can visit different places. Travel in country can be inexpensive, with savings of living in inexpensive areas the savings allows for more travel. Eventually you may find a great deal in the best place for you
It is a good habit and perspective to have to regulate you budget.
Looks good weather eddy❤
Not as good as Malta, I bet

It’s a disastrous idea to have one month drinking and then one month off the booze. Just stop and consume alcohol free beers, it’s great and you’ll soon enjoy it.
Lol alhochol free beer pathetic
@@tanthamanbut at least when you are sober you can spell the word alcohol 555
Do what you feel is right.
You have plenty of experience in these countries so shouldn't fall for the traps that newby's quite often get tangled in.
I have plenty of friends who live in Thailand & have lived there for years & they are not exited to hit the bars every night like I am when I holiday.
They said that the feeling subsides as they know it is there all the time & they are not time limited as they live there - were as when we go for holidays, it's like a marathon as we are time limited & the same delights don't exist back home.
Cheers
Good on you Eddie, looking forward to following your journey as an expat there. If you don't mind living in a studio there are some very cheap ones for 3,000-6,000 baht a month that aren't that much different or smaller than condos which cost at least double the price. Also outside the city centers one can find 2 BR townhouses for 8,000-12,000 baht a month but you may away from the action.
I never understand why anyone would live in a shitty apartment block to save 5k bht . All it does is make you want to be out your room as much as is possible where you will blow that money you save but hate your life . I would rather pay the extra have a decent pool and gym area where i can relax and enjoy my life
@@johnshores4745 I suppose it depends on the person. My last trip I lived in two different places. One quite nice that was 12k baht a month, 1 BR with a beautiful pool. The other was a 3k baht a month fan room with no AC. Other than one time when the ceiling fan broke in the middle of hot season (and the cause of why I moved into the more expensive place) I can’t say that I didn’t enjoy my time in the fan room.
@@johnshores4745 He stayed in a shole for donations.
@@tonyfoo9523 actually it was a nice place with good people, clean and lots of character not a “s hole”. The big apartment I stayed at was somewhat sterile and quiet, too quiet. I don’t have a mindset to manipulate my audience for super chats as you implied and anyways my livestreams were from outside, not from my room
Good to hear from you. Thanks for your info

Hi Eddy. Dave living in Hawaii here. Get the heck out of UK as soon as possible. Do expat tours for 20 pounds in Thailand; teach English. Whatever.

Just off subject a little - youre looking grand, ehat diet plan are you following? Slimming World?? Sorry if youve mentioned it in previous posts!!
I'm not drinking all that booze
It will all go boss-eye once you hit Pattaya.... Happy dayzzzz
Have budgeted for most of my extended trips. Never a problem. If you save some one day then more for the next. And so on. Do it Edd. No real issue.
Hi steady Eddie.
Another good test on your journey with/without alcohol.
Try on one day, say 5 bear in a bar, walk away happy saying enough is enough, happy man, on to other things new.
I saw a guy who looked just like you today, walking through Bury. I almost asked him is name 😅 Good luck Eddy
Stay safe S Eddy🤘
The only way you are going to be comfortable retiring is by acting your age and not that of a 20 yrs old.
So true
Acting your age.what does that even mean.though if you have to ACT your age then thats false anyway..do what you want to do regardless of age.
Im 94 years old and my thai wife is under half my age we go out to the disco 4 times a week i drink and smoke, she calls me my little rampant rabbit, you cant judge a book by its cover, talking of books, there is a book out called five go to pattaya. jolly good.
Age is man made being happy is frame of mind . The best advice is you only live once and life is very short .
You should tell that to the majority of the Thai people that are over drinking age, nothing they like more than a good party with a constant flow of beer, whiskey and ice.
Dont forget of course to factor in on going visa costs, flights, health insurance, emergency fund, inflation. Also if you can try keep a UK residential address somehow, and dont tell your GP your leaving. As a long term expat myself I know only too well, once you lose your residency, its goodbye to using the NHS, unless you return and wait 3 months + to be reinstated.
Eddie on the month off your body will repair and your energy levels will increase for your fun month.
Also you will never get bored as you will look foreward to your fun month and even be productive on your month off. It's a case of winner winner Chicken Dinner Eddie.
This seems to be a good idea
Good choice Pattaya for first stop , Maybe you could go to Philippines Subic area Barrio Barretto I remember prices there from last time Cheap Charlies was 60 peso BarCelona was 50 peso and Sit And Bull annex 40 peso when happy hour 4-7 . Sit And Bull main Restaurant was very good food , I remember seeing monthly prices there not far from the beach was very very cheap
Sounds great 👍
I've always been to Asia edd and seem to spend £100 a day in England £20 I'm definitely 😁 watching you how you do it
And that's play safe
Good idea 👍 I'll go out 3 days stay in 5 days you can't party all the time but you might get the blues missing home
I'm going to have a crack watching you guys and learning I'm only 50
Bordem seems to be the problem
Love one month ON, and next month Siesta…. That’s my style, great idea Steady Eddie
100% right mate!
Hi Eddy..! So I’m guessing you’re planning on having around 1200 British Pounds 💷 like a monthly budget. Perhaps your thoughts are a bit Extreme. I mean you could go out and have fun maybe twice or three times a week. The rest of the days just chill out , relax and look after yourself. DAZ from Everything Pattaya have few very interesting Videos talking about budgeting stuff. His monthly budget in the last Video was less than 40.000 Thai baht monthly. I think is a very fascinating topic 😊. Looking forward to seeing more stuff regarding this issue. Enjoy your weekend Mate.
Rant Ming a house is cheaper than stay in hotel. Some part in the city only cost around 150$ per mount. If the location is not in the in a business area like near market or big road.
Ed. Are you selling up everything here in the Uk? What if you need to come back?
Your exactly right Eddy. I was just in Hua Hin and spent 30K in five days. Back in my village 20 or 25K a month. House is paid and car paid mind you.
A drinking man living in Pattaya is like a kid living in a sweet shop and being told to keep their hands off the sweets
Not if you know your limitations and ave the willpower you will be fine.
I've lived on $1k USD per month, but in The Philippines, Chiang Mai and on Pattaya Dark Side. I wasn't trying to save money, some times I just didn't want to hit the bars and enjoyed staying home. I became tired of eating every meal in a restaurant, so I started cooking and discovered I liked it- and that really saved me money, 555. I'm older now and want more luxuries, so my budget is $2k, which works for me.
STEADY EDDY …..Get over there ..I just got back…. LOVE IT❤🎉🎉
Brilliant video as ever Eddie, it’s going to be fascinating following your journey over the next few months and years… wish you nothing but the best of luck.
Couple of observations/ thoughts from me:
1) Living frugally as you alluded to, this for me is the number one thing , to have a successful retirement it’s key to wether it works out or not, I retired 3 years ago aged 54 and what I survive on cash wise month to month would scare the crap out of a lot of people but I don’t feel like I’m going without and I travel a lot these days - treat cheap living like a sport and find the fun in it.
2) Keep your costs back home In Blighty to a bare minimum- I may have missed you talking about it in your previous videos but I don’t recall you saying what you’re doing with your house?… don’t want to pry but if you’re not selling it then renting it out makes sense…. I’m sure you have this aspect covered.
All these best of luck, I am sure you’ll do just fine…. The fact that you’re taking this leap of faith at this time of your life suggests you’re already winning at life.
Thanks, Dave
if he owns the house and renting it out he should take a rentalcompany in the arm to overview the renting and maintanance as hes overseas things can go verry wrong verry fast , the home could be used to grow weed , the renters could tear the place apart leaving without paying rent and making the home unsuitable to rent out to others , with him more than 12 hours and a 3000 euro last minute planeticket away to be able to do sumting about it , the rental company is closer and has more legal type support making sure the rent gets payed and the renters behave themselves , they allso pay the taxes over the income out of the rent and transfer the rent to the propper bankaccount
Exactly this. The person who can live frugally without feeling deprived is the luckiest person. But also the target of jibes like "Cheap Charlie" from those who are clueless as to the true value of money, and throw away a fortune unnecessarily through their extravagance. Guess who's more likely to crash and burn and have to head home with their tail between their legs...
