    I would like to point out that the motor torque is only dependant on the current you pump into the motor. Boosting the voltage will allow you to achieve the same power level with lower current only if you are ok with sacrificing max torque. Also there is no benefit in running a 36v motor at higher voltage. Only way that motor could generate more power is at motor speed above its rated speed. Of course a 36v rated Motor will draw more current than a 48v rated Motor when generating the same torque at the same speed. Due to the lower current 48v motor will be more efficient as well.

    Hi there, is this firmware working on the new TSDZ2B Tongsheng motor?

    Can you do a step by step video of how to use latest OSF compatible with VLCD5? I'm looking for help all over and nobody is willing, they just say, "read this", and some of it just doesn't make sense to me. I'm stuck.

    • @jbalatutube
      @jbalatutube  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry I use the KTLCD3 and that is what I recommend. You can watch my videos on how to flash the motor and that will give you some idea of what is going on but with the vlcd5 you download a Java app and make your settings then just press flash. It is very easy. Only the motor is flashed. Which bit are you stuck on ?

    With the addition of FOC, would you still recommend the 36v motor winding with a 48v battery? Or would it be better to use the higher turn count 48v motor with a 48v battery and increase the 90rpm limit with firmware?
    The higher turn count would have better efficiency at any given rpm. Meaning more torque, less heat, or less battery consumption.
    I remember you said you could reach 128+ with the 48v battery + firmware. Have you ever reached the RPM limit with this combination?

    • @jbalatutube
      @jbalatutube  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can’t comment on the 48v motor, I guess theoretically with more turns it should run cooler if you are climbing hills and have more torque. I have stopped monitoring my cadence but I can say I have never hit the cadence limit of the motor before I run out of steam.

    • @Tuber360904
      @Tuber360904 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very good to know, thank you. I’m starting to think the 48v motor could be a viable option for those who don’t mind a slightly lower rpm limit that’s still 100+.

    Im waiting for my tongsheng 500w notor with 850c display to arrive from China. Is the 850c display able to be updated with the osf?

    • @jbalatutube
      @jbalatutube  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can use the latest firmware from Casainho, the 860 display is the most stable but 850 will also work. I won’t be able to help since I’m still using the old ktlcd3 display so please join up with the forum for more info.

      @@jbalatutube Yup..saw that. It doesn't specifically address the coaster brake models. However, I have subsequently seen that the 36v coaster brake model has its own set of files, so I suspect the voltage can't be changed.

    what if want to keep my stock display? sometimes my bike cuts off and wont power... it only goes 15MPH/24KPH also. My Sons Aotema Schwinn Trike goes 25MPH+ My Son blows my wheels off... See forum right?

    • @jbalatutube
      @jbalatutube  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Marco on the ES forum has a version which works with stock displays, you basically need to set all your parameters manually and then flash the firmware to the motor. If you are losing power then check wiring to your battery or your bms. hold down the power and i button when you switch on to get to the hidden menu and turn off the 25km limit at your own risk

      @@jbalatutube thanks pretty sure the wires are good, they look plugged all the way into BMS, im using a twist throttle also - all bought from Eco. They set me up great, good people very responsive. Im pretty new to this and have some studying to do. I just need the bike to carry its own weight...and mine.

    Did you try using the voltage booster on the open source firmware? Is there any benefit for higher cadence or higher motor power output from the tsdz2?

      Sorry David for taking so long, no need to go extra voltage I can get to 120 cadence using field weakening in the opensource firmware. You should join in with the forum for more info

    Hi JB, thank you for your intersting content! :) Could you please tell me and your other subscribers what is the best / stable / reliable version of the TSDZ2 Open Source Software by Casainho. Which display to use? I have already converted a MTB to E-Bike using TSDZ2 and the result is impressive. I have not done any mods yet. Now I am working on a new project with the same engine. This time I want to change the firmware. Could you please answer my question or shoot a YT video about the topic. I will really appreciate it. Thanks!

    • @jbalatutube
      @jbalatutube  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Adam Boryniec I’m using version 20beta1 with the lcd3 display this has been really reliable for me but it does not contain the latest Casainho field weakening code which I want so badly to try. Unfortunately I can’t comment on the latest versions since they support sw102, 850c and 860c only. From what I read on the forums the latest version of this firmware still has some minor issues especially with the sw102 but I’m sorry I really need to buy one of these new displays to try it. I know he has done a lot of work with the 860c and now there is also a version which runs on your phone and one that can run on Garmin. It’s hard to say since Casainho always loves to try new things so things like dropping support for the ktlcd3 display is very upsetting for many early adopters. If you haven’t purchased anything yet then the 860c is the best choice unless you want to use your phone or Garmin.

      @@jbalatutube Hi John, thank you very much for your helpful answer. I will try the newest version with the 860c display then. I have already the 750w motor, and now ordering the display and the brake sensors. I hope I'll manage to update the firmware by myself. The only thing I am worried about is the PAD sensor calibration. Thanks once again John!

    I've been following along and wondering if I should go ahead and purchase the 52v TSDZ2 or save some money and get the older version if I'm going to be doing the mods you are doing anyway?

    • @jbalatutube
      @jbalatutube  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the late reply, post on the forum to get a quicker response but yes the 48 and 52 are the same so if you can get the 48 cheaper then buy that one instead. Always better to run the 52v battery so you can run lower amps even with the 36v motor
