Another great review Mike. You might have covered it in another vid but when switching any Joe head it helps to blow dry the neck with a hair-dryer til' it's more pliable.I had a few Joe's with pin holes in the body.Kids liked to poke holes in Joe back in the 60s. I keep a small bag with Joe shavings.Had a hard head Joe who's head was broken open so I shaved multiple plastic slivers off his neck. I put a small drop of gel glue, insert the sliver into the body, & gently sand it. No more pin hole!
Hello and thank you for this informative video. I have recently purchased 2 G.I. Joe's (1975 version) from a local flea market and need to temporarily remove their feet. Can you please tell me how to do it without destroying the pins? Thank you.
popescu elena. The 1975 Joes with the exception of Atomic Man were called Life Like Joes they were made completely different than the early Joes I have here. The LL 1975 -76 the feet are attached with a type of rubber band the feet are attached to up through leg sections, you will have to be split apart to replace, (not suggested). I usually just swap out with a better lower section of a donor Joe. The upper body is much easier repair using elastic cords to thread through the arms or the rubber replacement kits that most likely you will have to split the limbs open to repair. If you are meaning earlier style Joes 64 to 74 that used pegs.I usually just pull the feet straight out not to put a bind on the pin or try a bit of oil to help. I’ve also have pulled out the calf from the thigh and used a rod from the top of the knee to push the foot out.
Thank you for the detailed explanation and the prompt reply. I have actually come across the joe's by mistake, not knowing how valuable and rare they might be (never seen others in my country, and I might be wrong about the year)... The feet are perfectly functional for both of them, I just need to fit custom armor pieces on their lower legs, and it can't get over the foot... I was thinking of replacing the ankle rivets as a potentially safer alternative. What type of rivets are used? I've posted some pictures here: imgur.com/a/QbisCF5
Hi Mike, So are the commons and talkers strung together the same way from the waist down ? I have a talker that is in great shape but is very loose from the waist down . Any Suggestions or videos that cover that area ?
The4thstooge the talkers are different instead of the leg bands running up to the neck post hook, it hooks to a post on the lower torso. If the legs are loose it’s easier to zip tie the top of the leg band down about a 1/2 inch fold the excess down over the torso post also so it doesn’t interfere with the talk box. The arms and head have sleeves that just fit into the torso. I will try to make a video on this ASAP thanks
@@inspector6262GIJoes ...ok I think I get what you are saying but I will wait for the video before doing anything . I dont want to snap or break the post in the upper legs or lower torso . Thanks Mike
Have you ever tried gluing or repairing cracked limbs? Almost all my 1964 figures have at least 1 stress fracture and I hate to start replacing all these for a simple crack. Thanks
I Don’t normally replace cracked parts unless it is no longer fictional or I just have a lot of spare parts on hand. Cracks are very common in the 60s Joes and excepted with collectors. I have tried a variety of glues for this type of plastic with no luck, once you put stress on it from the peg the glue will fail every time. Some buy special plastic welders that will heat melt cracks together. I rather replace the failed part.
Blaze 25 if I understand your q correctly, you will need to use a small punch on the flair part of the rivet and lightly tap it out with a hammer. Replace the broken part then the rivet and re flair the end of it.
British action men did and still do have the scar on their face. the 60's ones looked exactly the same as GI joes. They were made on license by palitoy in the UK
VintageTalkers 67 to 74 are strung only from the legs to the lower torso. You can not string the head or arms due to the voice box is in the way. They are only held in place by the plactic sleeves attached the neck and arms.
I have 2 of the 40th anniversary Joes from Hasbro. They're my favorites, but both their left elbows have snapped off, and Hasbro, being its usual useless self, won't send me any replacements. Do you have suggestions or links for repair/replacement?
I have not got my first 1960’s one so can you please tell me what prices are good for what condition and what not, I’ve got a reproduction soldiers of the world Australian missing the Victoria cross and has a broken finger
I love you show me how you bring those Real True War Hero Marines from America back to life to defend people's lifes around the world while fight against the army forces of evil still in sighted that almost kill everyone and destoys almost everything in there way.🇺🇸🪖🎖💪👊🔫💣🚀💥☠️🤩🥰
@Humberto, Email this guy in the USA, apbjoe1@yahoo.com I have him repair the ones, I cant fix. He does great work. Ask him if he could help you? Thanks Mike
Any suggestions on substituting in a missing hollow rivet from the old crash suit hood? They seem to sell tiny rivets in China online, which is a long way to go for one rivet. I have another damaged hood I could salvage a rivet, but of course they're already used. i.imgur.com/Odq7ljC.jpg
I love gi joes

what do you use on the talking joes to slow the speed down?
shwank1968 replace the felt pads with slightly thicker ones, that should help.
How do take of the thigh if the screw which connects to the leg snaps

You have me there? I have a number of them and I think this is the only one that has this stamp.
You are THE authority on this stuff. Are you using a GoPro to film this?
would like to know how to repair a 1975 action man broken head
When I was a boy, I preferred the the painted head Joe's. The arm pegs would break. I be very sad. I wish they were made of titanium.
Can you please tell me the title of the book again? I can't find my original post. And the email I got with the title got deleted.
