This guy is amazing at balancing his weight(+ the weight of jetpack). The landing from hovering was very gentle. And the takeoff is also well controlled. This video is very inspirational.
_edit: RIP, Vince Reffet. Such an amazing athlete losing his life in training is quite sad. He has inspired many, but his story is not just about inspiration but also about being careful and always knowing that an accidental death can happen even to one of the best at the sport._

@@jimbax1 Bruh it's not controlled remotely. They mean first time being controlled "from the ground" as in from VTOL takeoff up to altitude...that's what the entire demonstration is about. These wings are only controlled with subtle body movements the same way traditional wingsuits are. You can read the detailed report on the Jetman website or just do some research on who Vince is and the history of this project. Some engineer checking the wing on the ground doesn't mean its controlled like a drone. XD

Imagine a larger carbon fiber hang glider like wing & suit that can glide in & land upon engine/turbine failure. With fuel tank & single jet engine. That can cruise at around 120mph. With 200+ mile range if possible. The pilot takes off by powering the thrusters & doing a running lift off, similar to a hang glider. Upon landing the pilot can quickly get in & out of the suit & fly back home.

dusshan1 I don’t think it would be possible for highly intelligent individual like me to get bored.
There is an infinite amount of knowledge to learn and discover still for humanity.
Take me for example 20 years ago I didn’t know how to read or write, I was basically an ignorant guy kid.
But in the year 2000 I decided to change that, so I spent $1,200 on a computer.
I used it to learn how to read and write, once I learned how to read I started studying mathematics, physics, history, philosophy, and computer science and much much more subjects.
I now know more in some subjects, than the great majority of so-called professors from the best universities like Stanford or MIT.
For many years I studied for 6 to 8 hours per day, and I am also an artist I can draw just as good as Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni or Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino.
And I can tell you I truly understand the words of Isaac Newton whe he said “” I do not know what I may appear to the world; but to myself I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the seashore, and diverting myself in now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me.””
So I am sure It would be absolutely impossible for me to get bored.
Hopefully gerontologist may have some success soon so we can keep on enjoy playing like Newton.
Who ever you are best wishes and regards 🙂

I'm pretty sure they could do the landing just fine but its fuel that becomes the issue. That takeoff burned a lot and probably didn't have enough to come back down, slow down, and land. The flying thing isn't the hard part, its the energy source. We can have iron man like the movies today if we had a miniature nuclear reactor to power the suit, but alas we're not there yet.

@@wopwops0482 You never want to intentionally stall, but since their thrusters are completely fixed, the only way to land would be to go vertical and dial back the power slowly to start a descent. Ideally you'd want to have pivoting thrusters that can act as brakes as that is more predictable than relying on gravity. There's definitely a lot of variables to consider if going for a landing with these things.
