    USA Indoor Championships Men's 400m Final
    Matthew Boling delivered an impressive performance in the men's 400m final at the 2024 USATF Indoor Championships. During the preliminary round, Boling demonstrated his speed and skill, qualifying with a time of 45.86 seconds, securing his spot in the final. But in the finals, Boling went out too fast for the first 200m and did not have enough strength to make it home in the top 2.
    Witness the adrenaline-fueled clash of speed and determination in the men's 400m final at the USA Indoor Championships, setting the stage for an electrifying showdown at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow. Brian Faust of Garden State TC emerges victorious, etching his name in glory with a scintillating personal best (PB) time of 45.47 seconds, showcasing raw speed and unwavering resolve.

    This was a case of poor execution on Boling and Patterson’s part. They exhausted themselves battling for the pole position while a weaker Faust stayed back running relaxed and waited til the last 100 meters

    • @dennisrobinson8008
      @dennisrobinson8008 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Boling did not want to allow Patterson in front of him at the break. He was successful in that, but it pushed a pace too fast for either of them to finish. Perhaps next year Boling will be able to start out like that and finish with strength.

      Boling's 1st split was 20.96, outstanding BUT hit the wall at about 40 or 50 meters and dropped to25.23 in 2nd split if he could balance out his two 200s indoor he could do much better time in finishing

    • @dennisrobinson8008
      @dennisrobinson8008 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He could also get stronger. We watched his team mate "Elijah Godwin" do the same thing for about 18 months straight and finally he broke thru the wall as his strength had built up and he was able to finish the race properly. I don't think the faster guy allowing the lead on the break is a good idea. Maybe the stamina guy could allow that, but he did right. Eventually he will be stronger to do that 20.9 or 21.0 open and a high 23 or low 24 for the 2nd half. @@cypickering553

      We were going back to freshman and sophomore year for godwin, when he was 46 seconds mid indoors. He would do this incredible run to 300m and die like no one else. He woul be crawling after he died. We all loved him though. In his Jr year he finally broke thru and was finishing much better, but he ran his head into a wall for 18 months or so straight dying out with a big weight on his back. Godwin put together a great outdoor run for the Olympic trials where he was able to finish the race decently and made a time in the 44 seconds range.@@qsboyz319_

      Either you haven't paid attention and/or done your research or you are dyslexic.
      Here is what he has done after high school:
      "After winning the 100m and 200m at the USA U20 Championships, Boling turned the double at the 2019 Pan American U20 Athletics Championships in San José, Costa Rica. Both times (10.11 and 20.31, respectively) were personal bests, and his 100m time of 10.11 was also a championship record. He then ran the 4th and 2nd legs for the USA's 4 × 100 m and 4 × 400 m teams, respectively, both setting World U20 records. For his performances, Gatorade awarded Boling its National Boys Track & Field Player of the Year honors for 2018-19,[15] and he was named the 2019 High School Boys Athlete Of The Year by Track & Field News.[16]
      Collegiate career
      2020
      Before his first season at Georgia was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, Boling attempted the 60m, 200m, Long Jump and the 4 × 400 m indoors.[17] At the SEC Indoor Championships, Boling finished second overall in the 200m with 20.71 seconds, losing to Terrance Laird of LSU from the first section.[18]
      Returning to track, Boling again tried each event and chose to focus on the 200m for the indoor season. At the SEC Championships, he was disqualified in the final for stepping out of his lane on the final turn, and Laird took the title. However, because he ranked high enough by running 20.37 in his preliminary, he qualified for his first NCAA Indoor Championships, where he would win the 200m indoor NCAA national title. Boling clocked a 20.19,[19] the joint-sixth fastest time in history.
      Laird and Boling's rivalry was set to grow in the outdoor season with the addition of the 100m and 4 × 100 m. At the SEC Outdoor Championships, Laird won the 100m/200m double, while Boling finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively. His time of 20.06 seconds was a personal best in the 200m. Boling ran the anchor for Georgia's 4 × 100 m, with a slight lead but was caught by Laird and finished 2nd. At the NCAA Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, Boling finished 6th and 5th in the 100m and 200m, respectively. Boling was considered a Freshman in 2021 by many, due to COVID-19 causing a short season his Freshman year.[citation needed]
      Boling stayed in Eugene for the US Olympic Trials, where he finished 14th overall in the 100m semis and 9th overall in the 200m semis, bringing his first complete College season and first Olympic tryout to an end.[citation needed]
      2022
      At the 2022 SEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Boling placed 4th in the 100m in a time of 10.13 and won the 200m with the time of 20.01.
      At the 2022 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Boling placed 6th in the 100m with a time of 10.18 and finished 2nd in the 200m in a time of 20.13.
      At the World Championships in Budapest Boling won two gold medals - one on the US 4 X 400m Mixed Relay Team and the other on the Men's 4 X 400m Relay Team.

      Dude. He’s with an Olympic coach now. You guys can’t use that excuse for him anymore.

      It’s not going to matter how good his coaches are because he’s now running an event that doesn’t completely suit him.
      He should be running the 100. That’s where he was best in HS. But his coaches could only see him as a future quarter-miler… for a certain obvious reason…. So he got pushed down the wrong road, and now his talent is being wasted.

      I actually think 200m is his event. If you notice the way he runs, he usually finishes strong in intremediate tracks(200m)The 200m allows him to build up momentum--open up his speed & either closes well or finishes strong. The 100m is too quick a track for him to build up his momentum & race to his strengths. @@jameshegeman5660

      He was a little short on stamina and he went out too fast. Funny all those people that accuse people of liking him because he's supposedly "The Great White Hope" are not wondering why his fans do not jump ship to support Faust. Well Faust is "white" too isn't he?

      @@jameshegeman5660that’s not quite true. Boling is perfect to excel in the 100, 200 and 400. He has the raw talent to be competitive. He simply needs someone to break through that poor running form, teach him about foot strike and most importantly, relaxation. He is tense from the gun, shoulders up and expending more energy than everyone. He hasn’t learned the art of running free, yet intentionally powerful!

    You guys are cursing these so-called "great white hypes." Mathew Boling, Abbey Steiner. Every time these people are propped up as the next great thing. They always end up crashing out.

    *Shocking...... NOT!!!!* Matt is not a great open 400m runner. He is good on relays, but that's just it. Matt was 69 in the worlds and 23 in the USA last year. That's not good enough to even prove why he deserves a spot on relays either, GWH, he gets a petty spot because of his skin, if we keep it real. It's not a deserved or earned spot.

    Will say it again ...boling is not a quarter miler....he is a 200 /100 guy ....always has been ..he is just too pale ..

      Exactly. I can’t believe that he ran the fastest 100m time in all conditions in HS and then as soon as he got to college he was being pushed up in distance… for… reasons…

      Not a top tier 100 or 200 guy either. I think decathlon is his best bet.

      He was ranked 23 in the 100m last year, that's just in us. He was ranked 69 in the world, those positions don't make you a great 100m runner.

      Boling is not making a US team in the 100 or 200. He doesn't have the foot speed. He has the tools to be an outstanding quarter miles. I think he has more talent than anyone in this field besides maybe Patterson. Give him a little time for that quarter mile training to work. He's in the right event.

      @jameshegeman5660 but he didn't. He only ran the quarter on relays. He made the final of multiple NCAA 100 and 200 meter championships. He even has a title in the 200.
