Dr. Anthony Herbert died June 7th 2014 at the age of 84 of cancer in Florence, Colorado. He was married to Mary Grace for 61 yrs and had one daughter and 2 grandchildren and is buried at Arlington National Cemetary. God Bless America and God Bless all our military veterans.
This man was a great American and Soldier. I have 2 of his books that I read as a young Soldier; "Soldier" and "The Soldier's Handbook". They both had a big positive impact on my life. He will be sorely missed.
Mary Grace Natalie Herbert passed in 2018.She was the epitome of her name. A wonderful person who was a fantastic cook. The world is a lesser place without her.
In the wake of the controversy surrounding the infamous My Lai Massacre incident, Korean war hero LTC Herbert claimed to have witnessed a number of war crimes in Vietnam, which he reported to his superiors but which they allegedly refused to curb or discipline. Herbert pressed charges against his commanding officers for their intransigence. Herbert had reported eight separate war crimes, including incidents of looting, execution and murder. In one episode involving some Vietnamese girls Herbert stated, "The area was brilliantly lit by floodlights ... Each of them [the girls] was seated with their hands on a table, palms down." Herbert described the instruments used as a "long springy rod of bamboo split into dozens of tight, thin flails on one end. It was a murderous weapon," he said. "I'd seen it take the hide off a buffalo. When it was struck down hard, the flails splayed out like a fan, but an instant after impact they returned to their order, pinching whatever was beneath." According to LTC Herbert, "War crimes are infinitely easier to overlook than to explain to an investigating committee. Nor do they do much for promotion among the 'West Point Protection Society' of the U.S. Army's upper-echelon career men. So when I kept bringing up the matter, I kept on making enemies and getting answers such as," 'What the hell did you expect, Herbert, Candy and flowers?' I reported these things and nothing happened." LTC Herbert was accused of exaggeration and outright lying in his filed reports. In April 1969 he was relieved of his command of the Second Battalion, despite its outstanding record under his leadership. "I know now it wasn't just the Army," Herbert says. "It was Commanding General Westmorland in particular. He did everything he possibly could to keep my case covered up because of the heat being placed on the Army from the My Lai case." - *RIP LTC Anthony Herbert, a true American Hero, in all respects.*
We all cried Boo-Hoo, at the 3000+ killed on 9-11, & the 2400 killed at Pearl Harbor.....but what about the hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese killed in the unjust Vietnam war......or the murderous killing of 300K innocent men, women & children in the bombing of Hiroshima & Nagasaki.?...
Little did I know that when I bought the book written by Lt.Col Herbert that I would actually get to see he and his wife that he wrote about in the book: "Soldier". This was a real treat. He was a moral and decent Soldier with a conscience and a desire to stop wickedness in the world.
My son has joined the Marines, he's in the delayed entry and leaves Dec 13th for Paris Island. He's 20, I just showed him this hero, he was impressed and said how he hesitated and could tell he wasn't wanting to talk about it and want recognition, very humble. This guy is (or was) one hell of a soldier, or Marine. Funny my son said lot of this young generation doesn't even know when WW1,WW2 or Korean war was!! Unbelievable, modern history and don't know, only care about TIC TOC, video games and other nonsense.
These are some of the best clips on YT, can't stop watching these, some of these quests are amazing. What's more amazing as some of the comments by some the commenters.
I killed three with a bayonet, the fourth one stabbed me through the chest and it came out my back so I killed him with my rifle butt. Does anymore have to be said? Bad Ass!
Big Red AKA War Horse was a magnificent horse. Anthony and Mary Grace was a cute couple. Mr. Herbert and Audie Murphy were both very brave and well decorated war heroes.
Conquest to Nowhere appropriate title for the Korean Conflict - which, by the way, no country attacked the U.S., From Korea, the U.S. just could not stay away and decided to intervene in Vietnam, another Conquest to Nowhere.
I saw this episode just today on JLTV (Jewish Life TV) and was amazed at this young man, so I checked him out online and yes, he's the real thing in spite of CBS & others who tried to discredit his stories.
I'm good I just did my workout sitting back relaxing then jump in the shower and then do some reading and who knows after that probably sleep but it's too early right now
And that was a very personal story for Groucho too because he lost everything he ever saved in the space of forty eight hours. He was a inveterate skin flint except when it came to his daughter.
Arlene Dahl b.Aug 11, 1925 is now 94 and still alive! She's been married 6 times....yikes. Her son is Lorenzo Lamas. Lester Ryan's comp ins now Edward Jones. Wilshire & Hope in now the Wells Fargo Bank bldg.
Favorite bit of dialogue overheard in progress: Ed Gaffney ( _describing his love at first sight upon meeting his first wife while seating her as a church usher_ ): ... So I get her up in the balcony - Groucho: - this is what goes on _in church_ ?
For an apparent Groucho fan, Ed Gaffney seemed so serious. It looked as if he missed most of the jokes Groucho was trying to make or doesn't comprehend sarcasm.

I knew Anthony and Mary Grace every well. Two of the most amazing people I ever known. Their daughter is amazing.
They really did seem like lovely people so I'm not surprised.

+Ed Martinez Hear! Hear!
Agree with you ED

It sounds like 60 minutes isn't any better now then it was then. The press should be held accountable for their lies.

@@LiamBlackbird No lot of young America today know nothing about WW2 Not even Vietnam they call this ancient history like Egypt 4000 year's ago!
EXCELLENT ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
True American Hero,And Very Humble.
Yeah, Anne Katz was amazing.
Mr. Herbert was a true American hero and so humble.
Marygrace was a wonderful lady. She appears shy in this video, but is one of the sweetest ladies I've ever met.
How many times are you going to post the same comment?

I salute you LtCol Herbert and your lovely wife. We could use more Americans like you.
Absolutely!!!
Unassuming, shy, This is a '50's trip. Later on he was a serious character when he went up against the Army for atrocities in Vietnam.
WikiLeaks confirmed the 60 minutes piece was a hit because of the effect on the war effort. Mike Wallace in high heels while Herbert wore the boots.
*Anne Katz was beautiful--both inside and out. I wish I knew more about her than the brief few minutes she spent on "You Best Your Life."*
*A TRULY FINE WOMAN!!*
👀

Sure was nice of the last male contestant to donate a large chunk of his winnings to the church, since he met the Love of His Life there, sweet!
Can't think a quiz show today they would have a contestant that would chat about the four men he killed.
How did this brilliantly entertaining program consistently manage to get so many beautiful contestants, like this young ‘Ingrid Bergman!’
Anthony herbert is great soldier.
He doesn’t look like a tough guy does he, I’ve been married to long. That was a classy comment to his wife.
This man was a great man. Tough s o b. Hats off to great men like him.

Oh i did not know that war horse mentioned that!

When they invent the time machine, I’m going back to marry Anne Katz!!!

What an Amazing Young Man!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🏻😎👼🙏🏻
Who knows Betty MacAnally? She seems like a lot of fun!
Ward, Colorado. What a place. Not surprising the guy's a little fresh.
Didn't anyone win the Congressional Medal of Honor? One of those is worth more than anything. Mr,. Herbert should have won one for what he did.
Bald guy had great stage presence and assertiveness.

E W- We have something to show for our involvement there, namely South Korea, one of the most prosperous countries in Asia.
William Anthony no point arguing with idiocy.
Very true, on both counts -- but it was essential we oppose Communist militarism and conquest on the world stage, tragically at great cost in lives.
@@williamanthony9090 Well, Vietnam didn't turn out so well for both countries. Read history. I lived it.

Killed a man with a rifle butt. Jesus. When's the last time you heard that on television?
Oh dear what was that about margin lending at 4:45 Can't be done again eh? Hmmmm.
Groucho lost his shirt in the 1929 stock market crash!
And that was a very personal story for Groucho too because he lost everything he ever saved in the space of forty eight hours. He was a inveterate skin flint except when it came to his daughter.
Does anyone have episode #55-03? I believe my mother in law was on this episode.
And you want to see it?lamo
