It’s kind of poetic in a sense, no matter which genuine version of Superman may be evil, he’s always able to redeem himself, he’s always perpetually good, or at least well intentioned.

Murdered Teen Titans, Beat Earth 1 Superman to death (Pushing Kal-L and Kal-EL to the limit as a boy still), killed Green/Yellow Lanterns, took out the anti monitor, became the Time Trapper, exposed Sodam Yat to Lead, lets say his resume is nothing to sneeze at. He also just had a one-shot and The Batman who laughs didn't even want him around"

@@fidelgarcia2224 but in most versions of the story he learns that from the Kents, he didn't understand the concept of good and evil when he left Krypton as he was to young. So there wasn't anything to "wash".

Injustice Superman also gets a yellow ring. He is exposed as a villain when he is caught live on camera killing heroes. This backfired though because it made the entire planet fear him and basically made him the strongest lantern.
That was just bad writing. Ganthet's attack had no effect on Superman, he easily took down a guardian and throw Mogo with Ganthet into the sun. He can't do that not even with all the fear on Earth.

Injustice Superman was the Joker's ultimate victory of his philosophy, one bad day.
So basically when Superman is good, he's a shining beacon to all life that deep down we can all be better.
But when Superman is bad, he's a prime example that deep down the choice for evil is rather easy when you give in.

It is just a comic. If it wasnt, then bad evil Superman would be a pedophile that made pedophile robots to guard his Fortress of Pedophilia.
And these are just the actual canon versions. There's plenty of examples beyond DC, like Homelander (The Boys), Omni-Man (Invincible), The Plutonian (Irredeemable), and the kid from Brightburn.
Plus the only version of evil superman from the Dark multi verse they used was one killed by doomsday batman.
There are others as well although I don't know if any of them got the same level of backstory since the whole Dark multi verse was mostly focused on Batman.
Irredeemables ending was class with how they tied in the homage to supes.
@@metazoxan2 There were three I saw in Batman Metal when they were holding Batman hostage. One where Superman had on Lex Luthor's Battlesuit. One where Superman killed the Batman of his timeline to take on his role, and some blue one with cosmic powers.
The Kents really are the true heroes of Superman.

Read dark Knights metal, or if nothing else the one shots of the origins of all the evil Batman versions of the justice league. Red death replaces the flash, murder machine replaces cyborg, the drowned replaces aquaman, the merciless replaces Wonder Woman, the dawnbreaker replaces green lantern, devastator replaces Superman and the Batman who laughs replaces Batman. They’re all led by barbatos or something. The actual storyline honestly was too much for me to follow, I didn’t really understand the whole thing but I was younger and read less comics than I have now, so I’ll give it another shot and hopefully make more sense of it but it’s still really good. The origins of all the evil Batman versions are so freaking, well, metal.

I am very surprised that the Justice Lord Superman from the DCAU Justice League animated series wasn't included especially as he fried president Lex Luthor and lobotomized Doomsday with his heat vision, overall a great list of all the evil versions of Superman

Because he's basically the same as "Injustice" superman.
They were trying to give a variety of evil Superman rather than all of them being "Superman if he decided to stop playing nice".
Yeah, instead they listed Supermen that weren't even evil, simply different universes he landed somewhere else. That's not evil!!
Crazy how much weight is thrown at Superman's regime in the comics that it's able to withstand and survive before it's taken down. Fully weight of the Green Lantern Corps. Olympic mythological gods. Stuff way more powerful than the Earth one Justice League that eventually took him down. It can kind of make the actual ending feel anticlimactic. But the narrative of evil heroes being beaten by the heroes they once were is pretty much the perfect way to end that story even if it did feel a little small scale in comparison to previous threats to the regime.
I'd say the comic storyline is better than the game that inspired it, and the game's storyline was pretty damn good.

Batman beat Superman every year but then some idiotic thing came to mess it up. I was most mad at the dream thing not working, ragman not working, and Wonder Woman not killing Superman because none of those scenarios had any way for Superman to escape. Similar to red son when Superman only escaped because of Wonder Woman and made an enemy of her in the process

One of Superman's Marvel copy is called Hyperion. An evil version of him, known as "King Hyperion" decided to take over the world. He killed everyone who opposed him. It didn't matter if they come alone or in groups. The X-Men, Avengers, Thor, Hercules, Galactus... all died. With their heroes dead, and their armies decimated, the humans of Earth refused to yield. They choose death over slavery and destroyed the surface of the planet with a massive nuclear barrage.
Ironically, the attack killed everything on the planet, save for Hyperion himself, who became the god-emperor... of a radioactive dustball.

The high counsel Superman is probably the best example of this, considering how he murdered people, such as Shazam, Black Canary, and Green Arrow (just the first three that come to mind, though there are more), and then joining the yellow lanterns, making him partially responsible for the death of Guy Gardener, and forcing everyone to do exactly as he sees fit. He of course reveals Batman's identity, is responsible for the death of billions (hi Mogo), and manipulated people into helping him with his regime. The storyline is so hooking and I love it. 10/10 on the reason as to why he snapped aswell, with Lois and his unborn child dying at his own hands. The death of Joker was a shocker, and Harley Quinn's redemption seemed impossible until it happened. The Injustice storyline is, in my opinion, the most hooking alternate universe in DC history. 5 stars.

The evil superman trope isn’t just becoming tired it’s also eroding what is really wonderful about Superman. Also it suggests that there are almost more versions of Superman in the multi-verse as a bad guy then there are that he’s good… Which suggests statistically that superman is just one Lois Lane death away from being evil…Honestly that’s just bad for the brand
to be fair to the writers, when you have such a powerful character it is hard to do much other than have him deal with morality since there are only so many ways you can write him almost losing.

It's always just so awesome seeing everyone else beaten down and then you see the S and it fills you with this hopefulness and reinvigorates the fight for the heros. That's my opinion anyway

@@bearjuncture agreed and honestly it just drives me insane that we haven't gotten at least a Superman family animated movie with my boy Jonathan Samuel Kent superboy learning from his dad clark kent superman and Lois lane how to be a great hero because there's so much story potential to see that actually get adapted into a animated movie at least in my opinion.

They've probably reconned all aspects of "Crisis On Infinite Earths", but in the very 1st issue, Ultraman & the Crime Syndicate actually have a redemption arc. A very short one & probably not even completely altruistic, but it's there.
As their Earth/universe is obliterated by the Anti-Monitor, the Syndicate actually teams up w/the heroic Luther to save it all. They don't, but they gave it their all. Even as Ultraman, Kal cannot resist playing hero, going so far to stop the expanding antimatter blastwave, though he knows he will die regardless. Great guy!...🤩
The real evil is that Superboy Prime isn't included in this list.

Several of these Supermen aren't evil at all. In fact they're so incredibly good that they triumph over the indoctrination of Nazism, Communism, Darkseid, etc. and still bring peace and justice to their universes.
Because deep down Superman is good. He will stand up for life or a act of injustice. Superman is just too good.

The way I heard it, Evil Superman in Superman 3 was supposed to be Bizarro, but for some reason they changed direction.

Actually Superman was right at least in the initial parts of the Injustice. Superman- "I took one life to save millions" Batman- "All it takes is just one step and once the line is crossed, there's no going back" In a nutshell, it requires utmost self control and determination to fight for justice when you know you may have to take some expedient steps just for the greater good
The slippery slope arguement only works when there's no self control over such actions. saying "okay, if they kill as many people as the joker, they gotta die" is a pretty high bar.

I will admit that he his ways are completely unacceptable but the outcome of his rule only saved more lives. Plus he did bring ever lasting peace to our world. He did manage to defeat the greatest threats to the planet keeping our world safe eventhough it was through fear, we were safe under his rule. What can Batman do if Darkseid returns with his Invasion fleet? NOTHING. What can Superman do? EVERYTHING.

I think superman of the DC animated movie continuity that started with Flashpoint paradox and ended with JLDAW should be on this list given what his arrogance cost the justice league before the flash goes and causes another flashpoint.
So injustice wasn't the only continuity where Superman gained yellow lantern powers.

That last one I think one of the Justice League cartoons did a take on that. I think it was the Flash dying that caused it.
1- It wasn't the Joker, it was Batman used by Wonder Women that had Louis murdered. Before that comic version. Their's was another script wich Wonder Women needed Superman out of the picture to rule the Earth.
