I am an American in Budapest now. The city is lovely, the people are friendly, and I feel safer walking alone on the streets at night 100X more than I would in my home city.. I cannot think of one bad thing to say about Budapest. This may be my favorite city I have ever visited, and I have been to many across the world. I love you, Budapest!

@@samuelandaudrey I love your videos. But it's really bad that you only mentioned the "memorial" with shoes display next to the river but you didn't say what was the memorial for. Jews were tied together because the Nazis and their Hungarian collaborators didn't have enough bullets so they shot one and when he fell into the water he pulled everyone else to drown in the river.

Another interesting story: During the WW2 Budapest was sieged by the russians and heavily bombed by the americans while german troops were trying to hold the city with the local army...famous Messerschmidt me-109 fighter planes were manufactured underground in the catacombs of Buda hills and there was also a great military hospital which was underground because of the bombing raids. I think that cave system is also available for the tourists today.

The pasta is called nokedli, it often comes with all types of stew. It is a kind of pasta, you can not buy in shops, as a 19 year old Hungarian I am making it for myself as well.(but my grandmom's nokedli is the most delicious ofc) It is actually very easy to make. And what you were eating is actually the most most most typical Hungarian dish(also my favourite) called "pörkölt nokedlivel" Hope you had a good time here, I always enjoy watching foreigner's travel vlog in my home town:)

Brilliant video , I'm from the UK and went there last Autumn after being told to get booking for it by my daughter who had just returned from a girls trip there. Budapest is simply awesome and has so much for a small city and we have vowed to return to what is now one of my favourite cities in the world. It is up there with Vienna , Barcelona, Berlin etc. As you can see it's size and population belie it's attractive buildings, thermal baths etc .

I'm glad to be Hungarian, but sad at the same time, because I can't get amazed like you guys about Gulyás or the baths etc. :D
I've always wanted to know how Budapest look like from a tourists perspective. Thank you for this video, I hope you liked it here.
If you came back some day, you should visit more cities around the country.
Hungary is relatively small, so if you have like one week, you can visit most of them for an entire day. For example:
-Pécs: It was Europe's cultural capital. The city is in the Southwest region of the country. This city has so many faces and impacts from the history. You can find almost everything here. Even cheaper prices than Budapest, but not less attractions. Highly recommend.
-Sopron: Known as the most loyal Hungarian city. In the past they need to choose between Hungary or Austria. They chose Hungary.
Also a little "jewellery box" with a historic city centre. If you climb the tower in the middle of Sopron you can see everything. Worth to see. Also this is the home of VOLT festival.
-Szeged: Known as the most sunny city in the country, also the architecture here has so many faces like Pécs. It's in the South region of the country.
Of course there's lote more than this.
Even though it's a small country, but it has so many things to see and to do. You can't get bored here.
    David.

My wife and I really enjoy your videos. You seem to spend the right amount of time covering the important subjects but also seem to add information that isn't in all the other guides and videos. My wife especially likes the focus on the local food. We'll be in Hungary in a few weeks and this was helpful though I'm still not sure about the Labyrinth... We'll also be visiting Croatia and Cinque Terre, so hopefully you'll get a chance to visit and report on those areas sometime in the future.

Budapest is an amazing city, I really loved visiting this place, probably one of the best cities to visit in Europe :) I also made a video of my trip, a bit more cinematic I would say showing places like the Citadella, the Budapest castle, the Fisherman's bastion and the Chain bridge at night. I think what many people miss to see around Budapest sometimes is the beautiful Vajdahunyad Castle, we honestly didn't knew about it and ran into it by chance when we were at the Heroes Square :)

The pasta you're tasting is nokedli and youre right, its very similar to and even considered a type of spatzle. That dish youre tasting it with is most likely chicken paprikash..... Chicken chunks are a lot bigger than I would get from my grandma but maybe she was keeping the good stiff to herself!
