Oh my God, I love this song so much! I’m 53 years old and probably old enough to be your grandmother, but I grew up in an Italian family and this song was a staple in our house
Damn i grew up in the early 2000s surrounded by hip hop but this type of music damn I envy those of you who grew up around this. I guess Im a young man with an old soul as well.
As an old retired studio drummer it is awesome to see younger people enjoy excellent music. Sinatra was one of the best. But take a minute and think about all the musicians in the Big Band era. They were all accomplished musicians in their own right. Then they joined the band and rehearsed for many hours to get it just right and then played together effortlessly. Virtually all of them read music and dedicated their lives to making beautiful music. Thank you for reacting to these musical icons.
Young man, you make me wish I was 50 years younger! I love your open mindedness and appreciation for all genres. Now, as Sinatra and Sammy have been my idols since I was 7 years old, here's some info for you. The movement you imitated of shaking his fist he does when he sings "Luck Be A Lady". He is mimicking throwing a pair of dice. The song comes from the Broadway musical, "Guys and Dolls" which was made into an awesome movie with Frank playing the secondary part of Nathan Detroit. The lead character, Skye Masterson, is played by (interestingly enough) Marlon Brando, and it is this character who sings the song before he makes one roll of the dice for the 'souls' of the hoodlums at the dice game against $1,000 each. But in spite of the fact he doesn't sing it in the movie, the song basically belongs to Frank. It is a great musical that you would truly enjoy! Check it out.
I just discovered this wonderful young man yesterday ❤️❤️.. just love watching him discovering and recognizing and appreciating from all genres .. he gives me hope
Those 5 thumbs down either don't know music or know the history of this man. his willingness to fight for civil rights and the quiet way he donated to help people.
Frank Sinatra, also known as "Chairman of the Board", was the Elvis of the 40s Big Band era & developed into an even bigger star that commanded great respect by the end of the 50s after starring in From Here to Eternity also an amazing dancer ( Anchors Aweigh & On the Town ). I love his swagger ( & I'm referring to his singing style emulated by other stars of that time ( early 60s) such as Bobby Darrin, James Darren, & Johnny Tillotsen- all three definitely worth a listen & both Darrin & Darren were also great actors but the one who sounded the most like Sinatra was Bobby his rendition of Fly Me to the Moon is amazing!
Frank was the idol of many a teen girl in those days. They would sometimes "swoon" at his concerts, actually faint. That's the effect he had. My sister had a raincoat, a trench coat, that had his face printed all over the lining. How I wish we had kept it! I really enjoy watching your reactions to this wonderful old music.
It makes me so happy that your hearing some earlier stuff than "My Way" and "New York, New York" are iconic now, but the treasure trove goes way back. This makes you smile! Love his syncopation, phrasing! Thanks for sharing your reaction!
Crooners (my father was this type of singer in Hollywood in the 40s and 50s) were pretty fabulous. Welcome to the club! Love your generosity and your sweet smile!
YOU are my new playlist/mix-tape/station! Just going to listen to this channel from now on. You are an empathetic, 'old soul.' You feel all this. It's so cool. You would love to listen to live jazz up here in Chicago. :) Try "A Kiss to Build a Dream On" by Louis Armstrong.
Oh man ! Big Bad Voodoo Daddy! It’s a swing band with scat and insane band . Killer horns . If you ever get to attend these types of concerts -go ! Then? Besides hearing a live orchestra ? Go to a real symphony . Get all you can . But for now? The swagger of what was CRAZY is coming back . Big Band music is awesome . I thought I was too cool for it till I went . My grand father used to take ladies and swing them around his back and between his legs !!! Runs in the family .😎 My oldest played the “Zuit Suit” style here as a teen and people care to here her from all over . She was the last student in the state to win the Louis Armstrong award in 1999. Hasn’t been done since . Louis Armstrong your grandpa would know. I was hooked with “St.James Infirmary “. Louie Prima is another and ill bet you heard him and didn’t know it. “Jungle Book” -he sang the orangutans song “ I wanna be just like you “. You just opened two eras of music !
Your reaction shows that you dig real jazz swing music. Sinatra was the best at jazz swing. On this song he works with the great Count Basie band. It's good to see you exploring different styles of music.
OMG! Crying big ole snotty cry! My father used sing this to me all the time! He'd pick me up and dance! Then as I got older he taught me to dance to this!!! God I miss him!!!

There is a video, an hour long video, of the rat pack, Frank Sinatra Dean Martian and of course the great Sammy Davis Jr. now they came together in the 1950’s before the Martian Luther king stuff in 1960’s and you can tell in the hour long video, in like 1960’s you could see all three singers enjoying each other, making fun of each other, just like brothers
Can you also play songs from another gentleman of Sinatra's era the great Nat King Cole? Songs like Mona Lisa, Rambling Rose, Unforgettable, etc. He was also a great talent
Oh my God, I love this song so much! I’m 53 years old and probably old enough to be your grandmother, but I grew up in an Italian family and this song was a staple in our house
