- I planned to stay 10 days in the city, but I eventually stayed almost 3 weeks. This city totally grasped my heart with his life and its welcoming people! In this video, I'll take you around "La Candelaria", the original old colonial barrio where the city was founded in 1538! Lots of things to do and see, and lots of History around, so if you are planning your visit to the city give yourself plenty of time to get around and experience this complicated but wonderful place!

@@mariozaccaria1078 if you stay in the candelaria area everything will be fine, lots of tourists and police. I never felt unsafe. A bit different is the area of san Victorino, I went there but I wasn’t flashing any camera or mobile phone. It’s a very chaotic area, but I gain, didn’t feel unsafe. My accommodation was near Universidad Central, Calle 21 # carrera 5, and over there as well, no problems at all … I’m replying in English so everyone can get useful info :)

Seems you know a lot of bogota, yes, chicha can come in different flavors like pineaple, banana and maracuya and not only in Colombia. We have a saying, DON'T GIVE PAPAYA when walking out there.
Yeah I know that saying but to be honest I didn’t follow much the advice. Of course I’ve always been aware of my surroundings but without getting paranoid … it would have ruined my whole experience around the city …

La ventana por donde huyó Bolivar no es esa que mostrste, la verdadera se encuentra en la Quinta de Bolivar, a unas pocas cuadras de allí.

Los muiscas no fueron eliminados por los españoles, se mezclaron que es otra cosa. Toda la región cundiboyacense es mestiza indígena, español.
Lo que entendía es que como cultura desaparecieron, claramente hay desendencia de ellos como de todas las otras tribus indígenas….

A los estándares de hoy día lo que hicieron los españoles en su proceso colonizador no tiene otro nombre que eso. No por nada no hablamos las lenguas de los pueblos indígenas que se desarrollaron allí ni poseemos la mayor parte de sus costumbres o creencias.

Los españoles llegaron a un continente que no sabían que existía, buscaban abrir ruta comercial con la India y a medio camino se encontraron con lo desconocido. Hay mucha mentira acerca de la colonización que fue legal si hablamos de las leyes que regían al resto del mundo respecto de territorios conquistados. Por mandato de la reina Isabel la católica los indígenas debían ser respetados su manera de vivir, tanto así que en la inquisición los menos afectados fueron los indígenas a los que se les reconocía no ser creyentes cristianos. Los muiscas eran pasivos y no tenían una nación como tal constituida, eran semi nómadas y cada grupo tenía un jefe o cacique. No se resistieron a los españoles, los acogieron por lo que nunca existió una conquista a sangre y fuego, se dio de manera natural el mestizaje que hoy se identifica claramente en los rasgos físicos de los habitantes de Cundinamarca y Boyacá. No en Toda América sucedió lo mismo. En México los indígenas tlaxcaltecas, totonacas, cholultecas y otros pueblos mas, a unieron a Cortes desesperados por la crueldad de los aztecas. 40 mil corazones humanos al año sacrificados en rituales antropofágicos, crueldad y terror a diario. Cuando Cortes abandonó México los hijos de Moctezuma el emperador de los aztecas fueron encomendados especialmente por él mismo y llevados a España, donde fueron reconocido su linaje noble, fueron casados con la nobleza y otorgado títulos y beneficios de la nobleza como reconocimiento a su linaje. Hoy viven esos descendientes y sus títulos nobiliarios siguen vigentes. El idioma de los indígenas en lo que hoy es Colombia no tenía escritura era oral y por dinámica de la autoridad de la corona, el uso del castellano se generalizó, como parte de las disposiciones de la corona. Creo que es un idioma muy hermoso y con mucha historia, una de las lenguas universales de la que me siento orgulloso. Una herencia imposible de borrar. Gracias.

Los exterminaron prácticamente. Usaquen tenía 16.000 indígenas y después de 150 años, por el exceso de trabajo para pahlgar impuestos murieron casi todos, quedando 200 indígenas, los cuales no le servían a la corina por su baja producción.

I really like your videos but they are very inconsistent. You say something but dont show it or show but a second of it. You cover some somewhat trival stuff but dont mention incredibly interesting things such as history. Or mention something that is or was but dont explain why or how. This is very frustrating. otherwise these good videos could be great. look i have a business that would still be only ok instead of great due to peoples critiques and me hearing them. Hi Jessica, thanks for your feedback. As you may notice, I just have around 40 videos on my channel (half of which are 2+ years old). What I’m saying is that my channel is pretty new, and I’m trying to find my own way and my own style. I am a “one man show”, do not have a team, and trust me, making videos (and try to make them good) it’s very, very tough and time consuming. I always do my best but I’m not Discovery Channel or NatGeo (I wish I was). Making travel videos is challenging because even if you plan it all, there is always something (more than something) that goes wrong. Of course my goal is always to make great video, but I’m aware that this is just the beginning of my channel and there is a learning curve which I’m on. So if my videos are not “perfect” (assuming that there is such a thing as perfection on TH-cam), at this stage I’m totally fine with it. Once again, thank you for your constructive critique, I hope you’ll find better content when you’ll check back :)
