There is a reason why Palanque is considered one of the e best archeological sites in Mexico. To explore it at your own pace, without rushing on a coming-from-far-away tour, I suggest you spend at least a night in Palenque. no worries about CJNG or Sinaloa conflict? I've wanted to go to Chiapas but am deterred because of the cartels.
Chispas at this stage is totally ok for tourism. Don’t worries, locals will let you know if problems arise in some areas as they will close the tourist attractions of the area. But once again, no issues right now, go and enjoy ! :)
