This is a detailed video of cleaning the carburetor of a 2015 Yamaha TTR50 including disassembly and explanation. Process covered applies to virtually all carburetors but the details will be different.
When diagnosing the bike after a no-start issue I went through 4 steps (in Part 1) to get the bike running right again. Hopefully the detail in the video gives you the confidence to work on the carburetor yourself! It doesn't take many tools but I do outline what you need to do the job.

The ttr has complicated carb design for a little bike. I just ordered a tusk cold start jet kit. We’ll see how it goes. Thanks for the vid.

@@alexdombi-weridetwo Funny you said that... I got a free homlite (older usa made one) weedeater 5 years ago that had a bogging issue. I tried everything... Long story... but not sure why, I decided to check the spark arrester. It was clogged with carbon. I threw it in the garbage and it ran perfect after. You could also throw it in some gas and clean it if you want to re use it... Hope that helps.

Please search for a service manual of your specific year to be sure, but I believe it is 1.5 turns out from seated.

Hey there- what piece are you asking about? Do you mean the choke?
Yes!! That’s it how do I put it on to the bike?
The choke plunger just slides back in and then is threaded in. Check at @4:52 to see how I removed it. This one had a stuck plunger that I got out with a little carb cleaner. Going back in it should just slide in the opposite as removal.
When routing the throttle cables back from the carb to the throttle, do the cables cross over to the right hand side of the bike and pass through steel condute holder attached to the bike then up through the neck and over the handle bars?? Or back up through the lefthand side through the neck etc.. the first senario i suggested seems logical but the cables seem a little tight. Ive brought a second hand carb and throttle assembly which is a completely different carb to what was on the bike, duel cable. So unfamiliar with setup but its the same carb and cable as the one you have installed.
I wish I could send pictures to help with this! If you look at 5:57 in the video, you can see the cables are routed through the cable ring on the right side of the backbone and then up in front of the bars to the throttle. You do need to make sure there isn't extra tension between the cable ring and the tube- as much slack as possible there to prevent binding.

@@alexdombi-weridetwo yeah ok thanks for that, i think where on the same page, pretty sure ive got it right. Just to me it looked like if i ran them down the left side instead of the right the cables would be more relaxed and on the right approach to the carb, but theres no cable ring on that side to support it. I could get my ttr50 to start but I have to hold the gas, it won’t just idol. When I took the bowl off the needle was sitting in the bottom. How does that go in and stay in? I haven’t taken the float off of it.

3:05 how did you slide the carburetor off after taking clamp off ? Just by pulling it out ?
Yes, once the intake clamp is loose, the carb should slide out.
How did you end up getting the choke cable off
It was actually just stuck in the carb body- the plunger pulls right out. The cable is held in the plunger with a slot/insert. If yours is stuck and you're doing a full rebuild hit it with WD40 and it should slide right out. ;)
Hey ive been looking for a crab for my ttr50 2013 but only 2006-2011 show up idk if they can fit
I'm pretty sure 2012-2024 is the same carb. Check on the parts fiche for your year and see what the part numbers are and compare it to a 2011- their may be some small details changed.
@@alexdombi-weridetwo yeah man i couldt find any on there also i also noticed that the cab is leaking out gas from the bottom I tightened the little bolt so it wouldn’t and still does it
That can happen if the drain bolt is stripped out even a little bit. Is that the reason you are replacing the carb?
@@alexdombi-weridetwo well i replaced the spark plug battery and mostly everything u did in that vid and it still wont start so I noticed when i would turn the gas on it would leak also but the bike hasent started and im pretty sure it that carb
If it leaks when you turn the fuel on then the float valve needs to be replaced. It's what stops the fuel at the right level. If it doesn't, it'll flood the engine with fuel and it won't start. Look for an All Balls Carb rebuilt kit.
Where does that small black hose go at 22:45?
It runs up over the carb, along the topside of the air box and back towards the rear wheel. It's a vent line.
