That stud on the sheath is called a frog. It's to slide the sheath behind your belt and the frog keeps it in place. That way you can carry cross draw like it's meant to be
I just ordered one of these. It's a damn good looking Bowie. Can't wait to get it. I just LOVE big Bowie knives. I have no scientific evidence to back this statement up, but I'm convinced that just holding a big Bowie in your hand automatically raises your testosterone levels by several points! 😁
Thank you, Joe! It's a real beautiful beast. Easily my most stylish bowie-knife. Yes, I fully agree the finger choil is quite practical to use when making feather sticks.
It's a beast of a knife, but I was not really expecting the cleans cuts through those thicker branches. This knife is capable of more than meets the eye, that's for sure.
When you remove the sheath frog or “holder” as you called it the purpose is to carry the knife inside your belt. The pin will hold it on your belt. This is the traditional style of carrying a Bowie. I’d suggest googling it to really see it work.
Congrats! Now that I know just how well this knife performs, I'm getting a second or even third one, and one of those extra will for sure have a Moran-handle. Easily the most stylish blade profile of any bowie-knife that I own.
@@PinkG10 I think you'll really like the Moran-handle on this. I wear a 12US/11EU glove and the ergo's on this handle are really nice. It has a very good feel in hand imo.
No Pink G10 for me on this one. The block of Pink G10 that BRK buys are just not thick enough to make this handle. Not a deal breaker, though. I can still come up with decent handle-configs. ;)
I'm not surprised at all about how well this performed I have an old shining mountain bowie in 52100 from when brk was making the blackjack knives and I can honestly use it in place of a hatchet in most cases I feel that you underestimate your knives as they certainly can down an 8in diameter tree quite easily just use a baton and take out wedges you'll have it downed in no time at all....
I've done a lot of chopping with large knives during the years, even putting them directly up against different hatches and axes, but I've also gotten more and more into axes and I guess I've come to underestimate some of these knives a bit. And I'm not going to lie, there're times when I'd prefer a large sized knife over an axe when doing certain tasks. Still, I love axes just as much as I love knives.
I have no problem with this knife being made in A2, that being said, CPM-3V is my favorite steel of the all, so I would def. pick one up if it was made in 3V. I doubt that'll happen, though.
You know, if you were to pick one general spot for all your bushcraft adventures then you could build a shelter there that would eliminate these wind problems and it has many many other benefits as well including showcasing the knives used and improving your skill set...
I'm a knife, axe and watch guy, heh! The watch I'm wearing in this video is the Casio MTG-S1000V. I've a couple of different generations MTG's, actually picked another one up just a couple of weeks ago. I also made a video some months ago showing a couple of my watches. Here's the link to it: th-cam.com/video/Muz4teS3mCY/w-d-xo.html

Wow, what a beauty! Hope they do another run of these.
WOW! What a Beautiful Knife! I like using a finger choil when I’m making fine feather sticks.

Agreed! I like cutting from the top down when I make feather sticks
The guard is the first thing I noticed and the deciding factor in why I went ahead and pre ordered the shining mountain bowie instead.
Beast of a knife! Very nice.

Great knife and great video Fredrik ! Best regards

Thank you!

such a beautiful blade indeed. thanx for the review
man that is a great looking bark river kinda disappointed i missed out on that one
I just got mine today with the Moran handle. I'm not a fan of the standard clip point bowie, but I really like the style/design of this one.

Soy de españa y este cuchillo me tiene crazy....it's an amazing knife,
I remember they had a very limited handle material menu for the pre order but they didn't have Pink G10 for you? Excellent video as usual!!

when a knife is too beautiful to use.

I wonder how many owners actually use it, for me I added it too my collection.
Nice blade:-) FM

Would it make sense for this to be made in CPM 3V ??

That's actually a really good idea, Kevin! I'll give it some serious thought, and maybe start a project of sorts around one these "bushcraft-spots".
Good video! I'm both a knife guy and a watch guy. What kind of watch is that?
I agree that a longer guard would have been a little bit better.

Make a test vid on the Teddy 2
I'm gonna order a highway man III BEFORE they're all gone
Sounds like a good plan! I was going to get a Moran-version as well, but it seems they're all out of stock now ...
@@PinkG10 KSF has one left in curly maple, at least as of making this comment.
In the details you mentioned it was a Moran, that’s not a Moran handle.
I mentioned it's also available with a Moran handle-design. I, however, prefer the Pommel-version.
👍👌❤️
I would definitely want it to be full tang with a a2 steel finger gard, the gard is as thick as the knife so a2
choils are nice in my opinion.
I love you but I’m also a heterosexual man and you’re married to a woman so it’s just awkward.
Haha, not sure how to respond to this comment! :p
