@@EcnalKcin yes, if the hot water stay for long that may cause the fish bit cooked! So, you check my other salmon skin removal video, hope that will help! Thank you for your feedback!
Thank you for posting this video, the technique is magic :) My variation: boil water in a pan, then add the fish skin-side-down and continue to boil for about 15-30 seconds. Remove the fish from the water, onto a plate, then remove skin. Now you can empty the frying pan, reheat the pan with some oil and then fry the fish as desired. I was worried that it would overcook the fish, but I didn't notice any difference whatsoever, and the fish turned out great (butter, salt and pepper fried over medium heat, flipping once).
Great idea! Perhaps one could place the salmon pieces one a cooling rack or in a colander so that the boiling water runs right through instead of par-boiling the fish itself.
Omg I love you!! For years, I've always had to wait until the fish was completely fried and then take the skin off--and then you're left with that nasty gray stuff. This solves my problem beautifully! Thank you!!!
Worked perfectly. Start with COLD filets and less water than you think. Probably used 0.33 cup for two 4 oz. filets with two applications just like the video. . Kept the fish in the fridge right up until skinning so they were cold. Skin peeled right off. Fish was not cooked at all.

I use this method however I use a rack over the sink instead of a plate. It this works best with rolling hot boiling water and thick pieces of salmon. I used to try by boiling water in my rice cooker, while it did work just not as affective with rolling boiling hot water from a pot and a really hot source.

Super tip, thank you. I will try, I need skinless salmon fillet to make salmon cakes, I shop at Aldi which has good prices but I can't find already skinned salmon there. Though, I'm thinking, what if you pour the water on the plate first, and then place the salmon skin side on the plate, only the skin will be in contact with the hot water, and if you feel like the heat starts to travel to the meat and risks cooking it, you remove the fillet and it might be time to skin it. This is great. I always try to keep as much of the fatty meat that's close to the skin, and this works well for that. If you take fish oil pills, that all comes from the fat. Sometimes the edges cook a little bit, but that's OK. If a section of skin gets stubborn, you can usually slip a finger under it and slide it off that way. Fish is now soaking in brine solution.
