What would be great to know is, UPWIND, what TWA she can sail to in different TWS. Show us her polars! Sure the headline is "20+ knots!!!", but that's going to be "fun" for about 20 minutes and then you'll probably get some feedback from the green crew and/or break something. And that 20+kts is going to be on a beam reach with plenty of wind, when everyone else on performance cat is doing say 12-15kts and sipping Champagne. But, much more impressive... Kitted out with a huge Main and Jib and being a Tri and so light, I'm guessing that even in 6kts TWS on the nose, she can point up below 20 TWA and get a VMG of maybe 5kts... that's the biggest win IMO. No stinky engine for you that day when everyone else is gagging! And guess what, there are a lot of those days in the Med. I also see she has a 27m2 staysail for windy days and I'm assuming a very deep 3rd reef. You've obviously got to be a very competent skipper and have a good crew to really enjoy the boat, but it looks an awesome design. It really would be great to see her polars!
It’s hard enough trying to find haulout facilities with 25ft beam, I cant even imaginethe difficulties with this boat. That said, I’d love to sail her! 😊
I think it sounds like they had some good service from Rapido fixing all of the teething issues. I have yet to see a brand new boat with no problems to iron out, they are complex machines. You are often better off buying a 3 year old boat and letting the previous owner deal with them
@sterlingarcher1962 I think this Xtra Space model opens up the living space. Pretty impressive plus the master cabin up top is pretty unique (Neel also do this). The guy who bought the first one wants to do 10 day Atlantic crossings. There's the main advantage with this, high average daily mileage/ ability to avoid bad weather. Also there is only one engine to service and your fuel consumption will be half in the Doldrums. You are sailing from 5 knots of wind if you don't overload the boat.
I could not see anything, the camera was too close and moving fast That said, this boat is overpowered for cruising, to put into perspective a Beneteau Oceanis 60 has a 79m2 Main, a similar sized Chris White Hammerhead 54 trimaran has a Main of 79m2 Nearly 50% more sail area is a crazy, but each to their own I guess
She has 15% more upwind sail area than a Neel 52 (carbon mast option), but you are right to highlight that, this isn't a first-timers boat by any means. I don't think the comparison to the Beneteau makes sense, different market IMO
@@StudioBhobhoTrimarans are so much different to monos and the CW HH - while a great boat - is of a completely different era. Extra sail area translates to better light wind performance, and then reefing earlier when the wind builds. I’d trust M&Ms design on sail area…
All the Rapidos are intended to be performance cruisers. They're fast and can win races. It also means they can sail well in lighter air, and therefore sail more often and motor less. Sensible cruising would be to not use full power all the time.
Awesome boat. Loads of space, load of performance, and looks pretty snazzy as well. Nice work Rapido👍

Would be interesting to see a 60xs 🤔
Any update on LaVagabond?
Not seen anything from Riley or Elayna.

Better do a tour after a few ocean crossings.
Do the pontoons come in so as to take less space in the harbor?

Seems like a lot of quality issues. From previous dude from sail vagabond or whatever

SLV is also a custom boat and on a drama-filled channel. Several other Rapido owners have spoken up and confirmed their boats are fine.
Lovely vessel for sure. But, I don't think I'm sold on this over a cat.
In between a traditional Tri and a cat
@@katamaranscom indeed. I suppose the way I see it is you have all the cat issues devoid of many cat advantages.

Lots of strings and things

@@LoanwordEggcorn100% spot on. Being able to sail at 10kts de-powered is a LOT more fun (and safer) than sailing at 10kts flat out / on the limit.
