    -------------------------------------------------------------
Most outdoor adventures are much more enjoyable with a cold beverage. The Makita 18V X2 LXT Cooler/Warmer Box takes that to a new level allowing you to use this to cool your beverage, freeze items or even keep them warm! The cooler has four cooling modes capable of holding constant temperatures of 15°F, 30°F, 40°F, and 50°F, while also having two warming modes capable of 130°F and 140°F. It operates using one 18V LXT battery with the option to insert one additional battery for extended run time. It can also operate from a 12V/24V vehicle plug, or corded AC power. There is a large, easy-to-read LED display allows you to check the temperature and remaining battery time. For added convenience, it has a USB charging port to provide power to common devices like phones and tablets.
The MAKITA X2 LXT 12V/24V DC Auto, and AC Cooler / Warmer Box is water-resistant (IPX4 rated) for improved operation in harsh job site conditions.
The MAKITA X2 LXT 12V/24V DC Auto, and AC Cooler / Warmer Box is a smaller cooler and would be great for boating, short camping trips, or even daily use on the job site. The ability to grab your tool batteries and use them in your cooler is amazing. For longer runtimes, a portable power station will run this for upwards of 30 hours with the 12-volt adapter.
In our testing, we found that in the 30-degree mode, we did not freeze water. That might not be the case for all of these coolers so please do some testing before you leave canned beverages overnight at 30 degrees. Being a person who loves very cold canned beer, I was disappointed there was not a 35-degree setting so I did not have to worry about a possible broken can from freezing.
The best use for this cooler is to put something cold in it and let the cooler maintain the temperature. The same goes with the warming side. While it will work to bring things up or down to temperature, it will take a significant amount of time.

Why would you expect the thing to freeze water when you have it set at 30°? It’s only 2° below the freezing point. If you want to freeze water, set it to the 15° setting. I’m thinking the 30° setting was purposely put there by the manufacturer for beer

I just got the Hikoki version from Japan, but the 25l version , Metabo HPT needs to bring this to the USA. Main reason it's larger, has split zones, charges the batteries, USB out 12v out as well, 12v in, ac in, warm and cold.. You should really send a note to Metabo HPT and really tell them hey this would be good

If DeWalt finally delivers their usb-c bi- directional charger, you could use it with a generic 12v cooler.
What's nuts is that unit has a compressor. I would've thought it was just a cheap thermoelectric unit. I wouldn't be surprised if a big chunk of the cost is the reversing valve. I can't thi k of anything else that needs to be a heat pump at that size. Or maybe it's just using a resistive element for heat.
Why haven't they made that a small like backpack unit as a personal heat pump.
That, I think people would pay big money for, probably run Into weight issues though.

Just run a battery adapter, metabo cooler is much cheaper and has so many bells and whistles, I only have DeWalt batteries and even better a 10 ah that I use with an adapter to keep the cooler running for hours and hours

It seems really weird to me that if I run out of battery power and do not have an outlet available I can't simply add ice and use it as a traditional cooler in a pinch.

The fuse on the 12v car socket has blown and now the cooler turns on but does not cool. It’s probably in short circuit protection mode but how can I reset it ?

I'm pretty sure this is a 3rd party product, as Hikoki has the exact same cooler, except it's green. I mean _exact same_ cooler. It takes one or two batteries, or plugs into wall, same everything. It's not available in the US, though

    • @misha030302

The Hikoki is actually a bit larger, has two sections and has a drain plug. A lot of Makita and Hikoki tools are very similar. The cordless trim routers share bases.

I owned a dometic compressor cooler, and you could not put ice in that either. They’re not designed for ice. That’s why you plug them in. If you want to put ice in there, use ice packs, or put the ice in Ziploc bags. Easy Peezy

Why not just turn it all the way down to 15 degrees and see how long it takes to freeze? Also, they should have put a drain in for ice.

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Not a scenario that anyone would do. If you wanted to freeze something, you would freeze the cooler alone (30 mins) and put stuff in it that is frozen or put very small items in to freeze. This is not meant to freeze larger items. If it was, it would go down to 0 degrees like your home freezer.
