  • I came across another old film/documentary set in Derry.
Here are some clips from it that I edited together ( I've also added a little soundtrack ) I hope you enjoy it.

Interesting how it shows all this beauty and then these lovely built houses (all Protestant houses on the WS) no real showing of the almost slum like Catholics areas... which explains why it all kicked off

The lovely built houses “all Protestant on the ws” you wrongly post about, are all actually privately owned houses, and not social housing. A big difference. Secondly they are not “all Protestant” either. I’m RC and I lived in one of them featured. Need to get this right.

U realize that video is from the 1968 right ?
Sure there where a few Catholics that lived in the recently built Lisnagelvin / Kilfennan area but the vast majority FAMOUSLY lived in social housing due to discrimination and oppressive laws (FAMOUSLY)
Those private houses in the WS where built by and for Protestants so I am guessing you where an outlier ...or you're a liar lol

@@thecircledk8597 Yes I do know it’s from 1968, and I’m only correcting your inaccuracies or rubbish that you posted. You clearly state (“ALL “ Protestant houses on the ws). I’m saying that’s incorrect. Built by and for Protestants, your words not mine, you care to explain that.

Are you claiming that Catholics built those AND they where for Catholics ? In the Waterside...In DERRY in 1968 ?!?!
They where built for Protestants...pretty much all higher end houses in the ws where... the Catholic "middle class" tended to go to Culmore.
Did you live in Kilfennan or the ones shown closer to the water such as Browning Drive...that was shown briefly.

@@thecircledk8597 I’m only correcting your original post where you wrongly state the houses featured were (all Protestant houses on the ws). You know that’s wrong, as I lived in one of those houses. I’m aware that the Culmore end catered for the middle classes, and there again not solely Catholic either. The social housing in Derry and discrimination is not, and never will be, in dispute by me. It’s just the featured private houses in the video I take exception with by your post.
