    I took this bus from Dungloe to Larne back in 2003 after a bike crash just outside Dungloe the same day. That bus was the biggest piece of luck I have ever had on my journeys as Dungloe is in the middle of nowwhere. By accident, and with bandaged legs (my own work), I found the bus station and the bus leaving 30 minutes later. I was back in my flat in Belfast 4 hours later. I am glad they are still around.

    Welcome to the North West Scott! Donegal is a gorgeous often forgotten county in Ireland. It's sparsely populated with no rail links to the rest of the country and also a roughly 5-mile county border connects Donegal with Leitrim and the rest of the Republic. It is possible to fly to Donegal Airport (with loganair from Glasgow) but onward connections are limited and you will need to check with local link buses, taxis, or car rental.
    Donegal is also home to one of only two domestic flight routes in Ireland going to Dublin and the other being Dublin to Kerry Airport located in Farranfore (15 minute walk to the train station) between the county's biggest towns Killarney and Tralee. The former is worth a visit if you love walking as it's home to one of Ireland's national parks. A potential idea for a video sometime.
    Love your videos!

    What truly annoys me is that most folks here whining on and on about how it should be pronounced "Londonderry" don't even come from this town. The reality of the matter is that most folks WHO ACTUALLY COME FROM the town call it Derry. The vast majority of folks here call the town by the name Derry whether you like it or not. Thus if you want to be respectful, call it by that name aswell, instead of being stuck up your own rear and tell the locals how they should call their own town.

    Hi Scott, i used to use this route over to Ireland to Letterkenny, the service used to run 4 days a week in the high season (June to September) on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and 2 days in the low season (October to May) on a Wednesday and Saturday from both Letterkenny and Glasgow, there used to be a change in Larne off the Glasgow bus onto the Letterkenny bus and then the Glasgow bus would go back onto the ferry taking those from Letterkenny back to Glasgow and the bus from Letterkenny would then pick up in Larne and return to Letterkenny, the fare used to only be £100 return as well and this was only a few years ago before the pandemic, I now prefer Citylink and Stena as the return is only £53 as opposed to £150 with Docherty/Bus Feda/McGinleys although its all about convenience.

    Great vid as always Scott. Shame Dohertys chose p&o as their carrier as i personally wouldn't ever travel on a p&o ferry ever again after the disgraceful way they treated their workers by firing them all and employing cheap foreign national labour. I reckon i'm not alone in that sentiment either because the last time i travelled to scotland and back in april i couldn't help but notice that the stena line vessel i travelled on was packed to the doors while the p&o vessel was virtually empty on the same crossing. Serves them right i say, carma! Personally i wouldn't even feel safe travelling on a p&o ferry with poorly trained poorly paid staff as it's inevitable that safety standards have been compromised by this move. 👎 Anyway, Dochertys choice obviously had nothing to do with you and certainly didn't detract from my enjoyment of your vlog. Keep em coming, great channel! 😎😎😎👍

    • @dennij
      @dennij ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davidravenscroft9235 It wasn't carried out with the full backing of the government, what P&O did wasn't unlawful, the government and the unions negotiated with the company to reconsider but P&O knew they had no power and just went ahead with the sackings knowing there was no recourse. It does raise the question over employment law and I think the government should have looked into this after this event to change it so that no other employer could do this in the future. I used to be a regular traveller with P&O but haven't used their services since, not because I wouldn't feel safe on board but because I don't agree with what P&O did to a loyal workforce.

    Scott, you need to prepare sandwiches or burgers before you start your journey. 🍔🍔 Those prices on the ferry are crazy. I wanted to cry when I saw how much you paid for a burger, fries and dessert cake. Skip the sweet dessert. Full of sugar and unhealthy.

      Its for tax and workers rights and regulations. Ferries and Cruise lines register in countries that suit how they run their companies and give them more advantages regarding paying tax and how badly they can get away with treating their staff. It's why more ethical nautical companies keep away from registering in places like the bahamas, Panama etc.
