We decided to salute our very own Northeastern University with a remix of the Jayz-Z and Alicia Keyes original.
Written and performed by Drew D'Agostino, featuring Sean Reilly, Jeff Perez, and Mr. Mooves.
Produced by Rob St. Denis
Enjoy!
Just wanted to let you know that 11 years later this song is timeless. Absolute legends. We even still have an Oscar that we have to apologize to if we get caught drinking in our dorms. Couldn’t be more accurate still.
For those that are newly accepted...
Live it up, I would trade anything to go back to Freshman year!
"Don't go through the fens on a night jog, you'll be in the crime log."
RIP Chicken Lou's and Boloco 😞
Great job.Song is timeless.Other than a few bar or restaurant changes and the School's rep being better, the song fits Northeastern when I matriculated there decades ago.And despite some new buildings, when I passed by a few weeks ago,the vibe was the same and the year could almost have been the same(former resident of Spear,Huntington Ave and then Jamaica Plain). For all it's faults, this reminded me,great years.
I never get tired of this video
I work at NU and this is making the rounds of staff as well as students and alums. You put a lot of smiles and laughs on peoples faces around here. Love it! Lots of work to put this together Mr. D'Agostino. I've shared and played it many times in the last 24. Your other music video is good too but this one is making you famous! Use it wisely. Good job and good luck!
Just recently accepted as a freshman for 2015. So excited :)
I'm an upcoming sophomore at northeastern and it's crazy how timeless this is. Dead accurate even after a decade 😂😂😂
Just made me go back to the years there..... It's been 11 years since i left... So sad. I need to go back sometime soon. Thanks so so much for making this and I hope you never take it down. This brings us all so much joy and back to some really good times
this is a true piece of art
"Don't get caught in the tunnels or a late night at Ruggles!" - These are all facts!!
My friends and I were at a bachelorette this past weekend, and we played this video and reminisced about our college lives 8 years ago!! Some of the girls didn’t go to northeastern, but we all lived in the area, and can relate so much to this video!! Thanks Drew for making this memory so great for us! We are obsessed with this song and Northeastern! NU’12
Just got accepted into NU! :D
Congrats! It's a great place.
And it's where I ended up going, currently typing this from Kerr Hall :P
StaticAnnouncement And now I'm just about to wrap up my first year...Man the time has flown.
StaticAnnouncement I've got to decide by tomorrow night whether or not to attend....ah, choices
Corey Staier Do it
By the way, it is now my last day of freshman year. I leave Boston in about 12 hours :(
Just does not get old!! Thank you for this
"we have spring break in the winter" SO TRUE LMFAO
Incredible experience! Incredible education! After 3 co-ops, you usually graduate with 1-3 job offers. You’ll make forever friends. Coming from So Cal, you’ll never regret the 5 yrs you spend here!! If you have a chance, just DO IT!!
I also live in socal and am trying to decide whether or not I should attend this fall, how did you adjust to the weather? Is it as bad and depressing as everyone says?
Fadi awesome Weather? initially, it’s a little tough to get used to, coming from California. But, then after awhile, you actually enjoy the changing seasons. Only thing I’d think about is where you live. Be wary of locations in Mission Hill, Roxbury, Dorchester, and Jamaica Plain. Not all bad by any means, but you just want to physically check out the location before committing to a place to live! It changes from block to block. Stick with a lot of nearby students living. Enjoy some of the best years of your life wherever you end up!
415hispfemale thanks!
Just moved up again in the rankings! LOL
#39!
Still tied with BU though- we'll get em next time
This is still my favorite song
This is absolutely phenomenal! Makes me miss NU so much! Great job guys!
This is great! I graduated from NU in 1991 and pretty much everything seems the same except you guys get sushi! Great video...thanks for sharing!
This is AMAZING! Bet Northwestern can't beat this ;-)
Class of 2010 and played football lol. I take my son on walks around campus from time to time just for nostalgia's sake. This song is perfect and brings back so many funny memories. Go Huskies.
I have no connection to northeastern whatsoever, but I honestly listen to this song all of the time. Great catchy song and lyrics
This video makes me so happy. I'm graduating from NEU in a month and moving away from Boston; I'll miss it.
This is CLASSIC! Love it! Thanks guys! NEU will always be in my heart - my dear Alma mater.
That was TIGHT! It made me all nostalgic and junk! Nice work!
Wish I could do it all over again. Awesome school
Dude this video has accomplished in a few minutes what hundreds of Alumni newsletters have been unable to do for five years...invoke a sense of nostalgia for NEU baby! I now officially miss it! Thank you!
awesome work! I did my masters at NEU..your clip and lyrics hit the university-life perfectly! :D (of course I shared this video around our alumni group)
Awesome video. My bro is in the pharmacy program at NU. Since we're so close to Boston, we visit a lot. I recognize so many of those areas woot!
"you'll live and die on the green line"
That line is AMAZING!
This video is absolutly fantastic, it totally changed my perspective on a school i've grown up hearing about. I saw this video yesterday, visited the campus today, and it's now one of my top choices. I really want to thank you for making this video, because it might have changed my life.
I'm going to be a freshman in the fall! I'm sooo excited!!
awesome job guys! It's amazing how every NEU student could easily relate to every single line in that..!
I graduated in 1991 and have worked in television for years and find this very clever. Good stuff!!!!
OH my lord. I moved back home to Minneapolis and am back at the U of MN, but this just made my night.
I'm so nervous about admission for Fall 2019. D'Amore-McKim is my dream school for undergraduate. June 15th can't come soon enough 👍
*applauds* Amazing, simply amazing. Really brings back memories.
This video just makes me more depressed about the fact I probably won't get accepted
RIP Chicken Lou's 2020.
Timeless
Oh man. Thank you for making this. So much love and nostalgia for NU. What great memories!!
Committed to NU, now I'm even more hyped
class of 09. BK and harmonica guy were still around when I left, but Lou had been gone for some time. Thankfully his chicken is still around. This vid is just what I needed. Been missing Boston lately... No mention of punters, connors, or mission hill though?
Amazing how little has changed in 10 years. Truest video I've seen in a long time.
This video sold me on northeastern. cant wait to go here!!!!!
I graduated nearly 20 years ago. A lot of stuff has changed, but a lot is the same. Brilliant video!
God, this chorus about the crime log is so ridiculously amazing!
This was like, the best thing I've ever seen.
brought back ton of memories.... great video....
got accepted and it feels amazing to watch this video again lmao
Wonderful. Absolutely wonderful.
This is awesome!!!! Lovee spring break in winter!
Yup, I'm pretty sure this has gone viral now... I tweeted it to BostonTweet and shared it on Facebook, along with the rest of my former classmates. Awww this brings back so many memories! But where's the shout-out Trivia Night at Conors??
NEU has a beautiful campus, is well patroled, and it is safe but of course you want to be careful - don't stagger around drunk, leave your laptop unattended,or walk into dark, unfamilar areas in the night. My daughter comes from a small town (pop 8,300), but she wanted to go to a city and NEU has been a good fit- her first semester she worked for AmeriCorp teaching preschoolers literacy skills at a day care center in a rough area of the city. She just walked with other students.
This is the best thing I have seen online in months!
Have been graduated from NU for 6 years now and living in Va Beach. This video brought back so many awesome memories for me and made me miss Bean Town BIG TIME. Y'all did an amazing job on the video... Yes I said y'all I have been converted into a southerner.
This is perhaps the most amazing thing I've ever seen.
Fantastic job. Brings back memories cj81
This is the greatest video I have EVER seen! (Class of 1997)
Thanks for making this! Made me miss my alma mater and Boston. Walking down memory lane is always a blast. Best of luck.
It feels awesome to watch this video and know that everything applies to you.
Haha i am a first year transfer at northeastern and love it.. this video is awesome!
just got excepted to northeastern. i cannot wait!
I love this! My daughter is a sophomore at Northeastern and we have talked about so many of the things in this video. It is FABULOUS. Now Brittany's 2 sisters, who are 10 and 11, can't get enough of this. You are all very talented. This should be on the website for Northeastern to attract new students. Is there anyway you could send us the words.
I loved this. Being an old alum (and a filmmaker) and far far away from Boston, it was so nice to see all those little places. It wasn't meant to, but being thousands of miles away (and years away too), it gave me a warm fuzzy feeling (and made me laugh). :) Thanks for making this. (And ignore the jackass above who said it wasn't viral. Nearly 200k hits isn't bad at all kiddies. Nice work.
This video is so fantastic.
GUys this is soooo awesome, I cant even express how well done this is. 04 Grad here, brings back so many memories. well done!!!
Love it love it love it. Faculty member here!
I was very depressed because of my stat exam, but after I listened this great song, my life shines again!!!This is a song which can make u smile~~~~~~
Fuck this video is 7 years old today.
I was a freshman when it came out, everyone would quote it.
Fuck, time sucks.
everything is so true I studied grad school there for 4 years, very beautiful years. Miss Boston, it is a very beautiful city.
I cant wait to watch this!
the "Green Line" is the "T" (trolley) route that goes down Huntington Ave, through the Campus. It's not a dangerous place, just look both ways, The trolleys go at about 30mph when above ground. My daughter goes to NEU. She loves it! It is a safe place, but just like any city, you should be careful. Boston is a great city to go to college- many great opportunities and a bit smaller then NYC
I grew up next to Boston. The "green line" train runs right up the center of the street , when you cross the street , you must cross over the green line, if you are in a hurry and disregard the lights, you could get "killed" by a passing train. (some do it, i'm sure young impervious college kids do it often.....lol)
Great video guys. Never went to NEU but know all about the green line.
hahaha i graduated NU in '07. this video is AWESOME and so true. great work.
I see we have some imitators now, but whatever NU State of Mind was the first and remains the best State of Mind vid!!
- student of Northeastern University Class of 2015
Nailed it.
@Coragami
we're built around multiple train stations. and the museum of fine arts and the christian science church may as well be part of campus.
After finishing my first year at NU this song is so much better.
awesome job guys. really hit them all
Husky here 1995 Grad..NUPD 1991 to 2008...met my wife also an NU Grad here....NU is my home away from home...I miss it
this is the greatest video ever. story of my life
just as good as granite state of mind. hell yeah neu!
Frigging hysterical... this just made me miss NU/college so much more than I already do!!!
This is amazing...brings back such great memories
Thanks for the reassurance. I heard more about people being attacked in close by areas off campus places, like Roxbury, and Ruggles station. I hope those are just rumors, and I hope your experience speaks for the vast majority of people who attend Northeastern. I'm excited to start, but I just felt really iffy when I read on forums how many places surrounding campus are very unsafe after certain hours.
Thanks for the reply :)
This is awesome!! Natural Disasters was one of my fav. classes, and I made it in the crime log fresh year... miss it so much!
Go huskies!! NEU' 09
after years i just remembered what the video was called. great stuff
I found this as an intro to NEU before my freshman year, and now I am getting graduate...So sad. Husky for life!
I'm an NU staff member. Loved this, as does everyone in my office. Great job, guys. Lots of fun and very appealing!
AMAZING! I live in hawaii now, but this is my school!!! thanks for the nostalgia, it really brings me back. Love Boston, Love NEU!!!
andy samberg lonely island era vibes
Great work, Who couldn't stop being pride of NEU after hearing this? Well done!
Way creative. Very well done.
makes me miss it all so much! NU class '06!
awesome work guys
this video makes me want to go here. visiting northeastern and BU in a few weeks. northeastern seems a tad bit more fun though because of this video ^^
Summed up five years of my life in five minutes. Well done!
