This is why maplestory was more fun prebb. It's so much more of a solo game now it's insane. The daily grind and fomo fear mongering is out of control and they would do anything to pump out more content for a profit even at the expense of the games balance and feel.
I totally agree about the fomo part and it being hard to balance maplestory around other parts of your life considering how much time it takes to upkeep the game. I think it's a fun game but also generally an unhealthy game to play.
As other comments have suggested, I think that trying to do everything is not the best way to play Maplestory for most people, including myself. If you want to have a fun and healthy time, then ignore as much of the dailies and time-limited stuff as you want or need. Easier said than done, unfortunately. Something I used to hear a long time ago in the old days of Maplestory was this: It's YOUR story. Play it the way you want! But now, when I've come back to the game in recent years people act as if there's a well-defined meta, a single path to success in Maplestory. But this consensus playstyle is draining, tedious, and time-intensive. Ironic because these days the game will level you up and progress you without you even trying lol. You don't have to "min-max". I suspect that at least at first, the devs expected few or zero players to try to do ALL the daily content like this. Maplestory has so much content that there's no need to rush to "end-game" in order to win or have fun. For example, I deliberately choose not to make my mains burning characters so that I get to grind more and don't get sling-shotted past so much fun and interesting content. Anyway, perhaps MS is more of a mind-game/psychology game between the player and Nexon lol. And if that's not your cup of tea, side-stepping all of this and moving on from MS is a completely reasonable and respectable option too.
@@xbon1no you don't do every bit, unless it is something you want to do. I have all jobs at 90, just waiting for the timegate to savage gear to be over to just instantly farm every single piece. I am currently unsubbed precisely because I don't have to worry about going back to progress. I cap most of my tomestones just from doing hunt trains whenever I am around for them. This is precisely why I felt it is a good game for players wanting to show slow progression (getting better at the game, and up to raiding), even though there is a really small amount of actual grinding compared to games like MapleStory.
@@lostpockets2227 nah back then we had networks of people who’d find the best combinations of shit and we’d take world firsts on raid bosses, some people even died staying up too late. The meta is the only thing that matters.
Valid points man, i leave and return from maple every year or longer. Usually a friend brings me back and i end up grinding the event thats going on and then leave. One thing that i learned from playing maple on and off since 2006, is getting over FOMO. Theres going to be events on alllll the time and with a bunch of rewards, new characters but theres no need getting all of it, same with dailies. Even now that i play more, i do only some weekly bosses i need gear from, event mini games, monster park and the last two dailies. I don't want to feel repetitiveness from doing too much, or like its becoming a job. Seiing you do everything is rough, that shit feels like wayyyy too much for me. I can't even do maple tour + Monster park, everytime i come back i just find a select of stuff to do based on the time i have without it feeling repititive. I enjoyed your content man, looking to see what game you hopping on
A big factor about enjoying video games throughout my life is the idea of "Safe Obligation". I love a game because it's not real life - costs have known pity systems, definite risks provide definite rewards. My JRPG party is wiped in a long dungeon - reloading game saves gave a new chance at a known cost. I wipe, I reload - I clear, I save and progress. Maplestory expiry dates hurt my ability to know that my investment in the game is rewarded with a fixed value. Maple's item progression is baked with this in mind, and I still find enjoyment in it because at least booming an item 21-22*, I click the button every time. I choose whether I take a chance at clearing or wiping, seeing the odds and investment through my meso/spares/time/odds. When my item reward (e.g., Tera Burninator) disappears from my inventory because I wasn't online to check the expiry warning, my investment being taken away creates an unsafe obligation where a reward given is not guaranteed without additional investment. Live service games, Maple being the one I've ever been addicted to, bleed the line between safe ("gamified") and unsafe ("real life") obligations.
Not sure why this popped up in my recommendations but I feel you. I quit around 2 years ago, maybe more. Back then I was actually having a blast, I was on top of my dailies, was a cofounder of a very social and inclusive guil,. I was making rapid progress and even got into item trading. Got to the point where I was preparing to buy full absolab gear, already got myself gloves and boots only for nexon to announce the dutch trade restrictions. In one stupid short sighted decision out of my own control my account was cut off from the rest of the community and I was basically forced to play hard mode reboot. Even after we vocally protested all we got was some stupid pet and a mediocre amount of progression resources. Tried to play on the reboot servers about a year ago, all the guilds I got in to were hyperfocused on the grind. I no longer felt like I could engage in the community I used to adore and quickly realized that I was no longer engaging with the game, I was just mindlessly pressing buttons that made the grind happen because the game told me to. It was then that I grew fully dissolusioned with the game and properly moved on to greener pastures.
I've been playing the game for over a week now and I totally agree with you. Having basically all of my burning gear expiring, as well as my cubes, flames, nodes, just feels awful - this constant rush to maximize and optimize in order to progress my character in a time-shrinking and hurrying fashion is nigh stressful. This game is annoyingly fun, but I do feel like I end up just spending too much time that I could've spent elsewhere, particularly for me, learning the violin. So I'll probably quit now too lol :)
Can not blame you for it, the reason the series was so appealing to me is exactly because I myself can not handle the expectation to log in daily for several hours. In a way I was just enjoying the progression vicariously through you. Looking forward to whatever you pick up.
You're right about the fundamentals of the game being good, the problem has always been the systems put in place in order to artificially increase play time and spending, time limitations etc. The game is just not friendly towards new players, there are way too many terrible systems basically required for progression, especially things like links, legion, daily quests like symbols, familiars, GMS exclusive content which is basically all forced due to being more powerful than Korean MS progression systems, time-limited events and cash items, etc, etc. It's just so overwhelming for new players, I can't imagine anyone being excited to try this game until huge overhauls take place. Daily FOMO story really killed the game for many new players.
I agree with your sentiments on Maplestory. I'm only playing it at the moment to pass the vast amount of time I have while searching for a job so once I do get busy I will also drop the game.
1:50 Same for me. Expiring items are something I hope I never have to run into with any game in the future. Absolutely terrible game mechanic that I won't miss. In fact, if a game I'm interested in has such terrible features I'll completely lose interest. To make matters worse you have multiple inventories, many of which are character exclusive. It's so bad that I'm starting to feel like I would be less stressed if I just quit the game cold turkey. A game that's played for enjoyment and escapism from the stresses of life should never make you consider such things.
At the same time you decided to leave Maplestory, its korean server has been caught and fined by the government for their cash item scams. What a coincidence 😮
Honestly, every point you made was valid and most people would agree. The one good thing about maple is that your account is always there. If you ever have that itch again, you can pick it back up and continue playing. I enjoyed the content but life>game, and I'd even say try skipping the FOMO event stuff (and videos) and see if that helps. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to the next journey. What kind of game are you looking for next?
So very true, my account and progression will always be there, perhaps when I learn to handle FOMO better I'll be back! I have my eye on a few different games but still early days! 😊
LOOL I hit this exact same point at around 245. Full time job + trying to workout and train Muay Thai everyday + having a gf.. I’ve ended up playing starting at like 11-12am staying up late and then going to work at 8-9 am dead tired
I liked your commentary on the game. I do feel like the game has turned into eventstory. It's exactly what you described: feeling the need to log on every day to do monotonous daily quests so that you don't miss out on the time-limited event items, without which you can't hope to progress very fast. Every meaningful equipment enhancement and character enhancement item is most easily obtained through events now (cubes, cores, symbols, 17 star enhancement scrolls, unique and legendary potential items, android hearts... the list goes on). It's funny actually that they call their events "events". Because all of them are basically the same and offer basically the same rewards.
Pretty much the same reasons as to why I am about to quit Maple as well. I played it back in the days when I was a kid and the game was magical. Today, the magic just isn't there anymore and it is just a FOMO machine filled with time-limited events and rewards with an expiration date.. A daily/weekly chore.
I agree. This type of game design is why people cherish the old Maplestory and not so much the modern version. I also recently started playing and I am defintely going to quit once I get 260. I am only one level away now.
Its a great game run by a horrible company. I will say tho that one thing ive realized is that the scarcity is fake, the events always come back. U always get cubes. Nonetheless i am happy that you determined for yourself that this isnt for you and left before the addiction became too deep!
Well said man, you expressed and articulated the really predatory elements of the game design very well. I'm feeling a similar sentiment. Let me know what games you are looking to play, as I am looking for a game to switch to as well. Consider Path of Exile and Path of Exile 2 is set to release in a few months which is supposed to fix some of the main issues now.
As someone who has played maple on and off for 14 years. I must say I agree with everything you say. My most recent binge session of maple has really made me feel like my FOMO is being abused.
let me offer a counter thought: i've been recently thinking that, because it has so many limited time events, no event is really worth FOMOing over! you will ALWAYS have 100 new flames, always have a new hyper burning and always have event resources. why fomo over any of it? there will always be the next event. this has really helped me chill with how much attention i pay to the fomo the game is trying to instill on me, and it makes the experience a lot better. i understand some events are better than others, but why should we care that much? if we like the game, we'll get our cubes, we'll get our flames and we'll get our nodes. no need to fomo. not trying to convince you to keep playing or anything, just giving my 2 cents :)
I dont even follow you, but you described my problem with most gaming in general, baiting you with fomo is the worst tactic game developers can use, but thanks for putting my thoughts into words
I quit MapleStory today and this video popped up in my recommended feed, lol. Yeah, FOMO made me spend a lot of stressful time on this game, and I don't have time to play another game that I really want to play. I love MapleStory, but it requires too much time for me to play, and it makes me feel like I'm being forced to play. I'm glad that I have some good memories with it.
If u take suggestions i would recommend considering monster hunter world! Maybe just the base game tho, as completing the dlc Iceborne as well would double the content which might be too big of a commitment. 2hrs of play each day would allow about 1 or 2 hunts plus some chores/crafting.
it's sad to see you retire the game, but I totally get it! It was super nice to "play along" with you since I also recently got into the game and watching your videos as sort of a guide to level up my character was a lot of fun. I totally get all your points you're bringing up too. Even though my daily bosses take maybe 10-15 min and my weeklies during reset take MAYBE about an hour(?) I still feel like I run out of time. I can't imagine having to add on editing videos and all that on top of you normal every day life. I salute you and thank you for your content and I hope to see more of your stuff in the future!
Thank you so much for all the kind words and wow, I never expected anyone to play along with me, such a nice surprise! Wishing you the best as you continue on your maplestory journey!
Ya thanks for trying it out. Maplestory is really a game that is a long game sort of situation, i have skipped entire seasons of the year events just because I dont feel like playing, it does mean i miss out on the crazy progression stuff. And i miss out on potentially making million of meso in the process as well. But its sort of a situation where you just play it when youre in the mood and any progression benchmarks you make should be celebrated, Of course with you trying to make content at a regular interval that can be tricky because maplestory is designed to slow you down unless in the regular server you're willing to pay up to progress at a super fast speed. I play on regular but i'm free to play player so progression for me is at a snail pace, but i enjoy the time i do play the game at my pace. Good luck on your next endeavor.
Glad that you figured out the game wasn't for you as early as you did. Also, be proud that you took action. It really shows your maturity and it's respected. I really related to your feeling of treating Maplestory as a content machine rather than a hobby. Hearing of wanting to do and record everything definitely reminded me of my sense of fomo. It took a while before I accepted that I didn't need to do what I didn't want to do. I think you're figuring things out much faster than I did/am. Keep it up!
If it helps reinforce your decision, it only got worse since you uploaded this. The devs just announced some really negative changes; Reboot's meso rate will be decreased down to x1, there will be a cap on meso obtainability, and reg servers will sell cubes with mesos instead.
I was really enjoying your content for Maplestory. I think the probelm is the fear of missing out, all these events are coming back so when you drop something is totally ok, I think alot of MMORG players think they have to progress very fast and grind very fast and use everything very fast, actually that was never the case with Maplestory you can create with your own Pace a decent experience
Great point, I think I did put a lot of pressure to progress quickly because I wanted to create weekly videos. Definitely something I've learnt from, and who knows maybe I'll be back to maplestory some day!
@@Will-o-Wisps I wish you all the best with your next game and when you are back please don't stress yourself in a game that nobody has reached the max level yet.
reason for daily and weekly content is so that the game is more time efficient, gives something for players to do everyday, while stalling for the devs to make new content in terms of fomo, just don't do it if you feel you are being played rather than the one playing, plenty of other content to do and most event stuff will come back in the next event - unless you really care about cosmetic stuff like outfits, chairs, and mounts. there is not really pay to win on reboot, the most is vacuum pets, or just never grind long hours and you never need to worry about that =P They add in permanent content every so often like maple home and guild castle.
I view the event content as like salt and pepper to spice up the regular dailystory and weeklystory gameplay. Most of the regual content u are doing can be kinda bland unless u are going thru a new questline/learning a new boss or playing a new char
@@SoulHydron Dailies and weeklies is just standard mobbing gameplay is why it does not feel special (plus since it is permanent removes the special feeling to it), it just compresses progression in a very time efficient manner, but hard capped for the day / week. Typically event stuff is a bonus of what we normally get, but most stuff from events you can just skip if you really don't feel like doing it and just wait for another event that will just have 90%+ the same stuff.
Thanks for the videos man. I'm done with the game after the identisk event is over. Sunk cost fallacy and all that so I'll be finishing abyssal expedition and identisk up and then I'll uninstall the game as well. I was having a blast during the last hyperburning event up until the point where my paladin was doing so little damage that it took forever to kill stuff and since then I've been struggling because I feel like I need to do shit on other characters (ie legion, links) just to progress on my main. I totally agree with the time aspect as well. Stopped doing the dailies a few weeks back and I'm already noticing improved mental health just from that. I really love the gameplay but as others have said it's run by a horrible company. I just wish they did progression more linearly instead of exponentially. I'll probably go back to playing more WoW after this because in that game I can spend a week to get up to speed at max level instead of struggling for months and still not being close to endgame. I can also whole-heartedly recommend Baldur's Gate 3 if you're looking for a fantastic game to play while waiting to start up your next project. That game is awesome and that's coming from someone who doesn't normally enjoy round-based games.
I just randomly came across your video and I feel like you described my feelings for the game perfectly I picked up maplestory again at the start of the holiday season And was able to get 3 characters to 150 and one to 200 The insanly fast progression allowed me to explore and play with jobs and classes that I didn't get a chance to experience with 2008's version of maple story - so I'm really grateful for that. But now I'm feeling like there's so many 'mechanics' that are designed to keep me around based around fomo and I don't think it's really healthy - so I've decided to take a break as well I subbed cuz I'm curious to see your next adventure - best of luck!
i for now, just fell in love back with the game.. before i was just grinding and grinding.. now i fell in love with bosses.. so much fun.. see you around if you comeback
This game is an absolute shell of what it once was. Quit after Big Bang myself and never looked back. Go ahead and play on some of the old school private servers. You would enjoy it MUCH more.
I came here to say play OSRS, but looks like zachdoesdev already beat me to it. I've loved both MS and OSRS in my lifetime, but OSRS truly has aged like fine wine.
Honestly, biggest reason I never got back into MS. Logged in for the first time in a few years and it was just a blast of time limited events with items i didn't know how to use and things I would only get if i played daily. Super enjoyed the series though.
First time seeing your videos.. as someone who PLAYED from like idk 2008-2013 or so.. and continues to play but only on private servers.. it blows my mind that you ONLY started playing at the end of 2023 and got burnt out within a month lol. Either way, hi! lol
For me maple story now is a game I play for 2-3months every year or two, its a game where I come back every so often just to burn it out and do as much "current" progression as I can then quit until I feel like nostalgia is clawing at me, (I'm a player of maple since 2004) And I been doing this ever since big bang was released. Anyway what im saying is maybe you would enjoy it the same as me, coming back so often to enjoy the game for what it is then quitting just cause youre burnt out from maple or it isnt fun any more :) But thats the best way I enjoy the game now ^_^
100% understand why you burned out. Maplestory is great fun until you feel you HAVE to log in because of all the FOMO. I've fallen off the game multiple times due to this exact reason -- it turns from wanting to play the game to feeling like you need to play the game daily in order to get everything you 'need' to do done.
Same reasons why I left wayy back in 2020. I did enjoy all my years from when I started back in the decade+ Tempest patch. I will miss my characters that I spent many hours grinding on and will especially miss my main Zero class which I dripped the hell out of them both. Playing Maplestory essentially forces you to play that game ONLY and nothing else
It was fun watching your content and I'm sure you'll be successful in your future plans. As an aside, would you mind sharing what resources you used to make your videos? Recording, editing etc
I'm glad you enjoyed. Everything I use to record and edit my videos is free. I use Davinci Resolve to edit and OBS to record gameplay and live commentary, Audacity for scripted voiceovers. There are many tutorials all over TH-cam on how to use the software listed! Best of luck on your content creation journey! 😊
i feel you mate, i REALLY do. super relatable Eitherway atleast you learned some editing skills and had some fun :3 thanks for the vids youve made, love ur voice btw
sad to see you go, but as this game was literally my early teen to adulthood memories, im glad that you played this game as long as you did. best of luck on your future plans.
i respect your pov but i do think a lot of ur points are extremely unfair. this current event identisk doesnt have any fomo and we've kind of moved away from that. the time limited items is an issue yet but thats rlly it. pay2win is easily circumvented by playing reboot and stuff like vac pets is not really a huge deal anymore besides QOL
The Identisk island has a daily check in for some pretty amazing rewards, 3x weekly check in for more great rewards, and 3 events that can be completed 3 times a week for a massive chunk of experience. One propels your characters quickly to level 200 (storehouse), the next can boost you to 210 in no time (hunting event) and the final one grants a significant chunk of exp in the later levels (coconut smash). If you're already in the late game with high legion you're right, you can give most of the event a miss, however if you're not - like 99% of players on the Hyperion server, it isn't an event you want to skip out on as it astronomically boosts your progress towards the early milestones of maxing your nodes, 2000 legion level and multiple level 3 link skills. Not to mention it also has fun and unique cosmetics that won't return to the game possibly ever but at least for a long time.
maplestory def aint a perfect game, feels like your going nowhere most the time and having to play events to even enjoy playing the game/progressing faster is pre bad game design imo. The game is basically a weekly/daily log in to make meso/get xp. I really only log in for boss resets cause of the meso, but then i log out 5 mins later cause u spend the meso u make in 5 mins and see no gains lmao. Takes years to even progress in this game and get end game gear/legion/stats/boss mules, just aint really realistic
I def thing playing alongside friends/joining an active guild doubles the experience. Though shouldnt u be saving the meso for event discounts? Upgrades can cost less than half as much sometimes during discount events
I hate the phrase “not to mention” cuz it’s always followed by mentioning the thing you are saying “not to mention” about. It makes no sense. You do it three times in this video. I almost didn’t make it to the end.
My highest char is lvl 261 and i need more than 1 hour for 1% exp. How is this motivating? Its just the opposit of motivation and frustrating i am also quitting the game. Its just nonesense time wasting and endless grinding... Not fun at all and also extremly expensive if u wanna catch up with other players or even with mobs where you grind. Specialy after lvl 260. I habe pretty high value gear and still need 3 hits till killing a mob over lvl 260
@@Asesindark He said that since his play time is limited each day, dailies/weeklies takes up most of the time so he doesn't have much time to do other more interesting stuff, that it was also more stressful because he felt pressured to find good footage for the weekly videos and so ended up playing longer than he should. Which then affected his sleep, and bled into his relationships and other life commitments and overall was unhealthy for him. He also didn't enjoy the fomo of events, and how rewards didn't feel good because they would have an expiration timer which was just another thing to add to the list that just made the game more stressful and he wishes he could just save to use them later. All these just add to his eventual distaste for playing the game and burn out.
Yeah I quit sold my account. This game is a horrible game with a horrible design only played for nostalgic purposes. WoW is a way better game than this Korean predatory game
The goal was never to do it all in a month, in fact when I started I was aware at my pace it would probably be a 6 month to a year series. I think I just got wrapped up in trying to make weekly episodes worth watching, too much for someone with as little time as me!
@Will-o-Wisps to be able to do black mage in 6 month you'd have to play 24/7 lol probably watch too much kobe and other creators do it im guessing, also who cares about what's worth watching? I make vids on what I want to make, if they watch, good, if not oh well
Avoid Korean Games at all costs, they all have the same predatory monetization. Lies of P beeing the exception. Same shit with Lost Ark, p2w timegated pile of crap
Hate to be that guy but you tried to rush MapleStory with a Lara, a character nobody likes. 1.- MapleStory is a marathon not a speed race 2.- Lara… dude… this is what you get when trying to be trendy. “MapleStory a wonderful game run by a horrible company, ya da, ya da, ya da”. Maple has been a wonderful game run by a horrible company since day 1 20 years ago… you weren’t even born and that speech was already told. My suggestion: play something you actually like instead of being trendy. New char, new server, new game if you like.
I think you're unaware or mistaken surrounding the actual reason I stopped playing so, I'm going to try my best to explain a little more clearly: It wasn't the class I'm playing or how long things take to progress that made me quit, I was very happy playing Lara. It is still the most fun class I've played, and at this point I've almost played them all. I was also happy to spend as long as it takes to reach my goals, as someone who has been playing MMORPGs since I was 6 years old (18 years ago) and having completed many completionist grinds within those games, I am very aware of the "marathon not a sprint" rhetoric. I didn't burn out because things were taking a long time, I stopped playing is due to egregious, anti-fun, anti-consumer game design and the unhealthy thought patterns it was introducing into my life. No well designed game has players worrying about their items being deleted for no reason other than the developers are so desperate for you to spend a certain amount of time in-game every day. The counter argument of "let them time out, you can always get more in the next event" or "just skip the event, the next one will be along soon" is a poor argument to defend intentionally flawed game design. Lastly, Maplestory is not a trendy game. I hate to break it to you but if you're unaware but Maplestory is an incredibly niche game within a niche genre of video games (MMORPGs). If, like you have implied, I was making videos to be trendy I would definitely not have made Maplestory content. I started making videos on it purely because of wanting to learn to make and edit videos and why not start with videos sharing my experience playing a new game. That's all. I hope I've made my stance a little more clear and I wish you the best on your Maplestory journey 😊
It may not be the first of your vids I’m seeing, but what you’ve said is a long standing sentiment throughout the community. You are so valid. There isn’t any disappointment, but truthfully, we all get pretty burnt-out and have periodic breaks. I’m glad you are prioritizing yourself. Best to you in your future and I’m sure the Maple community will welcome you back with open arms again if you ever decide to return.🩶
Modern maple is so dogsh*t idk how anyone enjoys it. I hate the "i'm the main character" aspect of modern MMOs since that was never the point. MMOs were about needing other players in a shared world, now every class is so powercrept they don't need anyone else. It's cringe. Maple doesn't even resemble it's old self in any form, all of the good about it was powercrept out while the bad is still there. Trash game.
Congratulations on your liberation.
I might not have been able to achieve it in game, but I achieved it in real life!

I enjoyed your content man, looking to see what game you hopping on
a quitting player is a saved person. this game is an abyss, and the quicker you quit the better.
Spoken like a true addict! Haha
Well said!
It was then that I grew fully dissolusioned with the game and properly moved on to greener pastures.
he'll be back, they always do.
Sorry that you feel that way!
as someone with more than 8k hours I swear I'm the number 1 MS hater, good for you on quitting
Can not blame you for it, the reason the series was so appealing to me is exactly because I myself can not handle the expectation to log in daily for several hours. In a way I was just enjoying the progression vicariously through you. Looking forward to whatever you pick up.
Sorry I couldn't see it through - thank you for the kind words, though! 😊
It is a great game to play when you have a lot of time, no doubt!
Well said!
I’m just thankful for the series while it lasted, I also stepped away from the game recently so I’m excited to see what you come up with next!
Thank you for the kind words, I am glad you enjoyed it whilst it lasted. Here's to new things!
At the same time you decided to leave Maplestory, its korean server has been caught and fined by the government for their cash item scams. What a coincidence 😮
I haven't logged into or watched any content on the game since Christmas, so this is the first I'm hearing on this! Now that's a disaster for Nexon...
But the events don't come back. That's why there's so many OP legacy items.
Honestly, good for you to leave FomoStory. I feel exactly the same way
As someone who has played maple on and off for 14 years.
I like the suggestion! Definitely a game I will have a look into!
it's sad to see you retire the game, but I totally get it!
I realized the same previously, but why am I even back to the game...
@@Will-o-Wisps I wish you all the best with your next game and when you are back please don't stress yourself in a game that nobody has reached the max level yet.
reason for daily and weekly content is so that the game is more time efficient, gives something for players to do everyday, while stalling for the devs to make new content
in terms of fomo, just don't do it if you feel you are being played rather than the one playing, plenty of other content to do and most event stuff will come back in the next event - unless you really care about cosmetic stuff like outfits, chairs, and mounts.
there is not really pay to win on reboot, the most is vacuum pets, or just never grind long hours and you never need to worry about that =P
They add in permanent content every so often like maple home and guild castle.
Nexon: "We will miss your wallet Will, Hopefully you will come back with a bigger wallet to spend. Yours, Greedy Nexon. "
The edit style and commentary is the x factor for me
Keep posting on anything
Subbed
Thank you so much for the kind words!
I miss when Thunder Breaker used to shoot sharks out of the punch. :(
Thanks for the videos man.
Thanks for watching - I hope you enjoy your time in WoW! Baldurs Gate is definitely a game I have an eye on!
I just randomly came across your video and I feel like you described my feelings for the game perfectly
I picked up maplestory again at the start of the holiday season
And was able to get 3 characters to 150 and one to 200
The insanly fast progression allowed me to explore and play with jobs and classes that I didn't get a chance to experience with 2008's version of maple story - so I'm really grateful for that.
But now I'm feeling like there's so many 'mechanics' that are designed to keep me around based around fomo and I don't think it's really healthy - so I've decided to take a break as well
I subbed cuz I'm curious to see your next adventure - best of luck!
Thanks for the kind words! Yes, on to the next adventure!
i for now, just fell in love back with the game.. before i was just grinding and grinding.. now i fell in love with bosses.. so much fun.. see you around if you comeback
I'm so happy you're enjoying the game! I am almost jealous 😊 enjoy it as much as you can for as long as you can!
I love maple but ended up playing a private server because I can't allocate the normal amount of time or play....
i havent played maple for a while either. hope youll keep making videos on other games. loved your way of making videos.
Thank you! I just need to figure out what games 😅
This game is an absolute shell of what it once was. Quit after Big Bang myself and never looked back. Go ahead and play on some of the old school private servers. You would enjoy it MUCH more.
Glad to hear you got liberated
when dailies takes 5-8hours to complete per day
Oh you be back…
Well, seems like you quit just in time to avoid the bad news 😥
I came here to say play OSRS, but looks like zachdoesdev already beat me to it. I've loved both MS and OSRS in my lifetime, but OSRS truly has aged like fine wine.
Honestly, biggest reason I never got back into MS. Logged in for the first time in a few years and it was just a blast of time limited events with items i didn't know how to use and things I would only get if i played daily. Super enjoyed the series though.
It is certainly overwhelming... Glad you enjoyed the series ❤
First time seeing your videos.. as someone who PLAYED from like idk 2008-2013 or so.. and continues to play but only on private servers.. it blows my mind that you ONLY started playing at the end of 2023 and got burnt out within a month lol. Either way, hi! lol
quiting MapleStory is probably one of the BEST decisions in your life
try old school runescape :)
An iconic game from my childhood! I might have to give it a go! 👀
Thank you for everything you've done. I really enjoyed watching your videos!
It feels like a slippery slope sometimes!
Congratulations on your wise decision
Same reasons why I left wayy back in 2020. I did enjoy all my years from when I started back in the decade+ Tempest patch. I will miss my characters that I spent many hours grinding on and will especially miss my main Zero class which I dripped the hell out of them both. Playing Maplestory essentially forces you to play that game ONLY and nothing else
0:55 The reason you're not having fun is because it's not 6th job
It was fun watching your content and I'm sure you'll be successful in your future plans.
As an aside, would you mind sharing what resources you used to make your videos? Recording, editing etc
I'm glad you enjoyed.
Everything I use to record and edit my videos is free. I use Davinci Resolve to edit and OBS to record gameplay and live commentary, Audacity for scripted voiceovers. There are many tutorials all over TH-cam on how to use the software listed! Best of luck on your content creation journey! 😊
I really love a lot of things about this game.. But so many things that nexon does wrong ruins the game.
come to Royals and enjoy a little bit nostalgia
i feel you mate, i REALLY do. super relatable
Eitherway atleast you learned some editing skills and had some fun :3
thanks for the vids youve made, love ur voice btw
Hey thank you so much!
sad to see you go, but as this game was literally my early teen to adulthood memories, im glad that you played this game as long as you did. best of luck on your future plans.
Thank you so much, we all have those games that are near and dear to our hearts.
Good for you finding out fast considering the KMS reboot changes that will probably hit us
Hola, puedes resumir el motivo de tu salida. En idioma Español?
i respect your pov but i do think a lot of ur points are extremely unfair. this current event identisk doesnt have any fomo and we've kind of moved away from that. the time limited items is an issue yet but thats rlly it. pay2win is easily circumvented by playing reboot and stuff like vac pets is not really a huge deal anymore besides QOL
I quit Maplestory and play Guild Wars 2. Guild War fun as f
I quit MapleStory
I recommend try guild wars 2 the only mmorpg that respect ur time.
grats on liberation.
what do you think you'll be playing after?
Play a private server, or try ffxiv it respects your time much more and the combat is very satisfying albiet slow to start.
Congratz on quitting for the 1st time. Youll be back :)
here before tecul & envy
maplestory def aint a perfect game, feels like your going nowhere most the time and having to play events to even enjoy playing the game/progressing faster is pre bad game design imo.
I hope this video pops off. More people NEED to hear this. I wish you the best, and congrats on your journey in the real world
Its over
I hate the phrase “not to mention” cuz it’s always followed by mentioning the thing you are saying “not to mention” about. It makes no sense. You do it three times in this video. I almost didn’t make it to the end.
good game destroyed by politics. just like good people in life, and the good things in life. gotta thank politics
You need xp potions bruh
Maplstory is for retired millionaire’s children
you made a good decision
I literally get more cubes than I have use for. Most of them I just leave to expire.
But why u dont get fun anymore playing maplestory? what disappointed you so hard?
That was half the video wut u mean? 😂
@@SoulHydron He just said somehow "i get bored of the game" but never said any specific reason at all
@@Asesindark He said that since his play time is limited each day, dailies/weeklies takes up most of the time so he doesn't have much time to do other more interesting stuff, that it was also more stressful because he felt pressured to find good footage for the weekly videos and so ended up playing longer than he should. All these just add to his eventual distaste for playing the game and burn out.
everything has an end what i cherish are the memories
Holy shit took you long this to quit? Anyway, play WoW Season of Discovery. You wont regret it.
Do it on a privte server, will be more enjoyable
Yeah I quit sold my account. This game is a horrible game with a horrible design only played for nostalgic purposes. WoW is a way better game than this Korean predatory game
i think you expected too much lol took me 18 years to beat the black mage you aint gonna do it in a month
Same shit with Lost Ark, p2w timegated pile of crap
try different classes
Wise choice, this game is shit to begin with 😂 dont get sucked in
Hate to be that guy but you tried to rush MapleStory with a Lara, a character nobody likes.
1.- MapleStory is a marathon not a speed race
2.- Lara… dude… this is what you get when trying to be trendy.
I think you're unaware or mistaken surrounding the actual reason I stopped playing so, I'm going to try my best to explain a little more clearly:
It wasn't the class I'm playing or how long things take to progress that made me quit, I was very happy playing Lara.
It's not for you
Go back to play pink pony adventure online nerd.
Goodbye 🫡 😂😂😂
😂
It may not be the first of your vids I’m seeing, but what you’ve said is a long standing sentiment throughout the community. You are so valid. There isn’t any disappointment, but truthfully, we all get pretty burnt-out and have periodic breaks. I’m glad you are prioritizing yourself. Best to you in your future and I’m sure the Maple community will welcome you back with open arms again if you ever decide to return.🩶
Thank you so much!
Dead game for more tn a decade
Modern maple is so dogsh*t idk how anyone enjoys it. I hate the "i'm the main character" aspect of modern MMOs since that was never the point. MMOs were about needing other players in a shared world, now every class is so powercrept they don't need anyone else. It's cringe. Maple doesn't even resemble it's old self in any form, all of the good about it was powercrept out while the bad is still there. Trash game.
